WMD, I definitely agree here. To further put it in perspective, that'd be like a TNA supporter (or some would say apologist) saying "well if TNA was as big as WWE, they'd be the #1 Company in the World," but they're not, so, well, they're not. IMO, that's a huge conditional statement. I also agree that while they might not be booking everyone properly right now (The Truth, for example), there isn't anything wrong with the TNA roster as a whole.

Swigg, I went to the Anniversary show and it defniitely didn't come off as an indy production live. The only time I got the "indy vibe" was when I saw the outside of the Aslyum. But inside, it actually felt like a Nitro taping I attended at the Omni in Atlanta in 1995 (the only WCW show I ever went to), but nothing like the multiple RAWs I ended from 95-01. And the fans definitely where into the show, so I think it's a stretch to say the fans didn't care. Going to the show live gave me a different perspective entirely....the fans that night definitely cared whether or not the Truth was able to beat Jarrett for the belt. All in all, I'm just saying I think this statement was a little harsh on TNA and unfair. Granted, I've never seen RoH, so I'm not commenting on the comparasion at all, but just this assessment of TNA's "national-ness."

Just to try to bring some positive energy back around here (beyond just saying that TNA sucks), here are the matches I think we can pencil in considering the recent TV. Discuss what you guys think... Jarrett/Hardy in a ladder match or something Raven/Monty Brown in a #1 Contender's Match AJ/Petey Williams for the X Title AMW/XXX in some sort of gimmick match for control of the Tag Belts Dusty/Funk (or Zybysco) and obviously the Outsiders will be involved in some form or fashion. I thought we'd see Abyss/Shelley, but since they've fazed out Goldylocks and moved Abyss away from that, I don't know anymore. I did notice that during the 3LK match last week on Impact, Tenay said that next week they'd start to name some of the matches for the show, which is good. I also think they'll have to unveil the location soon or they'll be screwed on the ticket sales. The more I think about it, I think if they can't get a building in Vegas or Nashville, they'll just reconfigure the the studio at Universal and do it from there. Anyway, what do you guys think of those match-ups, or do you think they'll go in another direction with any of them? If you don't like the pairs, please don't go into a rant about how JJ can't book or whatever. Just suggest the matches you would like to see instead.

I agree. Jarrett's most likely not going to job to Hardy. In the scenario I laid out, Jarrett retained the title only to job to Monty at the next PPV, which is honestly where I believe we're headed. And I think after that, we'll see Brown in an extended title feud with Abyss or Raven, while Jarrett and the Outsiders feud with Hardy and most likely 3LK. I think the final build up to Victory Road will be Jarrett saying he's got Hall for back-up (because Hall won the first "big" ladder match) to counteract Hardy being in "his" match. Hardy will says he's got back-up of his own, but he's not letting Jarrett now 'til the PPV. Everybody (most marks) will then wonder who Hardy's gonna bring. He brings in Nash, who doesn't appear til the PPV in a "surprise" for the big pop. When it looks like Hardy's got the title, Nash powerbombs him from the ladder through a table, and hoists Jarrett on his shoulders so he can grab the belt. On the next Impact, Jarrett cuts a promo reminding Hardy he told him to watch he trusted, the Outsiders were with me all along because this is Planet Jarrett blah, blah. Brown interrupts, demands a title shot because he won the 3 way. Jarrett tells him he has to go through his bodyguards, Brown beats Hall one week, Nash the next, but gets a 3-1 beatdown each time with Hardy and 3LK making the save each time. Monty then wins the belt at the 2nd PPV, which will most likely be in Nashville, in front of the fans who first started cheering him in the first place, while Hardy/The Truth face Nash/Hall on the under card. It almost books itself.

I agree here 100%. The net fans have made up their mind already, IMO. They're either gonna order because of the chance to see AJ and Williams tear down the house or they're not gonna order because JJ and Hardy are headlining. I think TNA is trying to draw new fans to this event. I agree here again. If Brown goes over here strongly in the second to last match of the big show, he'll seem like a bigger deal then going straight from his steady diet of squash to the main event. Even Goldberg went over Raven for the U.S Belt before they fed Hogan to him. I'm with you here too. There is no way Raven/JJ II would have been as effective with only 2 weeks of proper build. The first month was built of 4 months of heat. I think Jarrett mention Hall and Nash by name on this week's show. We'll have to see though.

I know I'm gonna be in the minority here, but since the beginning, everyone fussed about TNA abandoning storylines midstream, which they haven't done here. This Ladder Match has definitely been building since June. Even with the 2 week old tournament storyline, the only other match that would have made much sense considering the last 6 months of TNA storylines would have been a 3-way with Brown. IMO, the set up is there for them to really sell this match, if they just let Hardy talk. He can talk about upping the ante by having his speciality match, and Jarrett can say that he's not afraid since he won the belt in a "ladder" match. He can also bring in Hall to coach him, being that Hall won the first prominent ladder match, and then Hardy can bring in Nash to counteract him (which would explain them being on different sides). Then they have options at the PPV...then can do the predictable swerve and have the Outsiders have been aligned with Jarrett the whole time, with Nash costing Hardy the match or they can have Hardy take the belt (probably not gonna happen). Meanwhile, they can have Monty win the 3 way with Raven and Abyss to set up the next PPV main event. So in Dec, we have Monty getting built up as a monster babyface by going through Hall and Nash to get to Jarrett and take the belt off of him (and getting made in the casual fans eyes by beating the names), while Hardy can feud with Nash in the "impress the marks" feud that is far away from the title (and maybe even do Hardy/Killings vs the Outsiders at the Dec PPV, so that Killings and Nash can carry the workload). All in all, I'm saying that this is a match that TNA can sell based on the gimmick and all the intrigue with what's going to happen with the Outsiders. I don't think this was a bad decision on there part and it definitely is not indicative of them throwing shit at the wall, which they have done for much of their existence. This match has been building for 6 months and it's not an environment we see Jarrett in much, so the marks will think he actually has a chance of losing, kind of like in the cage match with Styles. Monty's time will come soon. I'm almost 100% positive that he will be the one to dethrone Jarrett. But I think TNA made the right move considering the 4 options they set themselves up with and their storylines for the past 4 months.

Here's on update from PWInsider.com: Doesn't appear that they are paying to be on, so they may have gotten a better deal in Canada than they did in the States.

DK, I would be with you if we were talking about the X-belt, because I firmly believe the X champ should always be an awesome worker, but IMO, the World champ doesn't need to be. He needs to be over and be able to draw emotion from a crowd, to make them react to what he does. So in this instance, I wouldn't look at it as taking the belt off a mediocre worker and putting it on a worse one. I would look at it as taking the belt off an unover worker and putting it on someone the crowd reacts too.

The Halloween special is the best news there, IMO. That would be a great opportunity for them to really sell Victory Road and do like a Saturday Night's Main Event type deal with matches between the stars who aren't necessarily feuding, that way they can play it up like what implications will this have on Victory Road, for instance. (They could also do this with Impact, but for right now, it seems they are more content just running angles there). If they can work this out...I think it's something they should do by every PPV, kind of like a final sell. And if they draw a decent primetime rating, they can use that as leverage for a permenent move. Also, if they're going to get a midnight replay of Impact, they should definitely just make that the new slot. I think they'll do better that way, even though a lot of people won't be home, I still think there's a bigger potential audience than Friday afternoons.

Donners, if you're watching the Best of the Title Matches DVD, watch the ladder match with AJ that starts out the second DVD. The crowd was so into D'Lo right there and I don't think I would have been mad if TNA had pulled the switch there, though I understood why they didn't. Either way, I think D'Lo's first TNA run was his best stuff since his heel run in 98 (hell...he even pulled some entertaining moments out of Siaki, who was over as a heel for the first time since he burned the Elvis suit). And the feud with AJ was one of the best title feuds in TNA's history in my opinion. It had a story arc that many of TNA feuds lack and you could see the back history playing out as the matches continued.
-
That's a good gimmick for this match, IMO. I don't wanna see a ladder match or cage match, cuz they're overused gimmicks. The 2/3 falls thing could be built as the decisive match and will allow for the match to run at least 20 mins, which is what this PPV needs.

While neither of these shows blows my mind, I don't see who you guys can say that Xplosion was better than Impact since they had a title match on the big show and the beginning of the #1 Contender's Angle, while they only taped one match and one interview for Xplosion. What I was encouraged by was that they then followed it the "big angle" on Xplosion, which is a great step since Xplosion airs after Impact in most markets. They can then recap the Xplosion developments next week at Impact, and if they continue to do that, than maybe people who can watch Xplosion will make an effort to do so. So in this case, I think this is just you guys being negative to be negative.

Honestly, IMHO, TNA doesn't have a single match-up that will draw the masses to Victory Road. I think the only way it will be successful is to promote the event itself as a big thing, and not necessarily the main event as the "match of the century." They have to have at least 2 matches with ***** star potential to draw the smarks in, and they need to feature guys like the Outsiders and Hardy prominently to draw the marks in. It's a tough balance, but I think if they take Jarrett vs anybody or Styles vs anybody and say this match is the single biggest reason you should order this ppv, they're doomed, as much as I love AJ.

This is this week's line-up, according to TNAWrestling.com. From reading the spoilers, it should be one of the better shows because Styles/Shelley and Kash/Dallas v Sabin/Red were both said to be very good. I don't know which weeks the Canada/Mexico match and Jarrett match was taped though.
-
I agree...IMO, that would be the best show since the first week and since they have the footage in the can already, it could very easily be done and would allow them to continue the slow build toward Victory Road and maybe even begin to make Impact an event worth watching again
-
For instance, they can easily do a show like this from the dark matches the past few weeks: Show the fireworks from last week and then go to the first match Team Canada members Bobby Roode, “Hotshot” Johnny Devine and “Showtime Eric Young vs. 3 Live Kru. This seems to be the way TNA is running the pre-taping, show two good matches then give the fans a PPV style match. 3 Live Kru is super over with the crowd. Konnan and BJ James hit the mic with James doing a variation on the old New Age Outlaws pre-match mic ritual. BJ James got the win for the 3LK by pinning Young after a pump-handle slam. Commercial Kid Kash and Dallas vs. Chris “the Future” Sabin and Amazing Red. Fans taunted Kash with a “we want tables “chant from last night’s loss to AJ Styles. It was an X division match until the almost seven feet tall Dallas got in the match. Dallas hit Red with a boot to the face and Kash hit a frog splash to get the pin or former IPW World champion “the Miami Pound Machine” Rod Steel vs. Amazing Red. This was a big contrast in styles. Steel is a natural heel and he showed it to the TNA fans. Shame the Orlando crowd doesn’t know Steel because he is a great worker. Red won after hitting a superkick after Steel blocked Red’s attempted power sunset flip. Commercial Promo from Daniels about how he feels about Skipper holding the titles with Harris, interrupted by Storm, who says just because their partners are now champs doesn't mean the AMW/Triple X rivalry is over. Christopher Daniels defeated Frankie Kazarian in a dark match. Commercials Mike Tenay and Don West hype Victory Road and the Best Of Specials. Six Sides of Impact with Jeff Hardy….Jeff finally talks about why the World Title means something to him and talks about how he plans to come for JJ again. Monty concludes the interview by Pouncing Hardy out of nowhere as he gets up from his seat. Commercials Promo from Petey and Scott D’Amore about how they are going to complete their takeover of TNA by taking out its favorite son and that AJ should watch himself on the Victory Road. A.J. Styles beat Alex Shelly. This was the match of night by far. This was just an awesome match and it's too bad that it wasn't on Impact. The finish saw Styles roll up Shelly for the win. Excellent match. (They can edit the post-match stuff and go straight to the post show promos). I said either or with the second match because either one would work. I guess they would show the squash match, but if they wanted to kick-start Impact, they would show the tag match instead. But this is a very passable show and allows them to continue to start to build toward Victory Road, since they need every bit of momentum they can get right now.
-
I'm assuming they'll be showing the dark matches with some interviews tossed in....for instance, last week's Kid Kash/Dallas vs Amazing Red/Chris Sabin match will probably air. Either that or the AJ/Shelley match from the week before.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling's scheduled taping of "iMPACT!" on September 14th will not take place due to weather conditions. However, a brand new episode of "iMPACT!" will air this Friday on FSN at its regularly scheduled time (check local listings). "iMPACT!" will begin its Tuesday taping schedule on September 21 at Universal Orlando Resort. credit: TNAWrestling.com Looks like they aren't gonna run a re-run, which i think is a smart move on their part.

I really liked the commercial. It was way better than any other commercial the TNA has produced (especially that horrible Impact commercial) and make Victory Road seem like a huge deal.
-
Unlike next week, Xplosion was taped in Nashville before the PPV, not in Orlando. I was talking about the dark matches they run before the Impact taping starts, like Sabin/Red vs Kash/Dallas this week. They generally run 2-3 matches before taping the show and I remember them saying they'd tape the dark matches for future DVD releases or something like that.
-
Wouldn't it make more sense for them to put together a show using some of the canned footage?
-
I was gonna say JJ/Hardy, but I don't think that feud has the legs to go on until October/November. You may be right about Orlando though, but I hope not.
-
So let the speculation begin.....what's the 1st Sunday PPV ME gonna be and where is it going to be held? I say JJ/Raven and Las Vegas.

This is from PWInsider.com. Thoughts?....
