He didn't El Kabong anyone last week. He just came out for a promo.

Exactly...or you're just so blindly anti-TNA that you can't even see the forest for the trees. Whether you're a TNA fan or not, you have to admit that is an impressive number considering the time and day and lack of real promotion and the fact that they are on a collection of "regional" networks instead of actual cable network. Also, the viewers in 2 of the country's biggest markets were probably not counted in this. If those factors all changed, it's only logical to assume they'd draw a higher rating.

Ideally, I'd like to them do bi-monthly PPVs too, but I don't think they would be able to survive financially on just 6 PPVs per year. They have more potential to bring in money with monthly PPVs.

That's from the LAW and more huge news for TNA. It will definitely give them some negiotating leverage. It does matter because it will give them some leverage to negiotate a deal with where they are paid to air, because now they can using drawing such a high number in such a bad slot as evidence of their drawing power and get a better deal. At the very least, they can try to work a deal with a network that truly wants to partner with them like Arena Football on NBC, where no fees are paid, but they split revenue up to a point. Just a thought. But it does matter, because it could lead to a better slot if TNA is smart (at least the Sunday morning slot they talked about it). If they did pull a .6 (which I'm not sure I buy yet either), they will definitely be on primetime in time for the new TV season. If they can negiotate a deal where they aren't paying to be on FX, then I'd like to see them move Xplosion to FSN (with real matches), have Impact on FX in primetime building to a monthly PPV.

Thanks for posting this Mad Dog. The six way should be great. Abyss versus D-Ray is a squash I'm sure. I'm glad Sabu is getting into the mix, and hopefully Raven finally makes his debut here for a promo or something. AJ versus Aguila should be interesting and Killings/Young is just kinda thrown together. I am excited, however, as this will be the first time I watch Impact as it airs, so I'm staying as far away from the spoilers as possible. Thoughts?

I tape while I'm at work, but this week it'll get to watch it as it airs, so I'm defintely avoiding spoilers. But if those counted, it's be much higher.
-
Bps, I'm having a hard time buying that they did a .6 either, for all the reasons you said. I'll wait until I see confirmation before I get all excited, but I did always believe they'd be in the .3 to .5 range for the first show, just off the internet word of "type." I think they did enough in week 1 to bring most of the viewers back, so I don't expect to big a drop to week 2. It'd surprise the hell out of me if they doubled though, unless every single person told their friends to watch too. And you know most of the people who saw the show taped it, which I don't believe counts towardt the rating. I believe they peaked at 1.3 and the lowest was 0.6. The first did a 0.9 though.

Absolutely. If you consider all the factors, you have to applaud TNA here. No way you can slice that negatively at all. They have a horrible timeslot and very little promotion and they are already tied with the highest rated show ON THE NETWORK! I'd say this bodes well for Impact's chances for success.

I don't usually post in this folder, but I'm compelled to know. This is in the Torch newsletter according to 411wrestling.com If Taker squashes Eddie for another title run, SD! is as good as dead. Now if he puts Eddie over seriously, it will solidify him as a main eventer and be good for business. But tell me which is more likely?

Never mind, I saw it. TNA equaled the network's highest drawing show with no promotion. They've got to be going apeshit. Imagine if they had the promotion that I, Max did. If they keep it up, they'll be on primetime by the time the new TV season starts up. That might explain the sudden FX interest. They've got to be looking at that number in that horrible slot and wondering what it could do for their network in a much, much better position.
-
I didn't see this anywhere. You got a link? If it is true, it's a huge rating considering the death slot. That's like them delivering a 1.0 in primetime. If they can keep the rating in that range for a while, they might have some ammution for negiotating for a primetime slot (hopefully on FX!)

I'd love to see F'N Amazing (copyright Dames ) return. The match where they won the belts from Triple X kicked all kinds of ass.
-
I agree....this has been the best use of Raven since they jobbed him and his destiny to Jarrett last year.
-
I agree 100%. If they don't transition Team Canada into the tag team division, it'll a huge blown opportunity. I'd like to see this as the regular tag team division in TNA right now: AMW Naturals XXX Team Canada 3LK (Konnan and BG James) NYC

I didn't order this week because I wasn't too excited about the lineup, but it seems like a good show. Wouldn't you know that they'd have D'Lo return the week I'm not watching, since I've been screaming that he should come back for about 3 weeks. I'm soooo looking forward to inevitable AJ/D'Lo vs Kash/Dallas match. My only other complaint from reading the results was WHERE'S KAZARIAN? He's too cool to be lost in the shuffle TNA!!!

I saw this on 411wrestling.com: I didn't see this anywhere on the torch site, but did see TNA on FSN as a topic on the audio report. I don't know if it's true or not, but it would be absolutely huge if it happened. Let the discussion begin....

They did virtual time results on the Torch and PWI.

From what I remember of the shows, I enjoyed them. I don't have any of my old Raw tapes, so I can't go back and verify. But if my memory serves me correctly, most of those shows where good. I just listed the most memorable moments since I didn't have tapes.

Hmmm....let's see. Off the top of my head, these are the most memorable editions of RAW: 95 The post WM show where Sid attacked Shawn and turned face. The show where Shawn defended the IC title against Sid in the match that was supposed to be on SS. The show where Shawn "collasped" mid match to sell his Buffalo beating. 96 The show were Vader attacked Gorilla Monsoon The show from where Goldust kissed Ahmed Johnson The show from October were Austin invaded Pillman's home with a gun. 97 The Thursday RAW Thursday show (first 2 hour edition), where Shawn lost his smile and Maivia beat HHH for the IC title. The show were Bret lost it in the cage and started yelling profanities. The show were Austin attacked Bret in the ambulance Pretty much the entire summer, including the episode from June where Austin and HBK won the tag belts The show from August when Austin won the tag belts with Dude Love. The show from October, in MSG, where Foley appeared as Cactus Jack and McMahon took his first stunner. The DX shows from November and December was funny for there shock value. The show from December where Austin throw the IC belt in the river. The show from December where Austin stunned Santa. 98 The show where Tyson and Austin had their confrontation. The post WM show where X-pac debut and cut his killer promo and the NAO joined DX. The post KotR show with the Kane/Austin title change. The show from July where Kane and Undertaker took the tag belts from NAO and I believe D'Lo won the European title in the same show. All the shows leading up to Summerslam, especially the one with where they set up the HHH/Rock ladder match with Rock locking H in his locker room and berading China. The post Suvivor Series show from Seattle with Rock/Austin as the ME for the belt and where Foley official turned face. 99 The first show of the year with the Foley title win The post RR show where Foley gave away the Rock's money The post St. Valentine's Day Massacre show with the Rock/Mankind title change. The show before Backlash where Rock "buried" Austin's career The show before SS where the number contender to the title changed like 5 times The show after where HHH won his first World title from Foley The show where the Rock and Sock Connection was formed, beating Taker and Show for the tag belts.

HiaC doesn't take time to set up at all. They just hang it from the rafters and lower it while a video package plays. The Mankind/Taker HiaC from KotR 98 went on 2nd to last. Austin/Kane ended that show. Should have been the same deal here, IMO. But Benoit's match had no real build up, so they would have had a tough time following up the HiaC. All the build up went to HBK/HHH, which is the point I think Kido was trying to make. And the fact that its relatively clear that as soon as HHH mets Benoit one on one, he's taking the belt back. Post haste. How is that fair? TNA has no control over how any other NWA territory is run, other than their own. WWE has total control over SD!, and they're still screwing the pooch every Thursday night. Big difference.
-
This is good news for TNA. Now if they could get Baltimore/DC right...
-
Yes they are. But if that's your answer to both of his questions, is it really far to compare TNA to WWE at this stage in the game?
-
Thank you. I'm not saying Jarrett is paralleling Hogan, Rocky, Austin levels of drawing power. I'm just saying that in a well-booked feud, he can draw interest. While I don't agree with the decision to put the belt back on him so quick, I do understand the logic behind it.

Amen, Amen and Amen.

Meltzer reported attendance for the April 30, 2003 show at 1400. And says they usually have about 800-900. That's a significant increase that can be attributed to Jarrett/Raven. The building even looked more full on the show, which Dames pointed out in his review of it on this site. So clearly, the match was a draw.
