Good review, Swigg. I was thinking of doing one, but I was so upset about the ME that I wrote my rant in the other thread instead. But still, a good review. And I believe TSM needs a good Impact reviewer I like to see your review added and bps bring back "From the Outside." C'mon bps, just because TNA stopped doesn't mean u should. I might write one next week and post it here. Should be interesting.

AJ/Dallas is just being used to build to AJ/Kash. I'm sure they will probably save that match for the anniversary show....or the show after that so that it can main event.
-
I just finished watching the tape and it left something to be desired. IMO, it was just an average show this week, and lacked the big event feel of last week. Some quick thoughts... I liked the Kash/Red match. Even though it was short, it didn't really seem like a squash because Dallas interfered. I gotta admit, I'm digging the 2 Dudes with Attitude vibe of Kash and Dallas, but that's probably because I loved it the first time. The AJ/Kazarian match was once again the match of the show. Even though it was tons shorter, still a good match and they got some good spots in and even worked in some more psychology with Kazarian still blocking all the Styles Clash attempts again. I'm upset they didn't put over Kazarian's Coolest Guy in the World gimmick for new viewers in his first Impact match. Blown opportunity there. 3LK/Young and the Naturals was a fun match, the kind of match that the crowd liked, and didn't seem like a waste of time because this was TV and not PPV. Glad the Truth's popularity carried over to Orlando, and glad they got Konnan and James on the show for casual viewers, but man did the pop for them matching the Truth/Jarrett match not exist or what. Maybe Dusty shouldn't have been the one to make it. Also, Jarrett should have sold it like he was upset. The dastardly heel shouldn't be excited about facing the face who pinned him just recently. Monty/Siaki was just a squash, but I forgive them because they wanted to get them both on the show. I don't think they did a good enough job getting over Monty's paranoid predator gimmick. The ME was just bleh. I like Team Canada alot, but I'm not a fan of Team Mexico (esp without Garza) and I wish the X Cup thing would just die already. Team US winning the World Cup should have been the blow off damnit. Hopefully this flag match does that. Move Team Canada into tag title contention, push Garza and don't mention the World Cup again until next May (hopefully it will become an annual event). I think this being the ME really hurt this show. Of this lineup, AJ/Kazarian clearly should have gone on last. It just seemed like a let down at the end after the earlier stuff. I liked that they ran vignettes trying to establish Jarrett, Raven and AMW's characters and wish Raven would appear on the damn show already. I like that they announced Truth/Jarrett for the anniversary show, and think it will be a fine main event for the big show, but I am no longer excited about the feud. They haven't given me much to get worked up about. The only thing I'm excited about long-term is Styles/Kash. I like that they are taking it slow and like that they booked Styles/Dallas. I think that match may suprise people. Dallas can hit his spots and be carried and Styles works the big man/little man match better than anyone since HBK. This show just seemed pedestrain to me. It was decent TV, but they didn't do anything this week to make me want to buy the PPV on Wednesday, and if Impact doesn't accomplish that goal, why is it on the air. Hopefully they pick it up next week. They are going to need something to make people view the anniversary show as important. I think naming it would help and since they aren't any closer to running the sunday PPV, I would like them to break out the BFG name. It seems approriate and can be established as their big event if they make it the anniversary show. Either way, they're going to need to step up the Truth/Jarrett feud to make me care before the 23rd. I'm a big mark for Truth and like 3LK, but they haven't given me any reason to want to see Truth fight Jarrett other than the fact that I know it will most likely be a good match because I saw their first encounter. The new audience they are looking for doesn't have that luxury. END RANT

Those are the dark matches from the first 2 Impact tapings. Anyone one of those would be an excellent match to ME Xplosion (well maybe everything except the Gauntlet and the Abyss/Sabu match). If they would rather tape it in Nashville instead of Orlando, the guys could just do the same match because they're playing in front of a different crowd. Makes sense to me. Definitely would improve the show alot. Sabu defeated Abyss (w/ Goldylocks) after Raven provided unintended distraction. This was a slow-paced match that just wasn't that good, and Sabu screwed up his attempt at the triple jump moonsault too.

Credit: PWInsider.com Hadn't seen this anywhere on the board yet, so I'm putting it up. This is interesting, because I think as it stands, most people don't know where Xplosion airs and if they do, they view it as entirely missable because its all hype and squash matches. I like the interviews that are "exclusive" to Xplosion and think the show has some value, but I really can't stand that it is all squash matches. I think they could tape a throwaway match and make it an Xplosion main event. Just to make watching the hour worthwhile. Kinda of like how WWE usually has at least one match on Heat between "names," though not necessarily big ones. Just one match where the winner is in doubt is the only change I'd make to the show, because the interviews are great and usually get me hyped for the PPV.

If the lack of activity in this thread is any indication of the rating, I see why TNA never released last weeks....Keller isn't even doing his virtual time thing like he did last week.
-
I guess now it would be approriate to ask if no one is watching.
-
Ditto. Jeez, I really hope they get moved to that Sunday slot they are talking about.
-
I'm at work and I just realized the clock on my computer was fast. lol. Sorry about that.
-
Anybody watching?
-
I agree. This angle could be huge and could push one of them closer to the title, even though I don't think TNA would put the belt on Sabu. After such a hot start, I would hope they don't just ignore it today.
-
That may be true, but by having that exposure, he's got more star power than just about everybody else on the roster, expect Jarrett (and maybe D'Lo. Maybe) So it doesn't make sense to not use what little star power you have. When Raven was a WCW regular, they were drawing 3.0s and 4.0s, and when he was Heat, it was still close 1.0, so I'm sure they are people out there who at least recognize him. Nobody is comparing him to Hogan, Austin or the Rock, but he does have his marks and their are people who would recognize his face, which in the case of the casual fan is usually half the battle.
-
I read that they wanted to push Garza and I know Tenay spoke highly of him in one of his recent columns. Anyone got any ideas as too how they're going to go about it? He looked like Val Venis coming out on the PPV with the towel wrapped around his waist.
-
Yeah...I'm hoping they will appear in a backstage segment. Maybe Douglass will interview Raven again or interview Dutt and Sabu. Just acknowledge the damn storyline and their presence on your roster TNA! !!!
-
They could have at least acknowledged that there would be a rematch between AJ and Kazarian. I'm sure people who didn't order the PPV but read the results of the match being quite good might be tempted to tune in to see them go at it again. I think they need to announce at least 2 of the matches each week in order to draw people in. They can do the rest on the fly if they'd like.
-
Sorry for the double post, but speaking of non-spoiler Impact matches, I know that this isn't a preview listed for the show on the company's website. This is ridiculous. If they can list a preview for a live PPV, they surely could list a preview for a taped show. I think they should definitely list all matches that aren't directly set up from angles on the show in advance, because as the buzz of the new show wears off, people need a reason to go out of their way to watch or tape the show, especially in this horrible timeslot. I think not having a preview is a bad move on TNA's part.
-
I didn't see their first match. Was it any good at all?
-
Yeah, that will probably be the match that they go to commercial during, kind of like the tag title match last week. It's interesting that they are redoing Monty/Siaki. Didn't they just do that on PPV about a week ago?
-
To my knowledge, there isn't a replay, at least not in Atlanta. I don't know about Chicago though.
-
I don't mind the matches being short, because if they gave away long matches on TV, no one would pay for the PPVs. They need to introduce characters on Impact and have matches just long enough to see what the talent is capable of. For instead, people interested in AJ from last week's 6 minute match were probably floored by the PPVs 20 minute match. I thought the match lengths last week were approriate consider the time constrictions of the show and if they don't do a lenthy in-ring promo like last week, they could have easily fit another match on that show.

Matches for 6/11: Kid Kash vs. Amazing Red Frankie Kazarian vs. AJ Styles The Naturals and David Young vs. 3LK Monty Brown vs. Sonny Siaki Team Mexico vs. Team Canada EDIT: This is the correct order. You would think AJ/Kazarian would be the main event, but then again, I probably would have thought the tag match would have main evented last week before seeing the show. Anyway, I am not sure if it's for the title, but I would assume it is. Hopefully they protect Frankie, because jobbing to AJ twice in 2 days is going to kill his heat.
-
I just hope they continue the Raven/Sabu story, maybe in some backstage stuff. After such a hot beginning, I don't want them to just drop it.
-
I say keep it up.
-
I thought that was a great merchandising idea by TNA, and if they had a larger kid fanbase, they probably would have been very popular.
-
I'm sure that's it too, but I like to see a storyline explaination for it.
