SNL "Lazy Sunday" Link from Last Night...
UseTheSledgehammerUh replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in Television & Film
The point of this skit was the poke humor at the online podcasts that are seen either online or on Al Gore's new TV channel (MTV videos and podcasts that are voted onto the air by the internet.) It basically was done to not "slam" podcasts, but just make a funny one and show that you can make a music video about anything. Hence the blatant photoshop and basic video editing tricks done between lyrics, and such. I thought the chorus was catchy, but after a few watches, it's not as funny as before. My favorite part of the video is when Parnell responds (about the directions to the theatre): "THAT'S A GOOD ONE TOO." -
I don't know what they're officially classified as, but even though their music videos are horrible, the popular songs out from Fallout Boy are really catchy and good, IMO. "Dance Dance!"

Kash Vs. Juvy, btw, would've been shit on in TNA. It wasn't even a spotfest like TNA matches, nor did it have more than 1 good spot. It's just what happens when two unover wrestlers are put in a championship match to an already uninterested crowd.

I am posting this again since it got moved down due to the idiotic Wikipedia nonsense and I'd like to hear how anyone else that ordered felt about the show: *** WWE ARMAGEDDON THOUGHTS *** Hardy Vs. JBL: * 1/4. Hope Matt likes SQUASH during the holidays. JBL has shitty, weak punches. Bad choice for the opener. "Hell in a Cell" recaps of Taker's past throughout the night. MNM Vs. Mexicools: * 1/2. MNM have new robes which have those red "tickers" on certain parts that scroll "MNM" "Nitro" and "Mercury". Nice corkscrew plancha by Psi. Crazy did Rey's "senton over the ref's back" spot better than Rey. BOTCH - Psi doing a double-Steamboat headscissors to MNM. Crazy with a nice tornadt DDT. Snapshot finishes. Teams looked off, no real continuity or story or great spots. Booker/Sharmell do decent promo, with broom for sweep. Benoit Vs. Booker T: *** 1/4. Benoit's gonna win in 7, I think. Good pacing and matwork to start off. Booker as dancing confident guy is good role. MICHAEL COLE AND TAZZ ARE BRUTAL and hurt the match. Gets slow...big time, outside the ring. 3 Amigos by Benoit. Hat Trick. BOTCH: Benoit tries to reverse a superplex into a German and falls off the back of Booker. Heat Seeker by Booker for 2. Scissorkick 2. Bookend reversed into Crossface. Getting REALLY good. Could Benoit job? False finishes galore. Another Hat Trick. Flying Headbutt for 2. Ref bumped during Crossface reversal. Sharpshooter Booker taps, no ref. Bookend reversed into a Benoit DDT! Crossface and Booker taps. God really good but slow towards the middle/heel sequences. Long & Cannon bring out Santa Vito and Evil Elf Nunzio. Horrible segment. Boogeyman beats them up, feeds worms to Vito. Horrible crowd killer. Lashley Vs. Regal and Burchill: 1/2 * The tag team works quickly and fluently, lots of knees to the back. Nice flying knee from Burchill. Dominator ends it on Paul. AD: Elim Chamber at NYR, featuring Disturbed's "Stricken". ***HORRIBLE PROMO OF THE YEAR*** Josh Matthews interviews former ref Tim White. Recap of White's injury at JDay 2002 in HiaC cage match. White, drinking, goes on about how his life came to an end, his wife left, etc. He then MURDERS HIMSELF with a rifle. AWFUL. Faint "Eddie! Eddie!" chant heard after Tim White kills himself. Juventud Vs. Kid Kash: *. HORRIBLE. Absolutely the worst Cruiserweight Title match ever on a WWE PPV. All mat based, except for a Juvy supercanrana and a Kash moonsault. "END THIS MATCH!" was chanted loudly. kash wins with Dead Level. Raw Vs. Smackdown Tag: * 1/2. Good for what it was. Batista spinebusters Kane. Rey 619 on Kane. Show/Batista fight over announce table. SHOW GOT HAIR PLUGS in the front and back areas of head. Look for Show/Batista match at Rumble for World Title. West Coast Pop on Kane caught, chokeslam finishes for Kane. HELL IN A CELL: *** Orton bladed, but the blood didnt last that long. Taker did small blade. Ref Nick Patrick and Bob Orton bladed. Stupid. Pretty solid match, but the crowd didnt pop for a lot of reversals and stuff, most noticeably SILENT for the "chokeslam reversed into RKO". Even the announces couldnt call it right, with Michael Cole claiming they "chokeslammed each other". Taker wins with Tombstone. Good.

I actually bought this PPV. Thoughts shortly.

The bWo (with Stevie) won a match on Velocity right before the Great American Bash, to answer someone's question. DDP? Are you kidding me? I disagree. Page constantly worked the same match, but did it well, and had a very over finisher that kept crowds hot and liking him. Page's heel run as a top star towards the end of WCW proved just that - without a hot crowd behind him, he was average-good in the ring and not a top caliber worker. He had a history of backstage politics, either getting pushes because of his neighbor or interjecting himself into hot feuds like Raven/Benoit and having himself emerge the star. Plus Page's poor-to-annoying catchphrases and interviews made him look not like a big level star, IMO. Last Page match I liked was Christian/Page from WM X-8. Go back and look at it. It's Page doing basic maneuevers, playing to the crowd, hitting a few neat look (although kinda contrived) spots, keeping the crowd hot, and winning a good, solid match that wasn't spectacular. I agree, Vince booked Page very poorly. But that may have been out of disrespect to Page's backstage bullshit as much as it was to wreck a WCW star. I will say this. Back in '98, Benoit got rave reviews for his series of matches with both DDP and Booker T. The original Booker/Benoit "Best of 7" is remembered as being "amazing". I have 5 of the 8 matches they had and I am not that impressed in 2005. Particularly, I find the 8th match from Bash 98 (Benoit DVD) to be really mediocre. Looking back at SuperBrawl 8, I found DDP/Benoit to be better, and their Thunder match (albeit short) was really solid too. Benoit and Page had pretty good chemistry. But Page went as far as he could go. He got the World Title reign, and no one took him seriously. Because he was only good at best.

Hmmm, whats up with the Colts playing poorly?

2005 WWE Television Win-Loss Record & Standings

Everything's updated now. -
First, the history: - First big singles match of Edge's career - First appearence of Christian - Marc Mero does the best SSP ever. - The Rock's first ever mega-babyface match. - The first ever heel singles push for Bradshaw. This would be the first night of a two month period when Bradshaw appeared like the JBL of today. He was CUT, got rid of the moustache that night, cut an evil Texan promo, and then squashed Vader. - JR buries Vader the ENTIRE match as Bradshaw squashes him. Vader's last WWF PPV match before being released in a month. - First ever WWF Triple Threat cage match. - Mankind's much-forgotten flying elbow off the top of the cage to a major pop. - The crowd, upset at Road Dogg's voice unable to do the "NEW...AGE...OUTLAWS!" gimmick catchphrase due to "Jarrett injuring his throat", does it THEMSELVES during the match, in unison. (?!?!) - Austin loses WWF Title - Austin goes into "Hogan mode". Meaning, he notices the crowd dying from the sluglike offense from Taker & Kane, and no-sells their previous attacks, and in seconds has the crowd from "Boring..." chants to a rabid craze. - Scorpio is actually made to look like a threat. - Double J gives some "Southern Justice" to Dogg, Gunn, and Waltman...7 years before TNA. - Val Venis' heat is officially KILLED. From super-over good worker at SummerSlam 98 opener, to "Man, this is kinda fucked up he's doing Dustin's wife. Let's cheer him." Which led to "GOLDUST IS BACK, Venis is gonna get it!" Which led to heatless Venis working future matches with Goldust, Shamrock, Gunn, etc. ____________________ Lots of little important things. Man, look back at it. What a storyline to build to Mania. WWE notices Rock's popularity is about to explode. So they capitalize on it, and even trick the smarts who figure Rock will get the "Randy Savage 2nd fiddle" title reign and be a face, and then have him turn mega heel two months later. Set up Mania beautifully. Owen REALLY carried Edge, and it's very noticeable. Fun little show. Thoughts?

WWF Breakdown: In Your House

Edge jumped into Owen's powerslam off the apron. Some angles it looks contrived. Replay it looks good. Rock: "So if you two pieces of monkey crap have enough sugar in your testicles, then you come to the ring and face the Great One. And the People's champion will climb the People's Cage, Inch by Damn Inch..." Mankind: :::cuts funny promo::: end with "...Sugar-Coated Testes? Is that a new breakfast cereal?" -

Actually, I *meant* Bret's WCW run. He wore the Hart Foundation jacket and another leather jacket quite a bit.

Best squash/one-sided matches
UseTheSledgehammerUh replied to Special K's topic in General Wrestling
Bret/1-2-3 Kid. I know, it was close and Kid got some near-falls, but come on. It's the WWF Champion against the 1-2-3 Kid. IMO, part of what hurt Bret's credibility of being a great champion was a match like this, which gave you an "Oooh, hey good match!" feeling but not a "Wow, Bret's just such a dominant champion." feeling. Did I like it being as long and competitive as it was? YES. What should it have been? A 4-minute Bret squash. I consider it a big extended squash because there was no chance in hell Kid was walking out with the title, under any circumstances. -
Quote: "That song kinda died after Fergie pissed herself." Please explain this ?

Sinead O'Connor has a kickass song (I can't believe I just typed that) called "Put It On Me" from the A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 4: The Dream Master soundtrack. Dunno if it ever got popular.
-
They can't throw Masters, Cena, Triple H, Carlito, Show, and Kane in the chamber. By January, all 6 will have mega heel heat and no one will want to see anyone win, just Cena lose. Why not put Shelton and Michaels in? Save the 1-on-1 big match for Mania, gimmick it up? Armageddon can have: * ELIM CHAMBER Cena - Masters - Shelton - Michaels - Triple H - Cena * IC TITLE Flair - Murdoch * TAG TITLES Kane & Show - someone (smackdown?) Actually, all the matches are gonna be pretty bad no matter how they do it, so may as well do whatever.

You should blatantly substitute incorrect things in and then read it aloud and see if *anyone* picks up on it. Go on about how how Hulk Hogan, after finally being the man to slam Jeff Jarrett at WrestleMania 3, had to go to WCW because he killed the first Ultimate Warrior and he needed a place to lay low during his marriage to Miss Elizabeth because The Big Boss Man was trying to arrest him. It wasn't, what they called, a "storyline", it was REAL. Seriously, except for the murder part, no one'd even know what "WrestleMania" was, anymore. It's sad. Back in the 80's, we had good Saturday cartoons. Back in the 90's we had mainstream wrestling accepted in high school w/ a million nWo, Hogan, DX, Rock, and Austin shirts. Now, we have neither. So don't get discouraged if your teacher and the other students roll their eyes or seem to find your topic silly. That's their own stupidity. Good luck, but yeah, a 2-3 pager. Shouldn't be that difficult.

Q: NWA Tag Titles change hands? Q: Sting dressed in Crow gimmick still?
-
Quick PPV trivia note, the "poll" on TNAWrestling.com asking what match the fans want to see most. The NWA World Title match got...5%.
-
I have a great fear that "Bullet" Bob Armstrong will soon have a weekly on-camera role.
-
Personally I think the match should have gone last.
