As one of John's employees back during the intial PPV's hype, I can say that you can't put the blame on him.

Double-post.

Funny Evolution interview on WWE.com

Orton was channeling Trips with the water bottle...was that purposely done??? TUNE IN TO NITRO -
redbaron, I think you misunderstood me. "Everyone predicted the match to be a stinker" doesn't mean I found it to be a stinker. The "match" wasn't great but is was memorable. Which was the shocking part. The internet bitched going into the match it would suck. I had no interest in it. Then, the AMAZING SPOTS just...wow, made my jay DROP and made the PPV extra memorable. Amazing historical value, most fans'll never forget it.

Yes, it is.

About Mankind being over...let's put it this way. Expectation and anticipation for the Taker/Mankind Hell in a Cell Match back in June 1998 was about equal to: Bradshaw/Taker at SummerSlam, or less. Seriously, Taker had a messed up ankle and Foley was de-pushed and boring, as hell. Everyone predicted an unmemorable stinker.

Weekend Boxoffice Report July 30-Aug 1
UseTheSledgehammerUh replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
Total US Gross $2,766,810 Production Budget $70,000,000 Thunderbirds. Ouch. 70,000,000????? Who would fund that?!?! -
Let me be the first to say: "DIVA SEARCH" taking up 5-7 minutes... is better than... Gail Kim, Molly Holly, Nidia, Jazz, Victoria, etc. "wrestling" for 5-7 minutes. Women's wrestling sucks. If chicks are gonna be on TV, at least let them be HOT, like the Diva Girls.

While updating on the website, found this piece... From the 11-23-92 Wrestling Observer Newsletter: Weeks earlier, it was reported that Steve Austin was against forming a regular tag team with a heel Brian Pillman. WCW took interest in signing international star Chris Benoit to team with Pillman. However, Benoit was not happy with the terms of the contract offered by Bill Watts, so he refused to sign with the company. The WON says it will "force the company (WCW) to put Pillman and Steve Austin as a regular tag team after all." Damn, how awful.

I will mark out if 1) Edge makes fun of Jericho for being a choke artist in big matches... and 2) Jericho responds by reminding Edge of how he did wind up "Billy-Gunn"-ing the 2001 KOTR title.

Sounds like a good RAW...that 6-man sounds cool. Team Canada Vs. Evolution Wooohooo I hope Dave beats up Jericho & Edge.

LOL at the thought of Triple H "having to wear the biker shorts". "Uh, dad-uh...can I wear my jeans out for the match with Booker.... "YOU WILL WEAR THE BIKER SHORTS....OR YOU"RE FIREEEEEDDDDDDD!" "Uh, they're tight...NAITCH, where are you?"

"hey SHUT UP!!!!!!" I think Paul E. just killed any "invasion" right there. What a cast of characters in that room.... Russo, McMahon, Hayes, Cornette, and Sunny.

Heel to Face, Face to Heel
UseTheSledgehammerUh replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in General Wrestling
Here goes, for Hercules: On July 15, 1990, Hercules (a FACE) defeated Akeem (HEEL). Paul Roma & Hercules defeated Warren Bianchi & Red Tyler in what looks to be their first teaming, the next night, on July 16, 1990. Before this, Roma was curtain jerking against jobbers (even the Brooklyn Brawler). They wrestled a SECOND match that evening, taped for the August 4, 1990 edition of Superstars, against two jobbers. At the July 17, 1990 taping, Herc and Roma defeated known FACE jobbers Jim Brunzell & Jim Powers. Later, they appeared WITH SLICK FOR THE FIRST TIME, squashing two jobbers with the Power-Plex, for a match taped for the August 19th edition of Wrestling Challenge. House shows leading into August (before the heel turn with Slick was shown)...Roma was beating heel jobbers. Hercules was beating the likes of Dustin Rhodes. On Aug 6, HBK appears with crutches....an "injury" Herc did to him weeks later at Summerslam (storyline). Michaels did have a legit injury. Still beating face jobbers at TV taping in mid-August. HEEL Hercules moved up the card to a time limit draw with Tito Santana shortly before SummerSlam. At SummerSlam, POWER n GLORY crushed The Rockers. Shawn didnt wrestle, due to Herc "taking out" his knee with the chain. I believe the "heel turn" of Hercules happens above. Nothing MAJOR, just a new team with Roma that was arrogant. P & G were at the bottom of the tag totem pole til SSlam. Credit: www.thehistoryofwwe.com Ask Graham, he prob. knows for sure. -
TRIVIA: Easy: When was the last time we saw the WWE and World Heavyweight Champions both compete on the same evening? Medium: Name the Luchadores who competed in the "Pinata in a Pole" match during Russo's WCW run. Hard: Who accompanied Jimmy Hart to the ring for his Spring Stampede '00 match against Mancow? No cheatin'.

Wow for being "Benoit marks" you people sure know NOTHING about Chris Benoit. "Boo hoo, Benoit isn't paraded around on Vince's shoulders!" "Wahhhh, he isn't mentioned in the Raw preview, OMGNO!" "WWE doesn't respect Benoit." Benoit's gimmick is that he is a wrestler. He doesn't need 15 minute promos to start the show. He doesn't need hype. Benoit's job is to TO DEFEND THE WORLD TITLE. He's main evented WM XX and made HHH tap. He made Michaels tap in a three-way. He pinned Kane. He made Kane submit. He pinned Michaels. He made Batista submit. He made Orton submit. He made Flair submit. He pinned Triple H. He's been given the tag titles. He defeated Triple H in an IRON MAN MATCH. He's main eventing SUMMERSLAM. He has been given a hyped, awesome DVD. God, what AWFUL TREATMENT!!!!!!!! The WWE hates him!! Who the hell reads the RAW recaps anyway? God, it's like having a MODEL for a girlfriend and complaining because she has braces. Benoit's been given a solid push.

What I want: Eugene, Regal, & Benoit Vs. Triple H, Randy Orton, & Kane and Jericho Vs. Batista #1 Contender's Match In the main event...after a big battle...Triple H uses a chair on Benoit, and then delivers THE PEDIGREE to the champion. Eugene gets the chair and takes out Triple H. Orton sneaks in and STEALS THE PIN ON BENOIT. In the other match, have it go to a no-contest when Flair interferes. Edge comes down for the save, but he and Jericho get into a shoving match "I Don't Need Your Help!" etc. Throw in some tag title stuff.

Anyone have a run-down of the card for the show tonight? Anything good? No spoilers, just matches, please.
-
You stole that Sting & the Police idea from a fan's write-in to Eddie Ellner's column in a 1991 Pro Wrestling Illustrated issue.
-
Quote: "What if Hurricane had won on Raw in 2003?" That match with Triple H the night after WM 19 was a NON-TITLE MATCH...
-
What's the point of C & Ping something like that Flair/Sting match when: 1. Flair wins the match with the Figure Four and from the "report" on the match, Flair hadn't even touched Sting's leg before. and 2. Flair making Sting tap cleanly is a real stretch.
