Milton 9mil Wagner 8 mil Worrell 3 mil Total 20 mil minus 12-14 mil cleared Thus they added about 6-8 mil in payroll.
-
Millwood may make 11-13 in arbtration, Padilla, Rollins and Polanco are going through arbitration this offseason. Padilla and Polanco could get hefty raises.
-
Phils sign Worrell 2rys/6mil
-
So this offseason the Phils, essentially traded: Nick Punto Carlos Silva Jose Mesa Terry Adams Brandon Duckworth Taylor Buchholz for Billy Wagner Tim Worrell Eric Milton That ranks as a pretty good offseason in my book. Just need to see if they pick up a left handed bat for the bench (unless that is now Utley's spot, but I think he is too valuable in trade to do that). I would still do Kim-Utley. To hell with payroll at this point, they already blew it up.
-
They announced a press conference for 4 today, so it appears something has been done. Also, they mentioned today, that Millwood has said he will likely take the arbitration. I can't believe, if Millwood accepts, the Phils payroll could touch 120 mil. Never thought I would see the day.
-
They could get Mike Cameron, to replace the deteriorating Erstad.
-
Christ, Millwood is probably going to hold out for a 5yr/50-60mil deal now.
-
Just wanted to add I am surprised Arizona didn't offer Miguel Batista arbitration. I think there would be a bit of a line forming with his agent, so I don't see the "don't offer then sign him for less" situation working here. Unless they figure since they got Fossum they can take a chance.

Wells to remain a Yankee Well it looks like the picture is starting to clear up for NY, if Wells can get and stay healthy he will be a good re-signing. I would be in favor of any team taking him on with an incentive laden deal. I didn't think he was that big of a risk. Do you think they are going to get another pitcher if Pettite goes to Houston or would they just let Contreras try out the 5 slot?
-
Well, Marshall isn't exactly the healthiest player. So therein lies some hope.

I am just glad I don't have to face Seoul. Clinton Portis destroyed my hopes once this season. I don't need him to be doing it again. I'll pull a Buddy Ryan here and put a bounty out to whoever can take down Seoul in the first round. HHH or Laffayette, I am looking your direction. Disclaimer: please note there is no money or actual reward for the bounty, just a thank you from me

Here is how the playoff picture is shaping up 1st seed Whalers on the Moon (drops if Marc Buger and James Jackson score 63 more points than Isaac Bruce, Jeff Wilkins, and the Stl defense) 2nd seed Laffayette Ephedras 3rd seed HHH (drops if Torry Holt scores 35 points) 4th seedd Pogo the Monkey 5th seed Ultimo Guerreros (drops if Faulk scores 40 tonight) Then if: Marshall Faulk doesn't score 7.01 6th seed: Seoul Emerald Tigers 7th seed: Berzerker Vikings 8th seed: Marvins Madness If: Marshall does cover 6th seed: Team 2000 7th seed: Seoul Emerald Tigers 8th seed: Berzerker Vikings Amazing we can go through this whole season and two teams playoff hopes are tied into one player scoring 7 points.

I have to say I was shocked when I saw Millwood was offered. The only thing I considered was they did it just to get the picks, because in their mind there is no way Scott Boras settles for a one year arbitration number. Not that I would mind Millwood Wolf Padilla Myers Milton But it seems like they wouldn't want to spend the money on Wagner, Milton, and Millwood. They better get around to getting one more very good bullpen arm soon, now that Hasegawa is gone the pickings are getting slim. Here is to an Utley-Kim trade. And I like how the whole time, the Expos company line was we will keep either Vazquez or Vlad. Big shock (sarcasm) neither of those things happened.

Ditka Vick isn't in Ditka's league yet. Ditka would beat a team like the Cardinals by 500, because they would be so scared to step on the field, Ditka could just walk from end zone to end zone all day. What about a Ditka coached Vick? Who could he beat?
-
What about Vick vs. the Cardinals? I say Vick by 30 or so.

There is a difference between a bad sports memory (one yard short) and an experience like the OU-KSU game. I had to suffer through it last year in the NFC championship. Final game at the Vet, Eagles playing against a team they have owned the last few years, and as soon as Joe Jurevicious caught that 50+ yard crossing route every single Eagle fan knew the game was over. And we still had to sit there for 55 minutes, knowing there wasn't a damn thing that could be done.

Who cares if the OU that played last night wasn't the real OU? Was the USC that lost to California the real USC? Was the LSU that lost to Florida the real LSU?

Well Marvin, I think Clinton Portis just killed you. I feel for you man, I faced him today in the wild card round of my money league. Bunch of fucking shit man. Right now in our league Portis is worth: 22 runs x .2 = 4.4 218 yards = 10.0 5 TDs = 30.0 2 catches x .5 = 1 36 yards= 1.8 47.4 Total Points

It probably didn't hurt that there really isn't much else for the teen demo to go see right now. Most other stuff is to adult or R (Samurai, Bad Santa, The Missing) or too kiddie (CitH, Elf [try convincing a 14-17 year old boy to go see Elf]). I think Honey was just in the right place at the right time.

Winning at home against a terrible road Seahawks team, isn't going to quiet people much.

ALL THREE OF THEM have legit claims. Only two of them get the shot. To quote the late, great Gorilla Monsoon, "What a miscarriage of justice!" Yes that's what I'm saying. They all 3 do have claims and it would be a travesty if ANY of them were left out. But 1 of them does have to be left out. However people seem to hate OU so much that if they were left out nobody would be crying fowl like they are about USC and LSU. Why is beyond me. Because yes they lost the conference but they dominated the rest of the conference throughout the season. They had a bad game. Everyone has bad games. Unfortunately there bad game was at the WORST possible time. However they still dominated like no other team did. The more I think about it, the more I have to agree with the conference championship losers can't go on idea. Because if a person wants a playoff format overall then you have to accept the fact that conference championships are mini-playoffs. And in that scenario you can't send the loser. Look at it like the NFL. If one NFC team goes 16-0 and dominates everyone, then they face an 8-8 team in the conference championship and lose, you don't send the loser anyway even though they might be more worthy. So does it suck they picked the conference championship to fall apart in? Well, for them, yes. But did they fall apart in the conference championship? Yes.

I wouldn't mind a revised system to avoid things like that. Like throw out the statistical outliers. If everyone is voting a team 1 or 2 any ballot with that team lower than 4 or 5 is throw out. The polls need to be revised, but to throw random computer analysis into the formula and have it count for half (?) is just silly.
