That play by Wilson on the TD was unbelievable.

I like the stop in and pick idea. Just curious Filk, why would you trade your 1st rounder for a second rounder straight up?
-
"I'm sorry, but Cunningham and Moon just don't belong in the same company as the above men" Who is God's name ever said Randall Cunningham should be in a group of legends? I will reiterate. I won't dispute the fact that the media probably wouldn't mind having a black QB become great. But the media is not giving out undue acclaim to any black QBs just to make it happen.

Sunday night doesn't work for me. Nor would tomorrow night.

It was mentioned in the week 5 thread that bravesfan might not be settled in yet, so I just figured I would throw it up there this week. 12 wins were needed for the 80% bonus and no one got it. After hearing the statements made by Berman and ESPN, I think a half assed statement is made at the beginning of the show and that's it. I am more interested to see what FOX and CBS do.
-
Normally if you do a head to head, you get in your players before each match up. If there are no game limits, I think daily is fine. If there are game limits, I think you should get them in before the match up. That way it prevents people from stocking their line up daily for the first 10 weeks and after that they will end up running nobody out there and handing wins to whoever plays them.
-
I get what you are saying. I just like any chance I can to take a shot at Irvin. Didn't they also get rid of Young saying that Koy Detmer would be better at running the offense in replayed clips?
-
I think TOs should be two or three at most. I also don't think that you should be penalized for personal fouls.
-
It doesn't matter with Irvin though. Excusing Terrell Owens' antics, because it wasn't the QB or head coach, showed how much his opinion is worth.
-
Bringing Trent Dilfer up will never help anything. A legendary D, the ability to turn and hand off the ball, and the ability to not throw five INTs a game handed him a ring.

How many people have ever actually said that McNabb is a great QB? He is generally regarded as a good QB who can make great things happen with his playmaking.
-
"I thought we might have gotten to the point where a black QB can be criticized as being horribly overrated" And we have reached that point. Look at it this way. Put two announcers together. Announcer A: "I think McNabb is showing that he was overrated the last couple of years and didn't contribute as much to that team as we all though." OK, someone might not agree, but that is a valid opinion. Announcer B: "McNabb is overrated and the reason he was given the praise is because he is black." You don't see the difference between those two statements?
-
"McNair = one SB appearance, zero wins, yet portrayed as superhuman by the ESPN crew." I don't take McNair's history into account because until two years ago he wasn't great. But he has become a great QB/leader. What did he have, like a 94% completion rate last week. "McNabb = zero SB apperances, got to the NFC title games as much b/c of D and the Duce as himself." True, but as already stated, when a team gets to two straight conference championships without a legendary D or some other story, it is going to be viewed as the QB leading a team to the game. "Culpepper = zero SB appearances, too lazy to check back how many NFC title games he's appeared in. I think it was proven that Moss and company have as much to do with their success as he does. It's not like the team suffered w/o him on Sunday." I don't think anyone has handed him a great QB label or really given him a blowjob. People acknowledge he can make plays, but hasn't been the greatest passer.
-
Don't give me Mike Vick. If Mike Vick was white and did the things he did last year, he would get the praise. People aren't fawning all over him, because he is black. When you are the most exciting player in the league, you usually get some pub.

Tens of thousands of pills?!? That man must be a fucking tank. I love those things. Not enough to just say he is a drug abuser, it must be tens of thousands of pills.

I don't doubt that the media likes a good successful black QB story. The problem lies in the fact he says that is the reason McNabb was given credit for the Eagles success. I don't despise Limbaugh or anything. I just don't care about him. His segments just seemed so confrontational just to be confrontational. It's like if you speak loudly, your opinions mean more. I have that problem with the whole ESPN staff on the show, actually. They can't go more than 5 seconds without talking over each other. And Michael Irvin can rot in hell. (just thought I would throw that in)
-
Anything I have heard about McNabb lately has revolved around the fact he is a terrible passer and "is he as good as we thought?". If anyone has been getting the blow job from the media it is Steve McNair. And after seeing a couple Titans games this year, I am starting to believe the hype about him.
-
Just an add-on. He doesn't even realize he is wrong. Yes, the media handed McNabb everything. Lord knows that noone has been criticizing his play over the last month. The fact of the matter is that the QB (white or black) always gets to much of the credit and/or blame. Unless a defense is Tampa type good where it completely overshadows the offense, it will generally be regarded as the QB leading a team to a conference championship.

I haven't watched ESPN countdown at all since the first week. I always liked FOX more, but with Rush and Irvin I was muting it every five seconds. I don't mind a non-player on there so you get a fan/unconnected opinion. But they made such a big deal having the graphic come up that Rush was coming up. Give me a break. It was a cowardly way out, because he didn't even have to issue an apology.

It was where I did it in word, I had a bunch of blank space so I could move names around instead of typing them in order of score.

I just figured the point was he wanted to mock one of JR's stupid ass catchphrases. What bugged me about the match was what happened after the match. By what happened there, people who buy a ticket now have the right to get in the ring if they feel like it. That was the first time I ever remember a guy just showing up with the ticket gimmick and immediately hopping over the rail. Usually they at least sit in the front row until something important happens.
