Of course my favorite thing right now is seeing the reaction to McDougle getting cut on the Eagles message board. Apparently he is going to go to the Giants (a possibility) and become a killer, since he played well against second and third stringers this preseason. That negates 5 years of injury and bustitude. It seems they should have cut Chris Clemons, his 8 sacks last year are over twice what McDougle has done in his career, and only didn't because there would have been $4mil in dead money. I guess that is a good sign, when the biggest "end of the season" proclamations are about the 53rd man on the roster.

The rule fucked the Eagles last year against the Bears. On the Bears game winning drive, Kruetz snapped it and it did not touch Griese (or anybody). Therefore it was called a false start on Kruetz. Now it would be a fumble.

The Eagles can finish anywhere from 12-4 to 6-10 and not be a shock to me. When looking at the defense, I really like the linebackers. Gocong, Bradley, and Gaither should provide an athletic ability they haven't had there in a while. On the same token there is the chance that once the league gets more tape on Bradley and Gocong they become exposed. The CBs are an elite group, since there is no chance they trade Lito at this point. The CBs being that good is necessary, because Mikell and the slowing Dawkins are better in run support than pass at this point in their careers. Although Mikell is much better than I expected. I am a big believer in this defense (and Bradley specifically), but there are plenty of questions there. One other note, 6th round pick Joe Mays plays just like a Jeremiah Trotter clone. On offense, Curtis being out hurts big time. He had solid chemistry with McNabb and a group of Curtis, Brown, and Jackson would have been fine. It is now going to be another situation with all of the WRs being forced into roles over what they should be. That said, I really like the DeSean Jackson and you can tell Reid does too since he sat the 4th preseason game. Reggie Brown is what he is at this point, around 50 catches 700 yards and a few TDs. I do worry about the red zone production again this year. That was their big problem last season. They could move the ball between the 20s no problem. They say they have implemented a fade pass game with Hank Baskett, but I will believe it when I see it and I am sick of hearing LJ Smith until he actually starts producing down there. The giant upgrade is in the return game. Jackson on punts and Quentin Demps on kicks gives them the home run threats they have lacked since Brian Mitchell. If they don't combine to return a few kicks for TDs this season I'll be shocked. At the very least their average field position should improve by 10 yards, bare minimum. Miserable stat from one of the papers over the last couple weeks: their longest kickoff return last season was (I believe) 35 yards. At some point you should luck into a return of more than that. Order of injuries that would hurt team: 1. Westbrook (Booker would put up solid fantasy stats, but the team would die) 2. Trent Cole (he is their only legit pass rusher) 3a and b. Jon Runyan/Tra Thomas 5. McNabb (I think Kevin Kolb could handle the job at this point)

I am loving the DeSean Jackson. He is much more legit as a receiving threat than I was expecting right off the bat.

Marvin is a no go for that Saturday time slot. So there is a second objection. If anyone else has a problem with the Saturday time/day, I'll set the draft back to Tues the 26th at 9pm and whoever can't make it will just have to pre-rank.
-
Does anyone else have a problem with dorking it up on Sat. the 30th at 10pm-ish EST? I have no issues with that. As of this point if Saturday would be a problem for people, I would likely set it at next Tues the 26th (pushing it back a day) at 9pmEST. So work off that assumption if the objections to Sat. roll in.
-
What about pushing it back a day and an hour? Would that cause any new objections? Beyond that time wise, no, as I am not staying up past midnight on a weeknight to do this.
-
agreed, locked in at 16. Does anyone have a problem with the draft time (25th at 8pm est)? I went with the usual, put it during Raw route, just as a place holder. But if no one has objections we can leave it there.

Well, I leave for the week tomorrow, so I am going to throw out my ranking now (I think it is safe to assume none of the remaining picks would really shake anything up more than at most a one spot swap at the bottom of the list) 1. Black Flagg The top of this draft was just a firing squad aimed at the top of my list. 2. Jebus Conan and The Simpsons are both high end obviously, with plenty of volume. I like the run from rounds 11-14. 3. Mole I love me the Bones and obviously am gay for the Firefly, with another 5 or 6 shows to supplement. Would have hopped over Jebus, but there just isn't the volume in the Firefly/Bones duo as Conan/Simpsons. 4. RepoMan Not much depth, but The Office and South Park would be in my top 6-8 overall so snagging both of them is big to me. 5. YNA Dexter and Kids In The Hall were up there on my overall list. Fan of Sports Night, MNF gets me some sports volume, and this would finally be my chance to sit down and watch the HBO series that I just never get around to. 6. Darthtiki Getting the whole Buffyverse was solid. And have to admit my enjoyment of the Dawson's Creek. Run through the whole series a couple times from reruns during my unemployed stretch. 7. Treble A lot of shows I really like, just nothing I love that I would bump the top shows from the 6 above for. 8. Milky MST3K and Chappelle are money. The Roseanne pick was terrific, one of the few after the first few rounds that pissed me off as I had it lined up. 9. Gosunkugi 10. C Dubya 04 These two are basically 9 and 9a. Fall into the same area as treble where I like the shows (just a couple less each), just don't love any. 11. Canadian Brandon 12. Canadian Chris 13. Gwil 14. Jorge

Picks to make (as best I can tell): Treble - 5 Darthtiki - 5 Canadian Brandon - 5 Gwil - 7 Jorge Gorgeous - 8 RepoMan - 8

If that article is accurate (given that it is all from the agent, there has to be a grain of salt aspect to it) or even halfway accurate, that is pretty terrible. It certainly doesn't look like they are taking the Westbrook stance of wanting to be treated like a UFA.
-
Has there been any talk about the numbers Grant is looking for? It could be a situation like Westbrook's, where by all accounts the team wants to do something for him, but Westbrook seems to be negotiating like he is a UFA and not a guy with 3 years still left on his deal.

Possible Phillies trade on the horizon. JA Happ was pulled early from his AAA start. After the Blanton trade (ugh), I'm a scared.
