    Desert Island Draft

24 Sure there are some goofy B stories (Teri's amnesia, anything involving Kim), but I have never had appointment viewing like I have with this show. Jack Bauer doing his thing just gets the blood flowing. Plus, I just finished season 2 again and the room still gets dusty when George Mason gets the silent clock. Considered going with something funny (likely the Office), but looking at a couple of lists I did up I realized once I got past the elite shows, there were more passable comedies than non-comedies. So we are going with position scarcity here as another factor.

Sorry man, my bad. Been sending out trade offers in a few leagues and forgot if that was one I sent or considered sending.

So the Eagles should be investigated for convincing Matt Walsh (or whoever the "mystery man" may be) to go to a Boston Herald reporter before the Super Bowl and lie about having a walkthough of a practice for a game they weren't even involved in years ago?

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - conference finals

Someone needs to remind Marty Biron that he is not Marty Brodeur when it comes to the puckhandling. They have to dress either Cote or Downie for game 2 just to get some energy in the lineup. Oh, and Jaroslav Modry still sucks at life. Always good when the announcer uses the word "mosey" to describe a defensemman bringing the puck up ice while on the PP.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - conference finals

The worst part of this isn't necessarily the first pairing. I think Hatcher-Coburn will be fine, they have shown excellent chemistry together. Coburn is fast enough to cover for Hatcher and Hatcher is more than willing to punch Crosby in the mouth. The problem is the second pairing for Malkin's line is going to be a nightmare. I would imagine Jones since he is playing well this postseason would play with Smith. You know they'll run Smith out there even though he is terrible, with all of his oozing veteranocity. They are going to have to devote either the Carter or Richards line to solely shutting them down, no taking chances because they can't rely on anyone behind them.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - conference finals

I can't believe the series doesn't start until Friday. They need a week off why exactly? I could understand if the Stars didn't finish off their series last night and they didn't want to start one conference without the other, but come on let's get this show on the road. And I haven't the slightest which Flyers team (and which Biron) is going to show up. The one thing that I really like going into this series is that Umberger kills Pittsburgh and he clearly has a ton of momentum coming off the Montreal series.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - round deux

I don't know, I think Briere gives him a run for his money. It depends on if you think the little wispy mustache of the kid who always hit puberty first in your class is worse than the ability to grow nothing other than some random hairs that don't seem to form anything. For full disclosure, I only get the Koy Detmer Neckbeard so I can't kill anyone too much.

2008 Stanley Cup playoffs - round deux

This is fucking ridiculous. Briere gets boarded and it isn't called (it was touchy so I wasn't really pissed), then Richards gets called for boarding without the guy he hit actually touching the boards?!? I don't know how anyone can possibly say the Flyers aren't playing 7-5 here with a straight face.

I like Amendola. No reason he can't project to be a Wes Welker type (as much as any of these guys project to a current player). Surprised someone needing a slot receiver didn't take a chance on him. Oh, and here is hoping the Panthers suck balls next year and their 1st turns into Michael Crabtree. Yes, I am going to start beating that drum right now. That kid is just ridiculous.

Another UDFA I really like is J Leman, every Illinois game I saw he seemed to be involved in every tackle. Edit: nevermind, he is a Viking now. That was quick

I found it pretty funny that Flacco was praised by Mortensen and Kiper because he had an "accurate arm that could throw 15-20 yards on a rope" , and "still shined as a quarterback with a weak season schedule and strong receivers". What? That was the same things people knocked him [brennan] for! Colt has tested better at accuracy than Flacco at every measure, and Flacco's arm is weak at the deep ball. What makes these guys different at all? A couple of things: Flacco throwing the ball 74 yards or something like that in the air at that skills competition (remember, this is the team that picked Boller because he could throw 50 yards from his knees) and 6'6" 236 vs. 6'2" 207 Not saying I disagree about Flacco being overrated, but that is probably what separated them. Personally, I have a hard time buying into a guy as a 1st rounder who transferred because he couldn't beat out Tyler Palko.

I love the way the weekend turned out. Adding Lorenzo Booker and a 1st and a 5th next year, while still getting Jackson in round 2 was terrific. Laws will be a solid 3rd DT behind Patterson and Bunkley Demps gives them a solid S prospect Ike has big time talent and can be stashed for the season McGlynn provides some Oline depth being able to play anywhere And then the standard Andy Reid, fill out the draft with random linemen The only pick that was a real huh pick was the third rounder, an undersized DE from a small school. All while not giving away Lito, so they still either have a bullet to still fire or they keep a terrific 2nd CB. I'd still like to see them add one of Bowman, Marcus Monk, or even a Todd Blythe/Mario Urrutia level WR in the UFA process.

At least with Brennan you could argue he was a product of Hawaii and their competition. Woodson put up monster numbers in "the greatest football conference in the universe". I'd be thrilled if to have him at this point. Put him on the Brunell, Hasselbeck, Feeley program for a couple years and turn him into a pick through trade.

I also think it is pretty ridiculous that Woodson is still on the board. I don't understand how he could be a potential top-10 pick 6 months ago and today is still around in the 6th. Whatever skills he had then are still in that body somewhere. Sure he could have been overrated before, but not this much.

I'd like to see Adarius Bowman with the next pick. If he proves to be the cocksucker he is reported to be or does prove to be too slow for WR, then cut him. But this late where the Eagles are likely drafting practice squad fodder anyway, take the chance. There isn't any doubting his production at OkSt.

I am shocked the Eagles didn't package some of their picks to move up, as they aren't going to have roster room for the rest of their picks. It is why I love the Ikegwuono pick as they'll be able to redshirt him on the IR this season and have a guy with legit talent coming back in 09.

Terrific day 1 for Andy Reid, IMO. No one would have batted an eye if they took Jackson at the 19, they get him 30 picks later and grab a no.1 next season and Lorenzo Booker in the process.

Given that Tenn passed on WR, you have to wonder how bad this WR class is viewed in the FOs.

I can't take this again this year trading out of the first round. Might not be a bad deal, depending on the return, but christ my heart can't take it.

So with Flacco going to Balt, that leaves Mendenhall on the board. Westbrook + Mendenhall would be freaking awesome, won't happen (probably shouldn't happen), but that would be sick.
