  2. I saw it, liked it well enough. But I feel for anyone who isn't very familiar with the first four. There were times I had to pause and try to remember who was who.

One problem I did have with it:

Along the lines of the DreadCentral review mentioning that the pendulum trap would cost something around 100k to set up. I didn't have a problem with this trap until it was revealed that this was not Jigsaw, but instead Hoffman's first setup. Really? He would be capable of constructing that on his first try? After that reveal it did seem a bit far fetched. Especially considering that that occured before Jigsaw even did the barbwire cage from the first movie, so you can't even use the argument that he has been able to copy from previous Jigsaw crime scenes.

I was a bit surprised at the end in so much as

I was expecting it to be set up that the FBI boss found Straum in the room with Hoffman in the box and it was set up to be a death by cop. As it was though, I did enjoy Hoffman's fuck you look as he went down.

One thing I really fear is

the pig mask being in the box and Jill becoming involved with the killings in the next one

. That does not interest me in the slightest.

The group game was a decent enough B story, nothing special with an obvious lesson and tacked on "link". And good lord Julie Benz's boob job was in it's full glory in this one.

  5. Rangers win 4-3. Shitty since the Rangers were probably tired playing the back-to-back nights, and all the travel they've had to do this past week. Not shitty since the Flyers never quit and almost tied it numerous times, but those are the things they need to do to contend in this division. Digging a 4-0 hole in the first period will not see very many comebacks.

I am along the opposite thought line here. Facing a team that already had played three games before your own opener is not going to be a good thing and I think that is how it played out with the Rangers ready at the drop of the puck.

That said I don't know whether to be impressed or distressed that Luca Sbisa is the third best defenseman on the team at this moment. I really really like what I saw out of him once they saved him by taking him away from Kukkonen (jesus christ he sucked tonight), but an 18 year old being your #3 isn't a good thing.

Also, it is impressive that they couldn't even go a period into the season before lighting the fuse for a goalie controversy.

  7. Because Philadelphia fans have not made the news for a while

Philadelphia, PA – October 8, 2008) Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, the nation’s most popular hockey mom, will join the winner of the Philadelphia Flyers regional search for the “Ultimate Hockey Mom” contest and drop the puck at the ceremonial opening face-off as the home team Flyers host the New York Rangers at the Wachovia Center on Saturday, October 11 at 7 p.m.

“Because of the tremendous amount of publicity she has brought to our sport, we invited the most popular hockey mom in North America to our home opener to help us get our season started,” said Comcast-Spectacor Chairman Ed Snider who founded the Flyers in 1967. “We are very excited she has accepted our offer and we are very proud of the publicity she is generating for hockey moms and the sport of hockey.”

The Flyers have been searching for the ultimate hockey mom in the Greater Philadelphia Region through an on line contest which asked hockey players or hockey moms themselves to submit their hockey mom poster to the team.

Hockey moms and players were encouraged to submit posters showing their hockey mom pride and their loyalty and dedication to the sport via the team’s website, philadelphiaflyers.com, by October 7. The team will award all hockey moms entered into the contest with a free "puck-er peach" lipstick and four tickets to a Philadelphia Phantoms hockey game. The winner will appear on the ice with Palin for opening face-off.

  10. I have no idea why the Eagles got away from Buckhalter running the ball in the second half. I think that is part of why the O-line had a rough second half, the Steelers has no need to look for the run (except a few Booker runs, but you don't need to look run to stop him).

And that flea flicker where McNabb got hurt was fucking stupid. At the time he was 15/15, there was no need for a trick pass play when you are gouging them with real pass plays.

That said, great defensive performance and Sav Rocca looks like he has figured out the American game which is nice to see.
