In WCW I can't think of any guy kicking out after the Scorpion Deathdrop.
-
I'd probably support Yeovil, we usually play them in a friendly every summer and the fans are a lot better than some of the gloryhunters we get. Edit: If they were local Crewe wouldn't be a bad team to support, Dario Gradi is one of the best managers in England, they play a nice style of football and because They Sell their star player for big money(by their standard) every couple of years(Rob Jones,Danny Murphy and David Platt) there's no financial pressure on them to be in the top 2 divisions.

Any opinions on the best shill? Mine would be the Scorpion King one involving Booker T and Goldust.
-
The Premier of Assault on Devil's Island wasn't much better either, I feel sorry for the people who watched that just to see a quick Sting/Hogan contract signing.
-
What annoyed me was when would be a backstage segment involving WWF/E video games, I remember in 2000 D'Lo Brown playing Smackdown 1 backstage, Kurt Angle showing up with advice for D'Lo only to be interrupted by Sgt. Slaughter who had a message for D'Lo, an annoyed Angle then challenged Slaughter to a match. Edit: How many times did the Friendly Tap get shown? That place must have been on TV at least 5 times.

I liked how every couple of weeks they'd sneak in a quick mention of the Brisco Brothers Body Shop, Kane having a sign on his back during an interview was far better than spending about 20 minutes of a show promoting stuff like Rollerball. Edit: The Highlander: Endgame plug was ok.

I remember a shill for Dude, where's my car? on a Smackdown in 2000, I think Tazz,Edge and Christian were involved.

Dynamite Kid was only one half of a tag team, and today complaints are made about Rob Van Dam, Rey Mysterio, Booker T and Rene Dupree having been thrown together in tag teams, rather than receiving singles pushes. Until the 90's themselves, the feud between Bret Hart and Shawn Michaels was a long ways away and never speculated by the 80's fan base. And for the record, Demolition and the Hart Foundation were both heel tag teams for the majority of their tag team careers. The Dynamite Kid was a tag team wrestler when it wasn't deemed a "punishment", he knew he wouldn't be in the main events, he even says in his book that his goal was to be the best wrestler in the world and not the best talker or the guy with the best gimmick(which he'd need to be a World Champion at his size) Personally I saw Hart and Michaels as the best members of their teams and guessed they'd feud, the only surprise was it being over the World Title(I know they feuded before that but everyone remembers the later one) Demolition were the top tag faces for 18 months, the Harts were the number 2 team for over 2 years and were the top faces for about 8 months.

The 80s had Dibiase,Steamboat,Savage,Hennig,Hart Foundation,British Bulldogs,Valentine,Santana,Martel,Rougeaus,Orton,Muraco and others. Even the jobbers like Horowitz,Young Stallions,Lanny Poffo,Brady Boone and iron Mike Sharpe were decent.

You forgot to mention that Hogan made at least twice as much money as HHH.As for Hogan's politics at least the Workers would actually like being on the same house show crew as Hogan because it guaranteed more money. I'd say Bret and Dynamite were used pretty well, Tiger Mask and Mascaras were never full time in the company, I'll admit Owen was misused until 94 and Michaels was in the number 3 face tag team in the late 80s(behind Demolition and the Hart Foundation) and it seemed obvious that him and Bret would get singles runs during the 90s. I'd say the guys above "went big", all were near the top of the card during the 80s and most(except Steamboat who had a hot program with Savage which must have headlined some cards) had a run with the world champion during the decade. Edit: If you want to really see the difference between then and now look at all the tag teams during the 80s like Demolition, Hart Foundation, British Bulldogs, Rougeaus, Rockers,Young Stallions, Brain Busters,Powers of Pain, Can-Am Connection, US Express, The Dream Team and Adonis and Murdoch. When guys had nothing to do or were on the way up they'd be put in a tag team and have something to do, now they just job them on Heat for months until they have an idea.

I actually think that Portsmouth are alright with Joe Jordan and Zajec running things, since Harry left they've done well in the league and they're now getting points away from home(which was Harry's weakness)

How's the club financially? I ask because the values of your players are dropping by the match, Reid and Dawson were rated at nearly 5 million in the summer but now you'll be lucky to get that for the pair. If you go down you'll have an even harder job of getting good money for them, the most a club in Division 2/League 1 has received is 3.5 million(that was us for Akinbiyi) and that was during the transfer fee madness where a decent Prem player cost about 5 million. Edit: Anyone see the game last night? I watched it because Fulham took Liam Rosenior from us and the arrogant little sod did very well, Fulham have done well by Converting him from a right Winger into a right back. Here's what I mean by "arrogant little sod", he basically thought he was 2 good for us so refused to turn up for pre season training even though he hadn't had a contract offer from any other clubs and we still had his registration, All we got for him was 55k and a 20% sell on clause.

I've a feeling that he'll be gone if you don't beat Leicester on Friday, since it's on Sky I'm guessing there'll be lots of "Kinnear out" banners. Edit: Personally I think you'll have a hard job beating Leicester, they've got a really good Goalie in Stuart Taylor and I think some of your players are just counting the days until January 1st.

80's 1) Ted Dibiase(the debut videos are the main reason) 2) Bobby Heenan 3) Fabulous Rougeau Brothers 4) Slick 5) Hart Foundation(because of Neidharts laugh, Jimmy Harts megaphone, Danny Davis and the pink tights) 90's 1) La Parka 2) The Mountie(the Quebecers were good as well) 3) Norman Smiley 4) Chris Jericho(1998 until he turned face in the WWF) 5) The Cat(because of the Norton feud, the Yung Dragons thing and selling Glacier's armour to Kaz Hayashi)

That's actually a pretty good tape with Savage/Virgil(Virgil's 1st WWF match) and a Jumping Bomb Angels match.

WCW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot

Got some questions on the Bill Watts era, most of these questions are based on watching wcw classics which is almost up to September 92 but sadly has about 3 shows left before it's cancelled. Was he planning to have a Rude/Simmons Starrcade match? I ask because on worldwide they're building up a US Title vs. World Title feud. Did the Barbarian and Barry Windham ever have a singles match against each other? They've had Barbarian knock out Windham with his Big Boot in a 6 man tag match and seem to be starting a feud. What was the on screen explanation for Paul E. Dangerously losing most of his wrestlers, I think he only manages Austin at the Moment. Why was Cactus Jack getting wins over Ricky Steamboat and Dustin Rhodes? was Watts going to feed him to Simmons? When did Erik Watts debut? We've seen him sitting in the crowd and training with Rhodes and Windham but he hasn't wrestled yet. -
Look on the bright side, At least your club has won a major trophy in their lifetime, all Bristol City is known for is being a club that has been asleep for 25 years, being 1 of the few clubs to go from Division 1 to 4 in straight years, the bankruptcy scare in 82 where 8 players voluntarily had their contracts cancelled, ending the Liverpool reign of Graeme Souness and turning Andy Cole and Ade Akinbiyi into 5 Million Pound Players. Liverpool have more activity in a decade than we have had in a 100 years. Edit: I'd kill for us to be in the premiership, we may take the piss out of Swindon for letting in a hundred goals and lasting one season there but we'd have loved to have been them for that season.

That sounds a bit like Tommy Rich in ECW. Edit: He'd say that the FBI had defeated the Von Erichs for the World 6 Man Championship in Dallas Texas. He also mentioned the FBI beating the Koloffs and Freebirds as well.

"Jazz just grabbed Simon's Dick"

Bad News Brown would have been perfect in the attitude days. Brady Boone and Lanny Poffo were standouts because of their high flying stuff while getting squashed. Edit: You can add Great Muta and Terry Funk in 89 as well.
-
Don't forget Dick Hurtz.
-
It would have been Hawk wrestling singles with Animal as manager because of his back injury.

What's the worst WCW Nitro Ever?
deancoles replied to UseTheSledgehammerUh's topic in General Wrestling
Some of the early 1 hour Nitro's were bad, you'd have the Hogan and Friends vs. Dungeon of Doom/Horsemen thing for at least half of it and then you'd have a couple of random matches thrown out there usually involving DDP,Alex Wright,Harlem Heat and Johnny B. Badd. -

What would have been the Starrcade 99 main event had Russo not come in? Sting/Goldberg would have made the most sense but this is WCW we're talking about. Edit: Hogan/Hart wouldn't have been bad either as long as the World Title stayed out of it.
