Some things you just can't quite put your finger on.

Another shitty thing to think about. Right now there are legitimately only three guys who could win the Rumble: Orton, Batista, or Cena.

That's the problem. Nobody buys him at all. He just seems like he's trying too hard to be like the Rock. For those that were complaining in the summer about HHH being the face in the feud, Orton as the face is much worse. They should have had Orton stay heel. They might have had a shot then. Nobody is going to cheer for Orton over HHH,l let alone the badass Batista. They could have split Orton from Evolution without turning him into a shove-down-the-throat babyface. He would have been fine as a lone wolf tweener type character that was still a snotty prick. He'll never get over as a face because the fans see through him and realize he's a douche.

I hope anyone who didn't pick HHH in the EC match realizes their mistake now and will never do it again.

Randy Orton is young, good looking, and getting better in the ring. But he will NEVER EVER EVER be over huge as a babyface because he's a complete and utter tool, and nothing will ever help him overcome that.

Maybe they'll do the 94 Rumble finish, and then Batista gets cheered like Bret and Orton booed like Lex so Vince can decide what to do at Mania.

    OAO New Years Revolution Thread

It's kind of a boring time in the WWE. There are plenty of great in-ring workers, yes, but it's not their time. Jericho, Benoit, Eddie, Rey, even a solid worker like Booker...their job right now is just to put others over. They aren't going to receive any big push anytime soon. There are plenty of new young guys on the rise...but are any of them exciting? Shelton Benjamin is, I'd have to say. But Hassan? He showed tonight he can't work a match. Chris Masters? He'll be debuting soon and get a huge push, but he's just another musclehead who can't work. Cena? Over like crazy, but isn't much in the ring. Snitsky and Heidenreich? Do I really need to say anything? Eugene is starting to get booed, and it's only a matter of time before they HAVE to turn him. Undertaker is back to his cartoonish days, and nothing he does interests me. All the women on the shows are just a random set of tits. So okay, some of the workers aren't the best. But good writing can make up for less than great in-ring talent, right? Uggh. Is there anything at Wrestlemania you people are excited about? If they do HBK vs. Edge and not HBK vs. Angle, is there ANYTHING you're dying to see at this point?

I wonder if they go HHH vs. Orton or HHH vs. Orton vs. Batista at WM.

Everyone knew HHH would win anyways, but the result of the match was REALLY given away when Orton pinned HHH on RAW.

HHH is now champ because of Batista. That's the storyline they're going with. They'll turn him. Calm down.

Meltzer: "Batista carried HHH on his shoulders in victory when it was over. Main event was a great match. I don't think people will be happy with who won, but based on where they are going the next few months, it was probably the only way. Show ended about 15 minutes early as the match was about 35 minutes."

    OAO New Years Revolution Thread

Meltzer: "We're opening with Eugene & William Regal vs. Tyson Tomko & Christian for the tag team titles. Eugene pinned Tomko with a schoolboy using the tights. They are selling a knee injury for Eugene which will probably play into the show tomorrow night. Regal's nose was bloodied again. Crowd is pretty easy. Edge confronted Christian after the match and they have a plot to make Christian world champion." Keller: "1 -- EUUGENE & WILLIAM REGAL vs. TYSON TOMKO & CHRISTIAN -- World Tag Team Title match Eugene dressed up as "The Hulkster" (as Jim Ross called him, rather than Hulk Hogan). Eugene led the crowd in a chant of "Christian sucks." Lawler said if he dresses up as his idols, he should wear a crown next week. After some initial offense, Eugene sold for a few minutes. He then Hulked up, pointed at Christian, backdropped Christian, and then tagged in Regal at 6:00. Tomko, though, quickly took over offense on Regal. Christian tagged in and settled into a chinlock. Regal began bleeding from the nose after a forearm by Christian. Tomko gave Regal a forearm. They double-teamed him as the ref was preoccupied with Regal. At 13:00 Regal hot-tagged Eugene and went to work on Tomko with Hogan's style of punches. The crowd was totally into everything. Eugene clutched his knee after he threw a dropkick. Ross said he might have blown it out. He hugged it and wouldn't budge. Tomko tried to lift him, but Eugene wouldn't go up with him. Eugene hopped on one leg and rolled up Tomko for the win. He then kept gripping his knee afterward. It looked legit and serious. Three refs came to tend to him. The fact that he went into the cradle finish was gutsy and resourceful. He worked his way to the ring apron where he screamed in pain when he moved. He seemed totally out of character with his facials, just concerned with not being in terrible pain. WINNERS: Eugene & Regal at 16:00 to retain the tag titles. STAR RATING: *1/2 -- Pretty formula match that never really shifted out of first or second gear. Okay, though."

I thought Meltzer had said that the ticket sales had been going well, even though Puerto Rico is mostly a show up the day of the event crowd.

I missed it, what did Moss do?
  22. I always find it funny they offer big things to people that are on their way out of the company as they're leaving. For HHH, a tag title run with Regal. For Flair...more money than you could shake a stick at. For Jericho, promise of a bigger push For Benoit, the World title. For Raven, a promise of a big feud with the Kiss Demon.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

I think Vince started to feel the heat during the first few months of 92. He was dealing with a lot of issues at the same time - both the sexual harrasment scandal and the steroid scandal. He appeared on Larry King Live with other guests Bruno Sammartino, Barry O, and perhaps someone else. Both topics were covered. It was pretty much everyone ganging up on Vince, and probably justifiably so. Look at some of the guys who were let go during this time - the Warlord, Hercules, Chris Walker (an enhancement guy on his way up; had a Warrior look). One could make an argument that they were useless at that point but the WWF is usually strong on pushing useless hosses. At the same time those guys were let go, Vince brought back Warrior and pushed Davey Boy Smith to the sky, giving him the match at Wembley. Davey was eventually let go in November after, IIRC, failing a drug test. Vince was indicted in the fall of 93. The trial "officially" began in probably the late spring of 94. It ended shortly before Summer Slam. Vince was off TV during the trial. I seem to remember a live studio Raw days before Summer Slam with Vince and Lawler in which a caller congratulated Vince on winning the case. I don't think the wrestling mags were covering it that much so I didn't have a clue as to what she was talking about. So why let Hercules and Warlord go, but resign Warrior and push Bulldog to the IC title? It's funny looking back to 1994 how that was really the year of the guys that weren't as big; The Harts, HBK, 123 Kid, Backlund, etc.

    WWF/E Tidbits from the past

Rumors going into WM11 had Owen's hart tag team partner either being Yoko or Benoit. Meltzer mentioned it would likely be Benoit, and they'd get a huge push from the WWF. Odd that that never happened. The WWF tried to get Steve McMichael and William Perry to face Owen Hart and Yokozuna at Summerslam 1995.
  25. WCW offered HHH a tag team title run with Steven Regal in early 1995 to try and get him to stay, but Trips jumped to the WWF anyways.
