You know that scummiest wrestling urban legends thread over at the DVDVR boards? Well this is like that, except not about scum, and about WCW instead. (Yeah, it won't get quite as much attention!) Anyways, post stuff here that you think some/many/all of the readers here didn't know. You know, proposed angle ideas that never happened, backstage gossip, all that crap. Or reminisce about some Nitro main event that everyone forgot, or a Thunder angle that nobody remembers today. Stuff like that. Go!

I thought it would be cool to start a thread devoted to all the common wrestling rumors, myths, stories, etc that we hear all the time and a place to clarify on this board once and for all whether or not they are true. For example: Wrestlemania 8: A common statement you'll hear is that Sid knew he was getting fired and kicked out of the leg drop of doom and no sold for Hogan to end the show. But I'm 99% sure the real answer is that Papa Shango was late getting to the ring...right? Wrestlemania 10: useless moron Scott Keith started rumors that the original plan was to do Ludvig Borga vs. Lex Luger in the main event, but Meltzer debunked those quickly. Meltzer also said that the whole thing with the main event getting changed the day of the show because of a newspaper article and Luger's big mouth is a myth as well, and that things went down completely as planned. Mind Games: Some say that the finish was changed and that if you look closely, you can see McMahon tell the ref of the change to a DQ finish. Meltzer responded to me on this one and said things went completely as planned, and that this is just a myth. IYH1: Another one we have from Keith is that the original plan for IYH#1 was a rematch from WM between Diesel and HBK. This was debunked by Meltzer as well. Final Four: Again, useless moron Scott Keith fucks up. He says in his rant that Steve Austin was originally booked to win the title, but it was switched mid match when Austin got hurt. Meltzer has called this bullshit. Now some rumors I want once and for all, complete clarification on: -Dibiase was supposed to win the WWF title at WM4, but it was switched to Savage when HTM wouldn't job the IC title to Savage. Fact or bullshit? -Hogan's black eye at WM9 was from a Randy Savage punch. Fact or bullshit? Feel free to add any of your own. And feel free to discuss any of the above mentioned incidents/rumors.

This thread will be devoted to posting some old school matches for you guys to hopefully download, and then discuss your thoughts, memories, reactions, etc to the matches. A feud recap going into the match by somebody would be cool too. so why did they have that match first? I thought maybe to save Orton vs Shane with a Steph heel turn at the end but that's next. So save RAW EC for last? Odd since it's so obvious how that'll end. Maybe we have some swerves still ahead of us tonight, something smells funny...

Does Taker have any other way of doing the Last Ride besides the punches in the corner? What a stale wrestler Exactly, its like people would figure out not to give him corner punches 20+ minutes into a match. Booking is interesting... See if they were going to do Edge vs HHH at Mania Edge would obv retain here and HHH would win at Mania. So HHH winning makes me think HHH vs Orton at Mania which makes me wonder what the hell they do with Edge and Cena now.

so when HHH wins this it seems like Orton would face him at Mania and then HHH can go back to RAW after Mania through the draft. But who does Cena then face at Mania if they go that route? Steph has to join Legacy tonight, right? After Shaqne saved her from that punt to the chest all the seeds were planted... Taker kicking out of pedigree = HHH about to win.

No Cryme Tyme, Goldust, or Ziggler in the Rumble? Surprised Ziggler didn't get put in, not that I care.

DH Smith tonight? Maybe Snuka/Manu come out with him and he turns on them and joins Orton/Rhodes, lol. Then Dibiase can come backa and join Manu/Snuka and you have 3 on both sides and then eventually team them all up. I dunno.

So is candace gonna have a crush on Punk so we can get some mixed tag matches with Regal/Layla? I guess?

Jericho better get back into the Rumble next week...or just show up during it and annihilate everybody at some point.

Haven't they done the psycho fan thing with Sable/Tori, and Trish/Mickie? And probably somebody else I'm forgetting too.

It was a weird finish to Punk/Rhodes as they easily could have had the ref's back turned and Regal cheap shots Punk to get him counted out instead of having him just look dumb. But oh well. At least Regal finally got a shot in at the end. Also a good sign for Punk that they didn't just put Rhodes over with a pinfall, as if they are trying to at least protect him somewhat. But Rhodes probably could have been made to look stronger.

Cena's Harry Carray impression was dead on but odd to hear without any real context. The Goldust bit was decent, Goldust is always entertaining.

I think the in-show movie promo things are going too far. I understand they want to hype the movie, but the ads do a good job of that. Just having slight mentions of it is so much better than the down your throat promotion of it that gets pretty sickening and annoying and makes you actively NOT want to rent it/buy it/whatever.

-Seemed kind of like a throwaway show tonight to be honest. Not throwaway in a bad way, just a show with no significant angle development whatsoever. I imagine they'll kick back into gear next week. -I liked Punk vs Jericho obviously, and thought Punk might win going in just to balance the match next week with faces and heels. -I liked Morrison/Miz backstage with Kelly, though the show needed them on it more. I think those guys are going to be huge, or at least can be. I would love to see a Morrison/Cena feud down the road to be honest. -I like Kofi Kingston more and more each week but the match with Manu was odd as it seemed to be out there for no real reason, which they've been doing less of lately (aside from random squashes to put somebody over). So I guess this was a babyface version of a squash, but I figured Manu would be winning as he's a part of this new heel stable and all. At least they played off it later with the tension with Orton, but people are already going to be seeing these guys as losers. I figure they'll protect Rhodes a lot more than Manu though to be honest. I can already see them teaming up Snuka/Manu because they aren't ultra-high on either guy so they can do the designated jobs for the stable, while they keep Orton and Rhodes strong. -If the company knew Batista was going to have to take a lot of time off, why the hell did he win at Armageddon? -Santino making Cena crack up was funny. -Still wondering where the hell the whole Kelly thing is going. -I liked the finish of the HBK/JBL match, and I expect more stuff next week with HBK helping JBL win and then being forced to lie down for him at the end, if they choose to go with JBL in that match. I really hope they do that instead of waste the Orton/Cena match already. -No Mike Knox makes me sad. -Trish was a nice surprise, Santino/Beth great as always. -Regal sure defends that IC title a lot, huh? -Seems like they're waiting to start that feud until at least next week, if not after the Rumble? -I thought they'd send of Sgt. Slaughter as a former champ to face Orton instead of giving him a walk. Thoughts from tonight's show: -Kind of a filler/storyline progression/storyline initiating show tonight, which are obviously necessary. -OK, so with the matches building to the RR title shot vs Cena we have a few options now. #1, JBL and HBK both make the fatal fourway match and JBL makes HBK help him/lay down for him and JBL gets the title shot at the Rumble. JBL still owes Cena a job from GAB so it's quite possible. #2 Orton takes advantage of a concussed Batista now and rolls through everybody #1 contendership. I thought that they'd save Orton/Cena for Mania but tonight seemed to be about shifting focus to Orton vs Cena already. #3 is Batista winning but after the concussion kick of death tonight I think it's less likely than before. Also if they wanted to do Cena vs Batista at the RR they probably could have just announced it tonight with Batista coming off a big ppv win but I guess then you wouldn't have two weeks of matches. But clearly it'd be weird to have him go over Orton at Armageddon and then have Orton challenge for the title at the Rumble anyways. -Kelly/Kane stuff had me interested and some continuity with Kelly not liking Miz. I was worried it would be a stereotypical Kane abusing a woman mentally thing all show but thankfully that was kept short. I'm wondering where this leads as obviously it's got to spurn some sort of a feud or something for Kane and I don't really know who/what/where it leads. But that's good. The only thing I can think of is a feud with Kofi Kingston but that doesn't make that much sense, but he is free and needs to be elevated and have something to do. Blah. -Ziggler's neckbreaker finisher is nice, he held a chinlock for too long in that match though. -Good tag title match but odd that they didn't just wait to do the title switch then. -Orton/Batista were awkward in their backstage segment and Grisham saying "you have a match tonight with Legacy vs you guys...Batista and John Cena" was funny, as if they didn't know what their own names were. -Not much Santino or Jericho on the mic tonight makes me sad. -For the matches next week Jericho obviously goes over Punk, and you would think that if Orton goes over Batista that means that we need two faces so Rey over JBL and HBK over Kane? If Batista goes over Orton then I would imagine we'd have Batista, Jericho, and then JBL/HBK. I think the latter might be more interesting but don't know which route they'll go.

They should also throw Sgt. Slaughter into one of those matches next week and make it triple threat!

Lawler: "They have to be successful against BOTH John Cena and Batista?" So the heels are DEFINITELY winning here as if they faces were going to win they'd be hyping it as against all odds handicapped match for the babyfaces, etc. So next week four matches featuring Kane, JBL, Jericho, Orton, Batista, Punk, Mysterio, and HBK? Sounds good.

Love the jumping neckbreaker thingy. Name possibilities? The Big Ziggler! The Ziiginator! The Zignature Neckbreaker!
