I think Frye can be that guy.
-
Well, he's about the same age as the top picks, and I feel like he'll be better than any of them. It's tougher to find a center with a low post game like his than what you'll find at the top of the draft. I'm optimistic because we now have young players. Those Layden teams of the past 3 years or so, we had no future.
-
You guys are too pesimistic when there's no reason to be. Six years ago the Pistons were what you would call a team that's going to stay mediocre for a while, not too bad, not too good, and with the Grant Hill trade, they suddenly started to build something nice.
-
The Bucks saved enough money to resign Redd, and sign Bobby Simmons. The others just saved more money. With a crazy ass free agent class coming up next year though, I think more teams will look for expiring contracts. Are people like Dennis Rodman, Danny Fortson and Kurt Thomas not power forwards? Lee is going to be that type of player.
-
No, Curry is better than anyone in the draft coming out, which is why that trade where we gave up that first rounder was fine. More like if we had to give up the first rounder for Curry, i'd do it.
-
I think so. It had something to do with him having to retire, so the contract was going to be void. That sucked.
-
Here are some more: Baron Davis to the Warriors. Keith Van Horn to the Mavericks. Antonie Walker back to the Celtics. Rahim and Ratliff to the Blazers (for Sheed that year). Jamal Crawford sign and trade to the Knicks. You're saying Marbury isn't a good player? Or teams who trade for expiring contracts don't know what they're doing? I don't understand.
-
Another one is Stephon getting traded to the Knicks . I'll look up some more.
-
It was from a trade like 6-7 years ago.
-
How is a power forward supposed to play like? And I think the Hawks got like Bob Sura, Chucky Atkins, Rebraca and some other scrubs. Expiring contracts.
-
Well, Rasheed Wallace was. His size might hurt him a bit, but I think he has the potential to be a Ron Artest type player, except 3 inches shorter.
-
Frye, Lee and Taylor do not play like PF's, but I'll still give you sorry ass Mo as a PF. The direction of the team is more of what I'm worried about. They're just making it so that their younger guys get less playing time, and it shows that they haven't learned shit from Layden's bad contracts. I don't think the Knicks have to worry about getting a big free agent, and teams don't trade for Jalen Rose. Or they already would have, because he's not a bad player. I watch the Knicks, and Frye, Lee, and Taylor are PFs. Whos going to get less playing time? Qyntel Woods? He'll be the backup SF. Robinson, Lee, and Frye will get the same play time, or even more with Davis gone (Lee and Frye). You don't get it. The Knicks have an expiring contract that can HELP ANOTHER team get someone like Dirk or Bibby. That's next year, the year before the summer of the big free agents. Hassan Adams is projected mid to late first round right now.
-
Double Post. Now the Knicks might be in position to draft Hassan Adams, who I like.

$17 million isn't added to the cap, it's just staying for a year longer, like it matters. It actually buys us time to do something with that money, if teams are desperate to trade away players so they have a chance at a Dirk Nowitzki or a Mike Bibby.
-
What? I don't understand how it's a bad trade for the Knicks. 1) The Knicks get a SF, something they desperately need. We don't need anymore PFs. We have Taylor, Frye and Lee, and we have Curry, James, and Butler at center. We don't need anymore size. 2) Rose's contract is only one year longer. Whether that money expires this year or the next, it doesn't make a difference, as the Knicks will still be way over the cap when it happens. 3) The year Rose's contract expires, is also the year before the summer of free agents such as Dirk, Bibby, and Pierce going out on the market. This will have more teams scrambling for expiring deals, than they have this year. 4) We get a 1st round pick, and Isiah is a good drafter. If any teams wishes to save money, he can package the 2 1st rounders for a higher choice, so it gives us flexibility. I don't understand how it's a bad trade really. It's not like OMG INCREDIBLE TRADE, but it's not bad.

Nate Robinson has been a starter at times this year. Then again, who hasn't for the Knicks. Lee could have gone too if Brown wasn't acting weird all year.
-
I rather have Curry over Morrison, Gay or Aldridge if that's what you're referring too. It's why Isiah made the trade. Next year sucks a bit though, because if we end up worse than the Bulls, we switch picks with them, although the Bulls shouldn't end up being too good. Tell me what young core group is full of franchise players? Frye and Robinson have the ability to be all-star players (ability, not saying they will, but have the ability). Lee and Ariza have the ability to become very good roleplayers. Crawford and Richardson are movable, and I wouldn't be surprised if both were moved by the deadline. Marbury is going to stay, and I don't have a problem with that since he really isn't the problem. You're right on James. And why the hell would we want to move Curry? 23 year old low post center who is just scratching the surface? He's staying. The Knicks, if they let their contracts expire in the next year will shed off Taylor, Houston, Penny, and Davis, shedding off like 50 million. So they aren't as deep in cap hell as you would think, and that would put them in the middle of the NBA in terms of salary.
-
He's basically building without the cap, which is what the Pacers, Pistons (with the exception of Billups, although they didn't really rebuild, since they never really started over), Kings, Spurs, and Mavs did. If you look at the ways they built their teams, they drafted and traded for all their important players. I've been supporting Brown, but he still hasn't settled on a rotation, and he keeps blaming the players. I don't know about him anymore.
-
It protects him. The organization would look bad in firing him, especially if he didn't do anything. Dolan is behind him.
-
The team is talented. In all the trades, he's gotten the better player (most of the time more money too, but the better play). I guess the players just don't fit as well as he originally thought they would. His worst move by far was Jerome James, but other than that, the other trades have their pros.
-
The Knicks aren't too far off from cutting down money, as long as they let the contracts expire, in 3 years, they'd be under the cap. Then again, no team is really under the cap, so that shouldn't be the goal. Not saying you don't let some of the contracts expire, but as long as we draft well, and make better trades, we'd be fine. David Lee not playing is one of my gripes, as he really hasn't played horribly, and recently we could use his rebounding.
-
During the 6 game win streak, when they beat Phoenix and Dallas, they were scoring a shitload of points. I don't know what happened.
-
Oh they have the talent. But when your coach yanks you as soon as you make a mistake, you have a different lineup for like 80% of the games in the season, and your coach hasn't settled on a rotation and we're in February, it's tough to win. You guys were up by like 30 and you still had Kobe in the game, what kind of fucked up shit was that? And you're telling me the game was over?
-
75% of the calls were bullshit. Especially the ones that they waited for him to miss the shot before they called anything. Davis gooned him at the end because he was getting like 20 calls, so he might as well get his moneys worth. And what the fuck kind of call was that on Channing Frye fouling Mihm? Mihm was trying to get position and started grabbing Channing's ass, and Channing gets called for the foul. You should thank Steve Javie.
-
Kobe gets more foul calls than fucking Jordan. You take a look at him and the refs are blowing the whistle. The Knicks played pitfully yesterday, but one of the reasons Larry got thrown out was because Kobe shot like 56 FTs, and Mihm and Kwame were allowed to walk all around the court. I like Andrew Bynum though, he's nice. And fuck the fans at the Garden, chanting for Kobe. It's a shame that we have fans like that (if it wasn't Laker fans chanting).
