Curtis Martin's blocking is underrated. Just throwing that out there.

Divisional Playoffs Prediction Thread
Brett Favre replied to therealworldschampion's topic in Sports
I'm not making predictions for the Jet/Steeler game, but what the Jets have going for them is Big Ben's inexperience in the playoffs, as well as not playing in about 3 weeks. Chad Pennington will have to throw downfield again in order to open up the defense for Curtis Martin and LaMont Jordan instead of the other way around. Jordan should play a big role in this game if given the chance; hopefully the Jets go back to the 3-4 spread with Jordan/Martin in the slot splitting with Wayne Chrebet to try and spread the ball around. Moss is going to be the deep threat, McCareins the inside threat, and Chrebet being back helps the 3rd down situation a bit. On the defensive end, they must, must shake up Ben early in the game, sack him a few times, and get him rattled. If they stop the running a game, they would be in good position to win this game by making Ben throw more times than he would be expected to throw. John Abraham playing would be a huge plus as double teaming him would only help Ellis, Robertson, and Ferguson, as well as Thomas. Hackett called a good game against the Chargers, hopefully he keeps being the opposite of conservative this time around once again. -
Gah, like 2 people out of 1,000,000 picked the Jets to win. For the first time this season, the Jets played with a pass first offense, and it proved to win the game at the end. No more 3rd down and 8 HB Draws, no more running on the first two downs, just let Pennington do his thing, and mix a little Martin/Jordan. 70% of the people thought the Jets would get killed last night, 15% thought they weren't going to get killed but lose, but they still pulled out the upset. The Steelers are going to face a team that played them tough before opening up their offense, a team that lost to them so the revenge factor will be in play, they have a streak to maintain, and they are the heavy favorites. No pressure on the Jets, they just have to keep throwing the ball and surprise people next week. Also, Barton, had a great year, but that was the stupidest fucking move in the history of western civilization. Luckily we managed to pull it out anyway.

After all of this, we've found out that Cena's real problem is calling people gay. 1) Stop calling people gay 2) All promos shouldn't rhyme 3) Try in your wrestling matches (But think about it, other than the Booker series' that's been horrible, who has he faced that's remotely decent in the ring, plus, 90% matches have been squashes anyway) 4)Money feud. Whoever is going to be that guy, remains to be seen.

Past 2 years, the average OPB between them has been similar (Jeter .393, and .352, Beltran .389, and .362) Jeter's still had more doubles, more hits (and Jeter only played 119 games 2 years ago), and that's about it. Jeter's had higher OBP's throughout his career, and is a better hitter. Beltran has him with the slugging though.

He had the Killswitch. I don't know why he doesn't use it more often. It's almost like a blue thunder/bossman slam, starts off as a backbody drop, and ends up as some type of slam. It wasn't bad, but now he only uses it once every 4 months, and does it very slowly. As for the money feud, I thought they had it with Eddie Guerrero (when he attacked Eddie in his hometown), but it ended way to quickly. It was back then when he was a heel.

But how can you compare them to Austin and Hogan, when both Austin and Hogan had polar opposite gimmicks? This is a new era, and things have changed since then. You can't make him into a Hogan type of guy. Had Austin used Hogan's gimmick in the late 90's, he would have been eaten alive. And people weren't ready for Austin's gimmick back in Hogan's era. We're in an era where rap is very high mainstream, and throwbacks are the thing. Tons of kids in this day would relate to Cena, like kids who would relate to Hogan back in the 80's.

Jeter has a higher career OPB (throught Jeter's career, OPB's have been 10 points lower than throughout Beltran's), higher OPS (even though throughout Beltran's career, OPS' have been 30 some points higher), Jeter has averaged more hits a year, more runs, and more doubles. I think Jeter is the better player.

...okay well I was replying to Cena's gimmick being what was going to hold him down from becoming a main eventer, and compared him to JBL because he has a gimmick that really isn't a main eventer's gimmick either, yet is main eventing matches as we speak today. That's considered too much favoritism?

1) Cena's still arguably the 3rd most over wrestler in the company (behind The Rock, and The Undertaker) 2) Neither is JBL's. I'd rather see Cena with the strap, as a heel though, and see what he can do. 3) He has when he's been motivated to do so. The last feud he had that had some steam was the short, very short feud with Eddie Guerrero. They produced a decent match in ring, and a nice spot match in the latino parking lot brawl. Ever since the WWE stopped capitalizing on him, he's become stale, and doesn't seem to want to improve. Stick him with the right opponents, and he will put on a good match. Most of his matches today are against jobbers. All he does is have 2:00 minute squash matches nowadays. It's not going to happen when you put him up against Eddie, Kurt, and even Taker (he's had 2 good matches with him). I myself would like to see him on RAW to work with the Benoit's, HBK's, and HHH's of the world. He's not going to improve wrestling JBL and Carlito Cool. 4)Orton and Batista have had the luxury to work with HBK, Benoit, and HHH. They've also hung around with main eventers for a while. Cena's still facing Carlito for some odd reason. He hasn't faced a main eventer since Kurt Angle. He's still the future of the WWE in my eyes, but so far they've blown it, and seem to be milking him instead of elevating him.

Barry Larkin should take a look at the Yankees for a utility job. He says he wouldn't mind being a utility man for a winning team. We need all the depth we can get. Ruben is about to be signed for one more year.
-
So are the Yankees officially out of the Beltran mix? Well it just end like this? They still need to address center field.

First Benson, now this. The Mets are idiots.

The only way the Jets win is if they, you know, try to pass the ball further than 5 yards from scrimmage. Curtis Martin will carry the load, so it's all on Pennington to make some good decisions. The Chargers are not the type of team Pennington sucks ass against, but they are hot. Like the Jets though, they didn't beat any teams that the Jets wouldn't beat. The Jets did beat them in Week 2 however, and I know things change, but the Jet defense wasn't as good then (not counting yesterday's 4 play 5,000 yard game against the Rams, the Jet defense has been pretty good, and didn't turn up till probably Week 3 or 4). I think it will be a close game. They held Tomlinson in check the last time around, and with Abraham returning, Brees will have to scramble a bit with Ellis on the other side. Vilma is playing great, but the secondary will have to step it up. I'm not making a prediction, but Pennington needs to have a good game, and needs to be allowed to create.

He should go with 52.

Easy. Taker (walking backstage): Hey Kane! Kane: GRRR! Taker: Listen up man, look the other day I'm kicking down on the dead side ya know? Kane: grunt Taker: and this little bouncing baby c0mes my way, a ugly freaking baby. Kane: mmm... Taker: and well the little shit starting talking to me. I thought I had one to many but sure enough I find out it's YOUR dead son. Apprently while I was busy with this freak Heidenreich dude, you raped some chick and this snitsky fellow caused her to miscarry? Busy man aren't cha. Heard you kicked his ass a couple weeks ago Kane: HA HA HA! Taker: unfortantly, you didn't finish the job. Like always. Kane: I killed you didn't I? Taker: I'm still here aren't I? Kane: right... Taker: Look so anyways, your son tells me that all he wants to see is his daddy and uncle Taker beat the hell out of the two of them...So what you say brother? Up for another ride? Kane: Sure thang baby. Anything for my dead son. That was good.

That would be a great signing. If his knees still work, of course.

Heidenreich can't handle the Underfart.

Not main eventers in a big match where the person ALWAYS loses... They have a strong roster now. This isn't 1996-98 when the roster sucked and barely had enough people for a battle royale. Good news then.

He's jobbing? You're still allowed in the Rumble after having a match, aren't you?
