    Why ESPN sucks

But where else will you watch "Kids on Deck"? That's what it's all about.

If the US wins the gold, it'll be a miracle.

That was actually kind of funny.

False. Unlike with Lesnar, he's in the deadman gimmick now.

    Moneyball

Exactly. If they did things like that more often, they'd probably have a ring right now.

    Moneyball

Read the article, great article, I think I get it. But this still doesn't explain why a team like the A's would lose in the postseason. And IMO a player who doesn't decline in the postseason is a clutch hitter. Jeter is an example of this. There's always a player who bats .250 and hits .250 in the postseason, so there's always exceptions to that rule just like there is to the studies of Moneyball. The Marlins won a World Series, partially because of their speed. The threat of Pierre and Castillo stealing bases takes away an advantage for the pitcher on the batter. If you have a player who stole 60 bases on first, the pitcher will be distracted, allowing the hitter to get the advantage. So when you play in the playoffs, those stats that have been posted during the season can affect opposing players tremendously, even if you don't attempt to steal a base in the postseason. That's why stealing bases can be used effectively. The same thing can be said about bunts. If you are a player who sacrafices a ton during the season, the player at the corners would be charging in, giving you an advantage if you decide not to bunt. Statistics that are posted during the season will affect the opposing team's judgment, that's why the A's never win in the postseason. They never try anything out of the ordinary, or take a chance.

Rebuttal: Sometimes the better match isn't always the right decision. The company needs to build for the future. Randy Orton is RAW. Cena needs to be Smackdown!

    Make a statement

True. If Jericho wins the title, there would have been new main eventers built. If new main eventers were built, right now Smackdown! wouldn't be in such horrible shape. The stupid treatment of Jericho as unified champ leading up to jobbing the title to HHH at WM18 was far worse for the WWE than the Trips/Jericho match in April 2000. Yes it was far worse, but if Jericho did win the title during the phanton title switch, and had he stayed champ for a good five months, new faces would have shown up at the Main Event scene and the WrestleMania X8 disaster probably would not have happened. The real question is, would Jericho have been a transitional champ or a long term champ. If he was a long term champ had the switch not happened, than I think Smackdown! wouldn't be so bad right now.

True. Just like everyone else, most of his great matches have been with the likes of Eddie Guerrero and Kurt Angle. He's also had very good matches with Randy Orton and has had classic tag matches in the past.

    ESPN NFL 2K5 Thread

You can't go wrong with the Jets. I'm in the year 2012 and finished the year 12-4 with them, playing the Chiefs in the divisional playoffs. Moss/Vilma turn out to be great players. Pennington is steady throughout his career at around 87-89.

is Peyton Manning their QB? Because in Franchise, when I play the Bills, and he's their QB, they do a hurry up offense often.

Would the Detroit Pistons be considered a "Moneyball" type of team?

    Future plans

They need to build up Cena, and have him win the Royal Rumble, facing Angle, Eddie, or Taker at WrestleMania. WrestleMania should establish a new main eventer. Angle vs. Taker should be a main event for another PPV.

    Franchise Mode

What I usually do is get rid of deadweight and clear cap room to sign that big free agent. But there are times where I stockpile future prospects (World Series Baseball) and trade them for superstars. I once had a lineup of Jeter, Rodriguez, Bonds, Pujols, Helton and Magglio Ordonez for the heck of it. It's not as easy as it seems because all of those players were franchise players for their teams, and have high loyalty ratings. So what you would do is get a bunch of all stars who make little money, package them with prospects and trade them for these superstars. Luckily I had a decent pitching staff but my bench was abysmal. In basketball I clear a certain amout of cap room to sign big free agents or players who are on the verge of becoming superstars. If I have two players at a position who are about the same rating, I trade the older one for a pick and clear some room. If I am under the players needed I trade 'em for a less paid player. In football I do the same thing. I keep the young players and cut/or let the older guys contract expire. I keep doing this in 2K5, have only one one superbowl so far in like 8 years with the Jets. In Madden 2004 it worked well as I won 4 super bowls in a row with the Panthers. All in all my strategy is not to totally rebuild, unless i'm bored. My strategy is to keep the young guys while clearing room to sign a big time player or a player on the verge of becoming big. I also like to trade the big money guys for picks whether it be a late draft pick or an early one just to get some room. I like to stay competitive year in, year out, although sometimes it just doesn't work.

    Olympic Chatter

Probably not but there were like 10 hall of famers there. But the games might have been a bit closer than 40 point blowouts.

    Olympic Chatter

To be fair, teams have improved dramatically since 1992 where they were unbeatble. Lithuania is easily one of the top 3 teams right now in the Olympics. And I disagree, if they win the Gold it's all good. You gotta understand that in Europe there are more and more leagues, and some of the players are just as good as NBA players who just wish to stay in Europe.

    Olympic Chatter

Well, I don't know about you guys, but the more games USA plays, the more and more I root for them. I hope they win the Gold, they are showing a shitload of effort in each game. But they have to step up on the pick and rolls, Jasikevicius killed them. LeBron James has to play more, Larry Brown is screwing that up.

    Future plans

Triple H wants new meat, eh? Eh, he hasn't been THAT bad lately. And I retract that statement, Smackdown! wouldn't feel the same without Eddie. If that trade happened, that means RAW would have no ramp which would make it look weird.
  22. Brett Favre

    Future plans

Angle is probably going to get injured anyway, and an Eddie Guerrero for Chris Jericho trade should happen.

LeBron is so fast and so big. He's like a taller Ray Lewis playing basketball.

    Promotion Wars 1.3 Released

It's worse than EWR. The winners are random, well in the first version they were, and its like, crappy. It looks crappy, but it's not half bad. The summeries aren't better and you have to keep pressing the spacebar to continue reading the match. It's nowhere nears close to the depth of EWR, but it's not horrible.
