Heres my two cents on this: Is Shaq a pain in the ass to deal with? Yes. Are the Lakers better off without Shaq than with him? Hell No. The bottom line is while O'Neal has his idiosyncracies he cares about winning. Kobe does not he cares about being the man, that is all. It doesnt matter whether Shaq's weight would get out of control sometimes cause he was always there when the Lakers needed him in big games. You cant say that for Kobe. Ask Phil Jackson himself (although if he comes back to LA he's the biggest hypocrite ever), Shaq, pain in the ass but a joy to work with. Kobe, malcontent, and a detriment to the team. Finally just look where LA is now and where the Heat are thats all you need to know.

As someone who lives in the state I'm tellin you its the players. It will probably take another good recruiting class and Roberson making a decision to jump to the pros (although he may not get drafted Anthony isnt exactly known for his brain) to flush out the fat. However any coach who goes tthe sweet 16 one year and the final 4 the next is a damn good basketball coach and doesnt become dumb overnight. He got too greedy though and its cost Donovan the last few years.

Heres the thing, I expected the Gators to choke in recent years, cause they werent a team built for March. Billy self-admittedly recruited too many athletes and not enough basketball players. He went back to recruiting players this year and that combined with a new defensive scheme carried them especially towards the end of the year. If you saw these guys completely destroy Kentucky in the SEC Title game you wouldnt be so dissmissive. Its incredible how one bad 8 minute stretch against a mid-major completely psychologically killed this team. They were so much better than this.
