Didn't Skip Bayless start false rumors about Troy Aikman being gay?
-
Laughable. Completely Laughable. Its hilarious to hear Red Sox fans say that Buck and McCarver say that they are pro-Yankee and Yankee fans say that they are anti-Yankee. Thats when you know they're doing their job. While McCarver does have a tendency to overanalyze and the quality of his work has gone down in recent years he is still good. On Saturday both he and Buck (who rarely if ever has an off game) were ON.

Dude, I was nauseated once I heard about that trade on the radio, here we are finally getting a No.1 Defenseman and we trade him for a prospect. I didn't care how good or bad he (the prospect) was it was a horrible mistake. As far as my blunders well, I was excited when the D-Rays picked up Ben Grieve... oh well.

I believe they mentioned Mortal Kombat but not Street Fighter. I may be wrong on that.

I thought 90 and 91 suffered from too much Michael Ian Black who was funnier in smaller doses in the previous decade shows. Last night shows were better, and Ice T-s comments on Arrested Development absolutely floored me. However, how can you mention 1993 without Beavis and Butthead? I can buy Right Said Fred and Ren and Stimpy being in the 1992 show when both debuted in 1991, but Beavis and Butthead belongs in 1993.

yes they are, if you want to check it out this week they're re-running the surprisingly good Jessica Simpson/Nick Lachey show with G-Unit as the Musical Guest.

WOW! Lots to comment on here. I'm sure what Barron means by improv is deviating from the script not interpreting it. As far as Weekend Update goes the bit was actually created by Lorne Michaels himself as he used it for his Canadian sketch show (the name of it escapes me) prior to SNL and was going to be the anchor in 1975 before giving the spot to Chevy. While I don't deny that Chase was the first breakout star of SNL, he is not an icon of the show since he only stayed for a year and a half. (by the way my six icons of SNL are Belushi, Aykroyd, Murphy, Carvey, Hartman, Ferrell) As far as I'm concerned the current state of the show is pretty good. Whether you like Tina Fey or not you cant deny the shows success since 1999 and they've handled the Will Ferrell departure much better than I thought they would. (although as Barron points out he didn't too much in his last year but he had to be there cause of W.) Theres only a couple of weak links on the cast (Maya, and perhaps Finesse Mitchell although I'm not ready to give up on him yet) and with Seth Meyers, Will Forte and Fred Armisen about to be handed the ball next season, the state of the show is very healthy.

Points taken but I think he still deserved another season. Plus, havent Quenneville's Blues teams been criticized for that exact same reason.
-
My question is, what did Granato do wrong last season? He seemed to get the most out of that team considering all the injuries they had. Maybe some Avs fans can correct me on this.
-
That makes me feel...... Beauuuutiful.

Very interesting you bring that up. One of the things that has been done on sports talk radio down here over the years is a consistent campaign for transplants to drop alleigances to their old teams in order to root for the local teams and believe it or not its been more successful than you would think (even in the crap years for the Bucs and Lightning who again have always had a bigger fanbase than some give them credit for around here). My opinion on this is gonna ruffle some feathers around here, personally if you move from say Boston or New York to Tampa or Phoenix and you plan to stay there for an exteneded period of time you should become a fan of your new hometown. You will always have your memories from your previous hometown, but if you chose to live down south or out west whats the point of rooting for the Bruins.

Make-up vote or not Luongo deserved the Vezina. He single handedly kept the Panthers on the fringes of the playoff race when they had no right to be there. (Much like Khabs did for the Bolts in 01-02) I wouldnt have voted for Kiprusoff only because he didn't play in enough regular season games.
-
SHIT, I will work on re-sizing that pic.
-
see my sig... yes it topped The Bucs winning the SB. They were good for a long time and I didn't see all of their bad years. As I stated in the Cup thread I've seen ALL of the Lightning's shit.
-
WOW! Just WOW! I can't believe the Lightning are Stanley Cup Champions. As a person that started following the team in 1995 this is extra special cause I have seen the 50 loss seasons, Art Williams, the 9 goal period against Washington, Steve Ludzik's stupid forechecking scheme and all the other crap that the team has been through. First off, I want to thank Phil Esposito without whom this couldn't be possible, he brought the team here and served as GM for 6 years with mostly one arm tied behind his back. Secondly, I want to thank Bill Davidson and his group, yes they may seem a little distant but they came in and gave the Bolts the stability they have always needed. Thirdly, I want to thank Stephane Richer, Alexander Daigle, Cory Cross, Mike McBain, Andrei Zyuzin, Jason Bonsignore among many others that passed through here because they make this victory that much sweeter. I want to thank Torts for teaching these guys how to win and Jay Feaster for stabilizing the organization when Rick Dudley wanted to make a trade every week. It was so amazing to see Andreychuk skate around with the cup and know Jassen Cullimore who's been here since January 1998 won the cup the Bolts. It's been a hell of a ride and I hope we can continue it next year.

Will, should we explain again to redbaron the fanbase that has always been around in Tampa or is it worth our time?
-
Oh. My.God. We are 20 minutes away.

I'm not getting excited about anything yet, however Khabby has looked sharp with his limited work and Kiprusoff on the other hand has looked shaky.
-
Nl5 as much as I hate to do it I have to agree on the Gelinas play, the thing is the puck went in and out so fast that I dont think the refs caught it. With that said, Calgary had plenty of oppurtunities to win the game in OT so that shouldnt be used as an excuse. As far as the Conn Smythe goes its Brad Richards no question for the Bolts if the Flames win I gotta give it to Iginla.

Great post Will, I'll also add that the team averaged 13-14,000 a game at the Forum during the lean years (save for 98-99) which is pretty damn good for as horrible as the team was.
-
Two words: HELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL YEAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was at my friends watching this and the game was simply incredible. Brad Richards comes through again and Khabby makes the save of the year in OT. Also major kudos to Dan Boyle, Pavel Kubina and Daryl Sydor, all of whom played incredible games. If I have the time on Monday I will definitely make the effort to go to the Forum Plaza.
-
He gets THAT pumped when the other team scores?? DAMN!
-
Amen to that Max. Folks, you've havent heard a bad announce team till you've heard Potvin and Rimer. By the way Max, have you ever watched Rick Peckham and Bobby Taylor call games on Sunshine and if so what do you think of them? (Thats where "The Chief" is for you older Flyer fans)

The Tampa Bay Storm (Arena Football) are more popular than the Devil Rays down here.
