* and beyond that. Meltzer was essentially putting over both men's abilities as workers, in that neither man really did a whole lot of wrestling in their respective matches but managed to work the life into that crowd. which is the ability being credited to them. and rightfully so.

Well, Grenier started that with his INXS comment. INXS hasn't even posted in this topic. Grenier made it a Republicans vs. Democrats/Independents thing. * if you're going to insult everyone's intelligence in this thread... i'd recommend you do your best to not sound like an idiot. as someone who always has, and will continue to, vote for a third party... i whole-heartedly resent the implication that i'm somehow on your side. because if i were... i'd vote for your guy. that is all.

Indy wrestlers you just don't like
thecitythesky replied to Youth N Asia's topic in General Wrestling
* i know that Punk has changed since then. for the worse from what i've seen. however... the match with Daniels is the best non-Hero match that i've ever seen him in since i first saw him in MAW. ... and the reasoning for my bringing up the 2002 TPI was for the above reason... as well as for pinpointing the begining of my dislike for Jimmy Rave which just happened to also occur on the same weekend. which... is also the best weekend of wrestling i've ever been able to see live. -

Indy wrestlers you just don't like

* i can pinpoint the exact moment my Jimmy Rave hate began. it was sitting in the crowd for the second night of the TPI in 2002 and Hero came out fro his match with Rave still selling the damage done to his leg on the previous night by Matt Stryker. and Rave proceeds to go off on Hero's arm.... i understand that's his thing and all. but it just really betrays what a one-dimensional wrestler he really is. ... also.. i've never really gotten the Homicide love. i've never seen him effectively tell a story. or really do any long-term, quality selling. and his tendency to injure people... i mean, he certainly seems to be a draw. so in that respect he's good for business... but i just don't fancy him as a wrestler. -
* i don't know if you'll be able to find it anywhere online. but their performance at the Heatwave Festival in 1980 is excellent. i found one person with it on Soulseek. it's not the best quality... but you know... it's a bootleg. and it was 1980. . it is a little Remain in Light heavy . but considering that it was their new record. ... here's the setlist if you want to look for it... psycho killer warning sign stay hungry cities i zimbra once in a lifetime house in motion born under punches crosseyed and painless.

* i'm not sure of the exact number. but if you compare attendance figures from the RoH show w/ Hardy to their next showing in the venue... it was down by nearly 400 people. ... so to a certain extent, he was/is a draw. however, they'll need to produce quality shows as a whole to keep the viewers, as i can't imagine many people sticking around and paying $10 a week just to see a Jeff Hardy match. also note... the match he had was, by my account, absolutely terrible. i downloaded it and couldn't wait for it to be over so i could delete it. and yes, the crowd, by and large, booed(?) him out of the building... i was a little bothered by their desire to shit all over the guy before the match even started. but then Jeff managed to validate it.

in case you were curious: ver·ba·tim adj. Using exactly the same words; corresponding word for word: a verbatim report of the conversation. adv. In exactly the same words; word for word: repeated their dialogue verbatim. ... maybe you should have read the thread i quoted. if whomever posted it from or on its source page cut something... not my problem. of course, had you read that thread (or any others) to begin with... this one wouldn't be here. ... i mean, i'm all for the posting of accurate information. i just don't care for the RE-posting of said information.

* well... that was taken verbatim from the other "News and Notes" thread with information from PWInsider and 411. so is this. and the Matt Hardy injury was briefly mentioned in this weeks Observer. which has been up since the weekend. ..... otherwise. the Paul Bearer stuff has its own thread already... and has for quite some time. as does the SD! house show report and Vince being sick. and the RF/RoH split information along with the TNA action figures piece both have their own respective discussions and their repspective folders. admittedly, i will give you that Traci Brooks being Wrestling365's diva of the day... that's all you. granted, try as i might, i just don't care. decent?

Proof that talent counts for nothing this company
thecitythesky replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
the problem with this is that Spanky had a ready made shot in Japan. Which is more than likely where he would be making most of his money. That and the people love him over there. And in Japan, he also wouldn't have to absorb incidental expenses. London doesn't have that waiting for him the instant he would walk out. He'd be in the US indies where, outside of RoH, he wasn't really that big of a deal. He could've had a huge shot after winning the Super 8. Although, he was already working for Vince at that point. Admittedly, if he were to leave, he could probably slide over to TNA. But really, that's not going to be a whole lot of money in the bank either. And the reason that Raven can make more money working in the indies is that his trans and lodging gets paid. London, like most indy guys, wouldn't get that from every promoter. He'd be paying his own gas and hotel (if necessary). So the Raven thing isn't really the same. Raven also makes a shit-ton more per booking that London probably ever will on the indies. No. No they don't. That's what makes them indy feds. -
* yeah. smart mark video's shipping time is absolutely ridiculous. .. i've order 6-8 tapes from them on numerous occasions and gotten them in about a week. maybe 10 days. compared to RF's... "we'll get around to it" attitude...
-
* what i'm really wondering is (provided this is true.). what about all those, like Samoa Joe/Maff/etc. that said that if they ever found out that RF was still a part of RoH they would turn their backs and walk.?

* from my understanding. and in my opinion... Kane isn't a legitimate #1 contender because he's been made to look like an absolute fucking joke over the last 6 months. - he got destroyed by the Undertaker at WMXX in a match that could've given him tremedous momentum had he won. - he lost to Edge. in a match that victory that did nothing for Edge and a loss that further derailed Kane. (which would now put him roughly 448 miles from the tracks). ... the fact of the matter is that Kane isn't a "legitimate" contender in the sense that he is not a believible #1 contender. much in the same fashion (although not as extreme) that if Steven Richards or Hurricane would've won that battle royal (even sans HBK interference) they also wouldn't be legitimate contenders for a PPV title match. i'd've had no problems with Kane winning the spot if the match would've been for the following week's RAW, but for a PPV main. not in a million years.

TNA Letting Fans Choose Who AMW Face On Wednesday
thecitythesky replied to BoboBrazil's topic in TNA Wrestling
* not to get to much into fantasy booking the tournament... but if you look at the scheduled match-ups, and the way the blocking and points are set up as of today. Daniels' "injury" doesn't necessarily have any impact on what would've been a sensible way for New Japan to book the tournament (regarding winners, finalists, and whatnot). ... although, that may also be a coincidence. but the way they would've been "forced" into booking the remainder of the tournament hasn't been any diffferent than the way the tournament was being booked from the get-go. however, if this is legit. then that's super shitty. considering Daniels' infamous Nitro shoulder injury. -
CM Punk speaks about his future in NWA-TNA
thecitythesky replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in TNA Wrestling
* but that's not necessarily what happened. i haven't read the documents... and to my knowledge, neither has anybody else. like i said above... what can be extrapolated from the information that was given through various reliable enough sources with respect to the actual provisions of the contracts seems to be as i previously stated. that when the talent signed the contracts... there were stipulations as to TNA's reserved right to approve all outside bookings; that the talent was free to book themselves elsewhere, but, should they (TNA) so desire, they (TNA) could/would have the final say. EXAMPLE: if TNA decides, at some point, to start running house shows and touring (which would have to be some sort of goal at some point), and they hadn't reserved the rights to their talents with respect to outside bookings, they'd be fucked. they'd have to get the talent to sign new contracts, and run the risk of losing talent for their weekend shows but still have them as contracted performers for Wednesdays. like i said, the fact that TNA didn't do this previously is immaterial. the rules weren't "changed" as much as the policy wasn't enforced... as their was no need to. however, in gearing up for TV - this is how they wanted to do things with THEIR talent and the contracts reserved their right to do so. ... and "death-to-freedom-of-choice crap"... welll... that would've have been the moment they became CONTRACTED performers who guarenteed their service to an organization and consented to all the provisions of a legally binding document. ......... until concrete evidence is presented otherwise... one would have the function on the assumption that TNA is acting within the framework of the currently standing contracts. otherwise, the cheapest lawyer in the country could void that agreement. if you've read the contracts... show me. i'll take it all back. otherwise, i can't see how any information/reasoning could lead a person to the above lines of thinking.
