actually... he used David Bowie's ch-ch-ch-changes stutter.

* it's been said before... but bare in mind that Flair is from a time and place where doing anything to "smarten" up anyone who wasn't in the business was cause to get your arms and legs broken twice over (see Heenen's book) ... so i don't think he comes across as bitter, more sad/disappointed. i mean, Blassie got mobbed and stabbed for christ's sake. in Mexico (where by and large they still "believe") Jeff-fucking-Jarrett caused a riot... and he barely gets any kind of reaction in the states. realitically, from a performer and fan's standpoint, it was more fun before the secrets were out. go to a show and sit by a group of kids... or watch a PPV at your local Hooter's or BW3's packed w/ full on blind marks, and there's still that magic there. and as much as i know that will never again be the case for folks like those around here, i'll admit that i do kind of miss it; as even the bad stuff could be entertaining or something that i could get into. (sidenote, last June's Bad Blood (which was horrid) was a PPV i actually enjoyed by virtue of sitting in a bar full of people who didn't care/know about anything but what they were shown on TV and admitedly it rubbed off a little bit, and somehow i had a good time watching it.) and Flair's not blaming the fans on the Internet for exposing the business. he's blaming the business for exposing itself. because, really, if everyone had always kept their mouths shut like they were supposed to - we wouldn't know much of anything. and as much as i frequent a wide variety of wrestling sites, i do agree w/ Flair on this. but if you go through it again, he clearly is blaming a handful of people on the inside for opening the flood gates and continuing to fan the flames. *

Triple H: False. Younger Superstars should be earning more TV time. Nothing should be given to anyone. for the record... he did say that nothing should be given to anyone... not that it never was. *and also.. i do agree. that HHH did work his way up the card, and in '99 had all the tools to carry his heat to the top of the card. and as for people like Matt Hardy and the like that most definately deserve the pushes and TV time that they're not getting, unfortunately.. sometimes that's the nature of the beast. and as much as they may deserve it time and place carries a lot of weight. (and it's completely ridiculous to claim that match quality has anything to do w/ pushes and who makes it on TV. otherwise Hogan would've been curtain jerking all through the 80's while Dibiase, Savage, and Roberts were feuding over the title.)

christ people... and here i thought i was in the smartmarks TNA folder. but somehow i've ended up in 5th period study hall. . so fuck it... who are you guys taking to prom*? *(or... we could talk about wrestling and not argue about how we talk about wrestling. just keep me abreast of the situation.)

the way it works is counterbalancing sample size w/ a marked increase in accuracy. For Example: Gallup (the company who administers most telephone surveys for many major newspapers/media outlets generally uses a sample size (independent of the universe its operating in of about 1500) from there they can extrapolate data w/ a +/- 3% margin of error. Now, after that any increase in sample size is not going to give you a very noticable change in your margin of error, therefore to do so would be sort of a silly waste of resources and time. Neilsen operates in the same fashion. If they were to use 2 or 3 times the households, the end result wouldn't noticably change - and certainly not enough to expose any flaws in their previous methodology. ................. so, while you guys only have 1/10 the people. if we were to use 10 times the sample group our results would be pretty much just as one the ball as if we used the 2.5 times that we do right now. (as for it not being difficult for TNA to get the .2 that was discussed earlier. considering that an established brand (WWE) with established talent often featured on the show (Velocity) regularily draws a .8 in a weekend night spot (which, using the math from before would be 40 out of the 5000). i can see why it would be difficult for many people to see it... especially due to the questioning earlier of whether or not major markets that don't get FSN would have their FSN pseudo-affiliates carrying the TNA show at all...) * OH! and would be ultra hesitant to put the show on at 9pm/10pm on sunday nights (assuming that you are speaking in Eastern time) since once a month there's going to be a much larger company putting on a much larger show. (although, i think that putting it on at 11pm Eastern would be a fabulous idea. as it won't be completing w/ the pay-per-views and it would be possible to simply flip over once said PPV is done. (like what MLW did w/ their Sunshine timeslot)... and if sports bars would turn it on post PPV to placate the audience that's already there. everybody wins: the fans get a reason to stay at the bar, and maybe see something that catches their attention; and the bar makes money from having the folks stay longer... w/ no real increase in overhead (since they've got the sports channels anyway.)

* Dace... if you're refering to Metal Maniac's question about the Shellshock, you couldn't be more off base. there is no headlock, inverted or otherwise in the move. essentially it's just a modified reverse STO/Flatliner. Shelley gets his opponent in position for a Flatliner (albeit w/ his left arm instead of right (as most people do)) so now they are chest to chest. he then bends his opponent over backwards over his knee (at this point i can see you thinking that he has them in an inverted headlock... but he doesn't.) he then takes a back bump... whipping his opponent around in a sort of higher impact Flatliner. (if you watch the video Metal Maniac referenced at click wrestle... there's a really good shot of him doing the whole move at about 5:15) *

that would be Alex Shelley's Shellshock... done there to Jimmy Jacobs at during the third of their 3 matches that night (last man standing stips) for IWA-MS on 12.19.03.. a show you should buy, for those as well as a decent B-Boy/Rotten match and an excellent Hero/Styles match. EDIT: actually... all three times the move is in that video it's being done to Jimmy Jacobs... although i can't tell when the other two happened. (actually... one of them was at an IWA show in highland (judging by the basketball hoop) and they've only had one match there (i want to say October... unless it was from the four way in November (maybe?))... either way, SMV has both)

Gabe Sapolsky Heading To Nashville To Meet With TN
thecitythesky replied to BoboBrazil's topic in TNA Wrestling
* now.. i'd be the last person to defend what RF did. and he certainly is a pedophile (based on what actually transpired)... however, there are numerous, numerous people all throughout the internet who constantly refer to him as a child molester and kiddie fucker. . and this is really wholly inaccurate (at least given the facts at hand)... after all, you wouldn't say an someone caught in an attempted murder killed somebody... in this respect, i do understand what those "sheep" are talking about. * -

* here's the problem w/ notarized documents: (from Southern California Mobile Notary) No. Notaries are not responsible for the accuracy or legality of documents they notarize Notaries certify the identity of signers. The signers are responsible for the content of the documents. so really... ROH or RF getting any of these documents notarized really proves nothing. and doesn't make the documents any more or less binding that the action they've already taken to satisfy their PA law. (by the by... the "proof" that we're talking about. is it just that one thing that i remember seeing that looked like it was written on an etch-a-sketch. or has something more definitive been presented? spring break pushed me out of the loop a bit...) * -
* as for the Eddy having no kids thing... i highly suggest you read the Eddy shoot currently posted on the main page. *

Most jobs to the same guy without a win

HHH and Undertaker Kawada and Misawa -
* one of my recent personal favorites was HHH during his "feud" w/ Goldberg... when the mic went out on Raw and he followed it up w/ something to the effect of: "i didn't know Goldberg made microphones, these things don't work either." ... it may not be verbatim, but it was super noticable; to the point that i was shocked he actually said it. *
-
* actually, i believe that the standing version is a modified Skayde special #2. i thought that i heard Prazak call it that during one of his matches w/ either danny or b-boy in highland... also, i believe the Death is Welcome is generally done w/ him sitting on the top turnbuckle... but i could be wrong about that. i'll have to re-watch some things. *
-
* this may be the version you're talking about: Hero has a version of the hangman's clutch where instead of the STF style lock of the legs he traps the arm like the Crippler Crossface. he still applies it w/ the cravate though. thecitythesky... is falling

NWA Wildside finishing/signature move list
thecitythesky replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in General Wrestling
mostly because the "Tiger Driver" is a gimmick name, and not a description of the move itself nor the move its derived from. the above statement about the non-interchangablility of terms has more to do with the explanation of the move and not with naming it... if someone did a piledriver, you couldn't say they did a powerbomb and expect someone to understand you. case and point: the Pheonix Fury Legdrop is most certainly not a legdrop... it's simply the gimmick name of the move. -
Teddy Hart vs. Homicide video clips
thecitythesky replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in General Wrestling
didn't you see? Teddy did some flippy moves... and Homicide bashed him with plunder. oh, and Homicide hit him hard and gave him a piledriver on the stairs. ... it's really a brilliant story. -
everything i've heard about the Live from the 504 makes it sound like a Wrist Clutch Exploder... is this true?

as for Toryumon to check out... i admittedly haven't seen the promotion in quite a while. as American indies have been taking up a lot of my time and money as of late... however, if you've never seen any Toryumon i recommend you start with picking up the 3rd and 4th anniversary shows (07.01.01 and 07.15.02 respectively) and the Toryumon vs. T2P show from 09.08.02... all 3 are fantastic (although Dragon's tendency for Vince-esque overbooking gets a little tiresome, the matches that are allowed to be good are great)... and you get the a good introduction to a lot of cats who are really important now. and you get Ultimo Dragon's return and the Dragon Kid/Darkness Dragon 2/3 falls mask v. mask match.

excellent. as always... and if you think Schlitz is cheap everywhere else. imagine how cheap it is in the city it made famous. they might as well pump though my faucet. And what a lame ass pre-emption... if only you could've had the Red Sox to pre-empt RAW. ps... if a ten ton truck....

Teddy Hart vs. Homicide video clips
thecitythesky replied to LucharesuFan619's topic in General Wrestling
it was a little disconcerting to watch Homicide pretty much no sell his own suicide dive. and it was amusing to hear Teddy begging Homicide not to fuck with his "blown" knee on the step, as he'd "end his career." ... although Homicide may not be one of my favorite wrestlers in the world, he certainly is one of the last people is would call a "pussy" on a live mic. -
these are both for LucharesuFan619. Rollin' Hard's Nigga Knocka is a poorly executed DVD. (although i think the "poorly executed part was implied by "Rollin' Hard") and Colt Cabana's Canadian Baconleaf is (unless it's change in the last time i saw him use it, which was admittedly quite a while ago) is hard to explain. Imagine if he had you in a Texas Cloverleaf only instead of being "behind" his opponent sitting over his back and pulling up and back he was "in front" of his opponent and pushing forward and down. In the end the top of your opponent's thigh is against his shoulder/chest area. I'll try to find a photo. EDIT: as for the Assault Driver/Rat Trap thing... i may be wrong, so don't hold me to this as i've only seen each move a couple of times and have since systematically worked to destroy my brain, but whereas the Assualt Driver is usually done out of the corner... the Rat Trap has the opponent sitting on JC's shoulders... although the moves are so incredibly similar that you may as well call them the same thing.

okay... let's all name one thing that will get you a lengthy tag title reign, in spite of an initial lack of skill. A: having half of your team related to Danny Davis. i'm surprised no one mentioned this yet; after all the shit that gets flung Orton, HHH, Michael Shane, (once upon a time) The Rock, et cetera's way. although, in all honesty. i've really warmed up to the Bashams as of late. their heel work amuses me, and besides... who's going to take the titles from them anyway.? personally i'd vote for London/someone more talented/charimatic than Billy Kidman (although i've often said that if they gave Kidman the "i'm the guy that's really fucking Torrie Wilson" gimmick, he'd be over like gangbusters...). then put them in a fued w/ TWGTT... since i'd really like to see Haas in the ring w/ London.

don't talk so foolish... from the mouth and pen of Ian MacKaye "Out of Step (with the world) (I) Don't smoke Don't drink Don't fuck At least I can fucking think" sex is not fine... although, yes it is traditionally defined w/in the sXe community as no promiscuous sex but really "pro·mis·cu·ous ( P ) Pronunciation Key (pr-msky-s) adj. 1. Having casual sexual relations frequently with different partners; indiscriminate in the choice of sexual partners. 2. Lacking standards of selection; indiscriminate. 3. Casual; random. 4. Consisting of diverse, unrelated parts or individuals; confused: “Throngs promiscuous strew the level green” (Alexander Pope)." much of that is quite gray... as such as indiscriminate... and lacking of standards. i'm sure that even if we consider Punk to be an absolute whore, he still probably only sleeps w/ women he finds attractive... or meeting his standards. anyway... the real point i'm trying to make is that a) sex is not "okay" or "fine" w/ respect to sXe. although results may vary. b) promiscuity is entirely too vague of a concept. and c) fugazi is a may better band than minor threat ever was.

Shelley/Hero has already happened. 07.04.03 in IWA-MS. The match is supposed to be fantastic, i've got it coming on DVD in the next week, and was given about 20 or so minutes.

i have a few problems w/ that match listing... granted i ordered it anyway. and i do understand since they were made in such limited quantities that it was made more for the current fans as more of a "year in review" than a true "best of..." designed to bring in new fans to what is an all around stellar promotion (easily 2nd best in the states in my opinion (and if Ian had the bank rolling in from other people's success like RF does, he'd be #1 w/o a doubt)) i would've liked to have seen Hero/B-Boy from the TPI on the DVD, although i understand that Lynn/Styles on an IWA show was one of Ian's dream matchups... and i might have wanted to put Cannon/Stone from 12-20 on instead of the Hero match (as mentioned in an above post, it's not as good w/o seeing the previous match. while the Cannon match isn't as good, it stands on its own better). and certainly would've put it on instead of the Sydal/Delirious v. Boz/Bradley tag. and no Mitch Rider would've been preferred. eh, such is life. ... but all in all it looks to be an excellent way to foolishly spend money better used for rent and bills. so i'm happy
