    LOST

RedJed, Jacob wasn't harnessing rope in the beginning. He was spinning yarn, and then weaving it into the tapestry. My wife spins yarn, and that's the closest I've ever seen her get to a geekgasm.

    Cornette Bashes WWE Creative

Actually, that's a bit of a difference. Cornette was a performer who actually worked in front of a live crowd and understands the nuance. Russo didn't work in front of a live crowd until he made it to WCW. Your job as a booker isn't to tell stories per se, it's to get people enticed to come back next show and give you their money. There's an understanding in how to do it that you don't get by writing for Conan or a magazine. It comes from experience in front of a crowd.

I don't even want to know how much they would charge for even a domestic beer. Soda is like 5 bucks right? So Beers gotta be a kidney or something. *Rimshot*

People also cheer someone who claims he's homicidal, genocidal, and suicidal. So should we expect to see someone under a hood calling themselves "Genicide" anytime soon?

    Impact Spoilers for December 11th

I disagree. You can give announcers a basic rundown of where you're going with an angle, and let them run off of that. They will still give the vibe you're wanting, and it doesn't come across as contrived. Giving them a blow for blow script prevents them from being natural and relaxed. They focus more on "Don't want to miss calling this certain spot this certain way" than actually calling what's going on and that hurts the product.

    The Dark Knight

Seeing that the 3 Pirates of the Caribbean movies have been a majority of his work in the past five years, I'm not sure that mocking his use of an English accent is valid. The only movies he's worked in other than those since 2003 have been 3 Burton films (Sweeney Todd, Corpse Bride, and Wonka) the Libertine and Finding Neverland. Most of which are set in England.

    The Dark Knight

While the Nolan's wrote the script, Chris Nolan has said in almost every interview available that Ledger's acting took the role (paraphrasing) above and beyond everything that they intended in the script. While the screenplay was excellent, Ledger made the role. You can't tell it's him behind the make up. Yes, that's his job, but not every actor *coughNICHOLSONcough* can do that.

    The Dark Knight

It's Bob Kane actually. And it was actually him and Bill Finger if I'm not mistaken (nor wikipedia), though Finger never gets credit in moves/adaptations. I wonder why that it? Finger never gets credit the same way Jack Kirby never got credit. Back in the day, the publishers saw the artists as replaceable, and that the true talent (and thus the credit of creating the character) was the writing.

    Impact Spoilahz for This Thursday

It's not that you said men shouldn't be beating on women. It's that you disrespected Jingus when he has made the effort to be a professional wrestler when all you do is watch and play armchair booker. The argument about Spike not letting TNA show male on female violence was fine, but you went too far by insulting his efforts as an in ring talent. That was unnecessary, even if he did play the "You've never been in the ring" card. And whether or not I could kick your ass, you'd think twice before opening your mouth like that again.

    Impact Spoilahz for This Thursday

You should thank God this is an internet message board and not a personal conversation, because if Jingus wouldn't beat the shit out of you for that, I would. For most anyone to be able to step into a ring for a match, you have to at least know how to take a bump, and that alone allows the "You've never been in the ring" card. You don't have to be HHH, Kurt Angle or Terry Funk to know what it's like in that ring. Show the man some respect for being willing to sacrifice his body for the entertainment of others. Jingus' argument is valid in that the same kind of "faking" goes on in both wrestling and movies. The only difference is that wrestling is promoted as "live" and "real" instead of part of a distinct universe. I think it's kind of hypocritical for Spike to pull a "no violence on women" policy, especially since A) they once featured that on WWE programming, B) they do show other shows with violence towards women, and C) they show plenty of programming that objectifies women sexually. Where Jingus' argument fails is that we're talking about pro wrestling. It's impossible to get people to treat it like any other show because for some reason people think it's more "real" than any other show. IT doesn't make sense to me, because as a kid I thought both wrestling and the Dukes of Hazzard were real. No one complained about the Dukes of Hazzard teaching kids bad driving skills and disrespect for the law, though.

    Random Thoughts 3-27-08 to 5-28-08

What a pro! What do you expect when you give Sandman his cases of beer before the show starts? The Sandman wrestles with alcohol in his system, when I worked with him in Oct. he was drinking while all the matches were going on but he still wrestled his match just fine. It just looks like he got his drink on way early in the night. If you're getting paid you can at least make sure your sober enough to work a match. I'd say get this guy in rehab, but it would ruin his gimmick. Watching that video makes me think that promoter is fairly stupid. 1) He let the Sandman have access to enough alcohol backstage to get him that toasted. 2) He let the Sandman go out that toased. 3) He made an immature video about the Sandman being in front of his crowd that toasted. That's not reflecting as poorly on the Sandman as it is the promoter.

I watched that at my church when I was about 7, and it scared me to death because everyone I knew acted like it was a soon to come reality. Now, it's an old joke between me and my cousins

I actually used her name, seeing that he gave a link to her website. And by mentioning that, I am neither trying to be holier than thou, or competing to be most sympathetic. Mourning the loss of a close family member can be incredibly painful. Not everyone finds loss of life to be a place for a joke.

    Moments that irritated you

The entire Sting vs. Abyss angle in TNA. Sting, who has always played by the rules, violently attacks James Mitchell because Mitchell is keeping a secret about Abyss, who Sting is trying to rehabilitate. Abyss doesn't want the secret out, but Sting doesn't care! Now, we know that Sting beat the secret out of Abyss' FATHER. Way to go, Stinger. Way to "Love thy neighbor." Someone should've told Russo that Sting used "mind games" to freak out the nWo back in the day.
