XBox 360 at Amazon.com - No Bundles Needed
Hawkius Maximus replied to bradolson's topic in Video Games
Is there an actual reason anyone would buy the 299 verison? I mean...stupid people, sure, but beyond that? Not that I'd EVER pay that for a system, but still. 299 with basicly nothing, or 399 with a bunch of shit that will easily cost you MORE then a hundred bucks? Sounds like a no-brainer to me. -
Would the original game be worth picking up now? I mean, less then twenty used, but still...is it worth it when this thing's coming out soon? I've always been interested in the game...just...no money.

If it's the NJPW thing you mentioned earlier, it IS Nightwish, and it's the song "FantasMic" from what I know...I don't watch NJPW, but I found how about the particular song from another friend who watches NJPW. ...As for WHY it's used by NJPW, I have no fucking clue at all. It's not even near Nightwish's best songs. Shit like 10th Man Down, Over the Hills and Far Away and such just blow Fantasmic out of the water so bad it's not even funny. Fantasmic is also Eight minutes long... In general, I gravitate towards female singers for metal in either Japanese or English. I just prefer listening to a female sing then a man. EDIT: WHOOOA I was wrong. This is NOT Fantasmic. It's Ghost Love Score, from Once.
-
Nightwish lives or dies with Tarja really. Take away her, and the band isn't half as good. Although the male vocalist has his moments, no way would I even download a band with just him singing. My problem with Coil, is from what I've heard...70% of the song is his singing. Which suuuucks.
-
Honest question, and I don't mean to derail this subject...but why do people prefer Lacuna Coil over Nightwish? I got into Coil first, but while the two female singers from their respective bands are pretty close, the male lead in Coil just ruins songs for me. I've got Coil's Comalies album, and a few other songs...should I just look deeper into them? On the other hand, I have a couple Nightwish albums, and while the male vocals can be sketchy at times the ones on Once are pretty damn good.

I'm so fuggin excited for this show. MIRKO! FEDOR! FINALFUCKINGLY! I got the Opening MW GP show...wasn't overly impressed when the three opening fights were boring as hell (To their credit. Arona, Igor and Nakamura DID try...), and skipped the second round despite wanting to see it. However, there was no fucking way I was skipping the finals. Shogun v.s. Alistair, Silva v.s. Arona, Mirko v.s. Fedor, Yoshida v.s. Abbot. This show is STAAACKED. Anyone else primed for this mofo?

I'm not saying Wanderlai is the best fighter in the world or anything. I'm saying it's unfair to drop Silva from #1 or #2 when he has not been beaten by anything other then a Decision in years. Thats my major statement. The Couture comparison doesn't hold up, because Randy got KO'd. Silva went to a decision, there IS a difference.
-
One win or loss does not make or break you. Wanderlai Silva went on the single most impressive winning spree in the history of MMA, and you want to move him from #1 because he lost by DECISION? Madness. Ricardo Arona beat Wanderlai, I won't or can't denie that...but what happens in the GP doesn't mean it will happen in a regular fight. Fighters try to conserve their energy for the next round, and you could tell Silva was playing it safe for the most part. You cannot tell me that the fight would have went Arona's in a regularly scheduled fight because you can't. Fifteen minutes is five less then twenty, and Silva has a reputation of going balls out if he thinks he's losing. That said, Arona won the fight dominately, and should be in the top three for this. He did what no one else could, but at the same time it was ONE VICTORY. Arona has never looked as impressive as he has lately, but that one victory was completely overshadowed when he got OWNED by Shogun. Shogun...I'd put him at #2. He's what? 9-0 in PRIDE? Thats highly impressive. The problem is, is until Silva is beaten for that title belt he's carried for the last four or whatever years, he'll be #1 in my eyes...If they fight, I think Shogun could take out Silva, but that fight will probably never happen inless Shogun & Ninja leave Chute Box, so it's a rather moot point. Edit: I should mention that I think everyone knows Silva's BJJ claims are blown out of preportion now. Silva's never shown any great ground skills beyond how to contain someone. He's like Mirko in that regard. No offense, just the ability to HOLD a bastard there. He's even mastered his own technique for getting up. The "Get the yellow card for stalling...then go for KO" technique. He even tried it against Arona...Didn't work.
-
To say that one loss makes Silva at the bottom of the LHW top five is well...uh...weird. Silva went FIVE YEARS without a single loss in the weight class. Arona did not submit him, he did not KO him. Arona won by decision, and hardly exposes Silva's one dimensional-ness. Arona is the best ground fighter in PRIDE's Middleweight division, if not in PRIDE. No one has ever beaten him down there. Just because Silva couldn't escape doesn't mean it exposed him. Arona's even went on record already saying that Silva's guard was so good he couldn't pass, or attempt any type of submission. That hardly tells me he was exposed. When Silva has lost by a KO or submission, we'll talk about losing him from #1 or #2, until then...No way does this make him any lower ranked.
-
It appears so...Arona didn't seem to realize he was having his brains beat in. *WHACK* "..WTF was that?" *WHACK*WHACK*WHACK* "...Help me.." *WHACK*WHACK*WHACK*WHACK* *dead*

SHogun is the most explosive fighter in MMA today. Just...holey crap did he own Arona HAARD.

Antonio Rodrigo Nogueria v.s. Mark Coleman at PRIDE 16. Looking back now, we shoulda knew who would have won this fight, but at the time, there was LOTS of doubt on if Nog could beat Coleman, since Coleman was still on a damn roll. The fight really brought the Triangle Choke to the forefront, as Nog caught Coleman with it, Coleman tried his general powering out of the move...and ended up caught in an Triangle Choke Armbar, forcing the submission. I was still pretty new to MMA, but I remember reading previews for the show, and NO ONE predicted that, and through that one fight it pretty much sealed the career of Coleman, and started Nogueria's massive reign at top. ...Plus, it was the first PRIDE show I ever bought.

[email protected] would be it. Thanks man.

Great spots from Wrestling Video Games
Hawkius Maximus replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Video Games
Myself and my friend have been Puroresu, and wrestling game fans since we met each other online four years ago. Even before we knew each other, we ran "Feds" in video games, and such. When we met each other, we both opened up what they call "V-feds" and started all that funs hit. Tonight, we fired up Zsnes for the first time in about six months and waged war in Jikkyou Power Pro Wrestling 96' in REAL(Shoot) matches and Electrified Barbwire Landmine Deathmatches. In one of the Shoot matches, he picked a little Japanese shooter from REAL named "Makoto" while I picked a burley Russian dude. The end of that match came when after I ate 60 high kicks, I spammed Belly to Belly Suplexes, then hit Three Fisherman Suplex's, and killed him dead with a High Angle Fisherman Buster for the 10 count. In a session we just ended, we had Bandou (aka Onita) and this Gladiator rip off guy fight in a long bloody death match for the BOM title. End came when I whipped him into the barbwire, then Jumping Powerbombed him to hell for the win. Wolf..whatshisname never got to a V1 defense, as he fought my friend's created character from the career mode. Highlight of the match was both of us hitting 10 bombs ATLEAST, multiple insane suicide dives, and the best highlight of the entire night. I was on the apron, and took off running...I planned to stop, but didn't and cracked my head on the ring post. I fell off... and landed on a bomb. I spent a full minute on the floor pushing buttons, before finally going "...Pick me up, I'm dead.". Within two minutes after hitting the ring I was dead and we had a Shin Champion. We fought a rematch, but the result was the same and I was polished off to give his "Man with no name" a V1 defense. Next, I picked a masked ninja submission dude, and was KILLED for 10 minutes, only getting brief bursts of offense here and there from using the only good mvoe the guy seemed to have, a Moonsault Footstomp. He finished me off with a Fireball > Moonsault combination to end the fairly onesided affair. In the next bout, I picked Bandou, figuring his chance at a title shot had come. For 15 minutes, we traded headbutts, illegal attacks, suicide dives, rope hits, and insane bomb spots. I Thunder Fire Bomb'd him on the floor, and he rolled to get up...only to hit TWO BOMBS at once, effectively rendering him dead. In the ring, I hit three rapid succession Thunder Fire Bombs to crown a new champion. After that match, the rematch was shaping up to be intense. My friend charged the ring before the bell with a lariat, I avoided and began to headbutt him. He fought back and finally the bell rang. He got me down and proceeded to boot Bandou in the crotch ten times before I rolled out of the ring. Once out there, I promptly hit a bomb, he came out and dragged me into a second one. I fought back, but hit a third, leaving me hurt. Inside the ring we went, and we traded some more. He backed away, and I charged. He charged at the last second and CREAMED me with a Jumping Knee, and covered for a joke. ...Only...Bandou didn't kick out. By a fucking JUMPING KNEE in TWO MINUTES FOURTY FIVE SECONDS. The king of BOM, KO'd by a goddamn knee to the face. We laughed for a couple minutes, and have retired Bandou from our competitions due to severe brain injures from eating a shoot knee to the goddamn face. After that, we ran an intense slugfest in a Shoot match. He was SHIINA, aka Akira Maeda, while I was...some Russian dude named Kaiser. From the opening bell, we were beating the ungodly shit out out of each other with kicks, with me nearly getting a KO from a high kick two minutes in. SHIINA fought back, and used rapid submissions to keep me at bay. At around the eleven minute mark, the bout was fairly even, with a few falls on each side, and I went for a high kick...Only for SHIINA to kick me in the gut with a middle kick, doubling me over for the ten count in a bizarre finish. Fuun shit overall. -
Comments that don't warrant a thread
Hawkius Maximus replied to {''({o..o})''}'s topic in Video Games
Not so much a comment, more like a question. Why have so many developers abandoned the Gamecube? I've never really understood the reasoning behind it. I understand that it sells the least out of all the systems, but there are still people out there who have the damn system. Why cut off potential profits by cutting off a group of gamers? In my case, the Cube is the only system I have. Not only am I not really in the financial situation that I can easily cough up cash for a new system, I'm also not as much of a gamer anymore, so the purchase would be sorta stupid in the long run. That being said, however, there are still games that I'd love to play on the Xbox or the PS2, that the Cube never got, and I would likely pay to play them on the system. I'll probably end up with a PS2 or Xbox, or their next incarnations before its all said and done, but I'm not eleven years old anymore. This whole "Buying systems with my own money" crap is getting somewhat old on me, and having games I'd like to pay cut off from me, and almost no support for the system I DO buy that has sold units is fucking frustrating. -
Supreme Court will take your land.

I actually did a report for college on Kelo & the legal battle for the residents. Dear god this sucks. -
I doubt any WWE wrestlers will be in the game. They moved away from that with Z, but in their place added indy guys who have wrestled in Japan like Jarrett, Low Ki and others. I'd say that Samoa Joe might make it. Spanky is a shoo-in due to Z1 and HUSTLE appearances. Steve Corino is probably a lock. I'd just not go into it expecting Steve Austin's or Goldbergs. You likely wouldn't find them.
-
PS2 sadly...and yeah, no port to the States. I don't even OWN a PS2, and I'm considering picking one up for this game.

I think I can probably jump in here somewhat. Myself and a friend have been tracking translated news, and speculation based off the screens seen thus far. Confirmed: - New body type "Giant" for Andre, Baba and, others - Face editing - Cage matches - Hugely expanded rosters - More moves - A new attack type: Diagonal Attack. For things like the John Woo, Shining Triangle, etc. - New entrances - Match Maker mode - Two Block style Round Robins(FINALLY) Speculation based on pictures and what little news available: - Roster's broken down into GROUPS. On the View Japan(NJPW) roster listing, in the background you can faintly see "CDU" or something similar which would be CTU. This leads the thought into thinking each fed will be broken down into groups. - True elimination tag matches - Five on Five matches (Not sure where this one came from. Take as will.) - Match Maker mode is either Final Fire Pro(GBA)'s Management of Ring mode where you take control of a federation for several years (Think EWR or TEW here) OR it's Match Maker from KOC2(PS2) where you have to meet certain goals while running shows with the things the game gives. - WAY more match options, so many that the option listings in the match setup looks doubled in size. - Rumors of a couple more death matches in the game. There is bound to be some that I'm forgetting...but thats the main points off the top of my head.

How much better is Rome Total War to Medievil Total War? I picked the later up at Wal-Mart a month back, since I had wanted Rome. I gave the game a shot, but with no handy manual and the complex combat it left me slightly bewildered. Is Rome easier to pick up? More complex? Eh?

Whats really fucking fucked up here, is today is/was also my Birthday (11th)...and I'm also nineteen...and I was depressed about it. Obviously, you have stolen my identity and I demand it back.

The History of the Horsemen
Hawkius Maximus replied to Team Angle Pusher's topic in General Wrestling
I read this entire thing a few days back when I had little to nothing to do during the day. It was so amazingly awesome. I loved the half shoot / half kayfabed style of it, giving a full perspective of what was going on. Sure, there are errors but when you write something so friggin huge, and you don't spend a few years working on it, there will be errors. For the most part, it was AMAZING and helped remind me why the NWA was my favoritist evah. Thanks alot for posting it! -
Lost was friggin badass last night. Like...really...badass. I LOVED how Jack started practically losing his mind to save Boone. He had this distant look on his face after the blood transfusion, but you could still see that he was determined to try what he could to save Boone, even though he knew it was hopeless. The preview for the next episode fucked me up. Jack beating on Locke. Sayid with a knife to Locke's throat, then pointing a gun at him. Finally, we get the shot of Locke being shot to all hell. That...that's fucked up.

Honestly, I don't get the dislike for Alterbridge. Every song I've heard from the album was really good. Beyond that, Metalingus is easily the best theme on Raw. Not only is it hard, catchy, and identifiable it also has lyrics that EXACTLY mirror Edge's deranged character. It seriously sounds like the freaking song was just written for the character. References to changing their ways, avoiding fear of the moment, and the chorus mentions the chasing of a broken dream. Seriously, listen to the song if you have it. The song friggin fits him like a glove.
