I'm just getting into the show, and I'm borrowing seasons 1-3. I'm halfway through season 1,and am getting bored with the "monster of the week" plots. People tell me that season 2 is a million times better character and plot wise. Is this true? Any seasons better or worse than this one?

VS Midnighter has fought this fight in his head a thousand times before Batman even lands a punch.

I highly reccomend reading the lengthy interview with Joe Quesada over at Newsarama (Joe Fridays Q & A) where he discusses this. It's an interesting plot decision, and I tend to agree with his reasoning for it. SPOILERS AHEAD Although, Quesada says that the mutant over-population issue has been something that has been gnawing at him for years, then I don't see why he greenlit projects like "District X", "NYX", and Grant Morrison's run on "New Xmen", where the stories were rooted in the fact that the mutant population was booming, only to pretty much cancel that out two years later with three words from Wanda. I think the current rumor that's going around is that the "168", or whatever big event that is in 2006, is the number of mutants left on the earth.

Terrific book. It would make a terrific "lost" type show. For more Brian K Vaughn greatness, check out "Ex Machina".

Sayid was probably taking the button pushing shift while everyone partied. At first I was thinking you guys were crazy for thinking Locke's boss was also Hurleys' boss, but I went back and checked it out, and, sure enough Hurleys manager looks like the same actor that played Locke's, sans longer hair and goatee.

Agassi/Blake was 5 star CLASSIC. 6-3, 6-3, 3-6, 3-6, 7-5. Blake played the match of his life right here. Let's see how he does in January at the Aussie Open.

Newsarama is reporting that none other than Jeph Loeb and Joe Maderuera will be taking over "ultimates 3" in the second quarter of 2k6. I hate Mad's art with a passion. I would have liked to see JG Jones or even Finch do this title.

A crappy xmen run during the 90's. He made "manga" a household word among mainstream comic nerds like me back in the day. I positively HATE his art. If I had to pick a decent replacement team, I'd go with Grant Morrison (JLA, Authority, New XMen) and David (?) Finch (New Avengers).

I read the first 4 issues of the jim lee/brandon choi run back in the day, then just lost interest. Recently, I bought the "homecoming" trade on a whim and loved it. I'm ordering "Gang war" and the acclaimed Version 2.0 trades with Joe Casey and Sean Phillips now, but is there a trade of the storyline from WildC.A.Ts #14-21? The trades I see have everything up to #13 and anything after #21. What's that storyline called?

Don't know if this was a topic already..couldn't find it in the archives, so forgive me if this is retread.. Just picked up the trade at Barnes & Noble and loved it. I like the homages to DC villains and heroes and the character of The Killer kicks ass. Thoughts? Like/Dislike? PS. JG Jones should take over for Hitch if Hitch backs out of an Ultimates III.

That's what it started out as, but, in reading Alan Moore's run, he really got into the minds of each character, fleshing them out in ways that Lee probably never intended. Casey's run went even deeper, exploring what happens when the war is over and the team has to call it a day, so to speak. I'm hoping Morrison can kickstart the series again. My dream WildC.A.T.s team? Thought you'd never ask.. Maul Condition Red ( i just think his costume is better than Grifters) Void Spartan Majestic Voodoo Fuck it, throw in Ripclaw. Maul = most underrated wildcat.

Terminator and Jason Voorhees are smart and crafty, whereas your typical slowmoving zombie isn't that crafty. I always thought a faster moving zombie is way scarier than a slow moving one. But a crafty Voohees is scarier than them all.

I've been on a 90's Image kick lately, and was cracking up at all the wolverine clones that were out there...any others I missed?

Yeah...my first attempt at a poll here and it sucked. someone delete this thread for me.

Just saw an advanced screening..Not bad. It's most definetly aimed at more of the "family" demographic, which Marvel admits is what they were going after. Forget Grimm, Johnny Storm stole every scene he was in.

Julian McMahon was fine as a Victor Von Doom, but as the hooded, masked Dr. Doom, it seemed a little forced. I think all the actors, with the exception of Ian Grufford as Mr. Fantastic were great, and if given more script would have bumped the movie up to a ** maybe ***. I agree with the people who went in without any expectations. It's a fun, family film about the Fantastic Four. They're not tortured, they're not troubled or brooding. It captures the material well.

I always loved the episode where Lex Luthor buys out the Daily Planet, and that one kid gets framed for blowing up the printing plant. Clark, Lois, Jimmy and Perry are left without jobs and Lois shacks up with Luthor, much to the ire of Clark.

The official Rescue Me season 2 thread
Jonathon replied to Youth N Asia's topic in Television & Film
Episode rocks so far. I love the way they juxtaposed the busier station with the more suburban station. Captured the moods PERFECTLY. I know a couple guys who's idea of an exciting time is working a car fire...this scene made me crack up. Plus, TOBIAS BEECHER from "OZ" is in this show now! I marked. -
I'm liking the idea of Guy Pearce or Crispin Glover as Joker. Both are versatile actors who are not huge marquee names that, if cast, could really blow up if they're cast in a high profile movie like this. I liked how the DA in "batman begins" gets offed, which leaves us open for Harvey Dent to make an appearance in the sequel, then to become full fledged heeled out Two Face in the third installment. The real question is, who to cast as Two Face?

Somebody spoil it for me. What happened?

Film of the year, so far, in my book. Reminded me a little of "magnolia", in the fact that the movie tracks lives of horrible people who are good underneath, and outstandingly good people who are quite ugly underneath, and how their lives interact. Very good way of showing that everyone has a backstory, and things aren't always as they appear. It was nice seeing Sandra Bullock playing against type and not hamming it up in this one.
