By the way, the correct answer is that everybody who has the power to make a conscious choice is, or can be perceived as, an idiot.

They're my opinions, backed up with science. Of course I'm entitled to them, the same you're entitled to yours. It doesn't mean we can't debate them though. The difference between weed and diet soda (although anyone who does that to the point that it affects them is an idiot too) is that it provides sustinence. Weed doesn't, it's used purely for it's psychosctive properties. With weed, you don't know how long it takes for the receptors in your brain to fully heal from the effects of getting stoned, the knowledge of the levels of aspartame that it takes to affect you are more widely known. The bragging is subjective, I suppose. What I see as boasting that they're so stoned right now, I see as bragging, whereas you may see that as simply documentation of fact. However, I'm sure you can agree that bragging about how much weed you do over the net is pretty retarded. As for the last point, the benefits you've outlined (liking the taste, wanting to relive stress) in my belief, don't outweigh the negatives (potentially damaging the receptors in your brains, the use of a drug which scientists still don't know the full effect of). Certainly, risking the negatives because you like the taste is pretty dumb. And you don't need to smoke to relieve stress (and if you do, we're back on some people needding to do drugs), yes it can help, but there's plenty of other ways to relieve stress which don't involve pumping drugs into your body.

Are you saying people are paying good money for dope (while cheap, is rarely free) and doing it in a way which offers them no pleasure and purely for, what, the taste? What reason are people doing it for in this scenario? And what are the positives that outweigh the negatives?

To be fair, if you use a sentence enough, it's a phrase. It could be that someone in his town used to say it wrong, and it's spread round into common useage. For example, tout de gras is now a commonly known phrase on this board because of this thread.

You, however, obviously don't since you're spending so much time getting bent out of shape over what other people do with their time, bodies/brains, lives. Which maybe sugests I was making a subjective statement as opposed to a generalisation, eh? Using "people" sounds like a pretty broad generalization to me. If you were making a subjective statement (on purpose) then you should've said "most people" or "some people" or even "certain people" - but you didn't, so you still fail on all accounts. Well, saying "the fact the people feel like" is obviously grammatically incorrect regardless, so whichever way you look at it the sentance was incorrect. Of course not every single person in the world feels that they need drugs to have a good time, but a fair few do.

What trolling? You're making points, I'm exposing them as bollocks. Okay, you're on about marijuana now. In that case, what medical studies have said that recreational marijuana use is beneficial? As i said before, cannabis can be beneficial when used in medicated doses to redress a chemical imbalance, but that's not recreational use. If you're getting high, it's because the dope is having a negative effect on receptors in your brain. THC provides the same effects as naturally occuring chemicals in your brain, so pumping large doese of it into your system isn't going to help. It's basic biology that if you misuse a part of your body, it will have a negative effect. No evidence is out there for cannabis being a gateway drug or for increasing the risk of cancer. However, the fact that you're pumping a drug into your system isn't going to be beneficial. And this is all leaving aside the fact the people feel like they need to use drugs to have a good time. Suck it up bitches!
