  1. I haven't seen the cartoon in years. So long as you don't give a fuck about the plot logic and just enjoy it as a big shiny movie, you're fine.

Just asume that Bumblebee was too drained to change forms due to having been in a heavier attack. Or that Megatron has some sort of weapon which stopped him from switching.

  2. I saw it twice in the cinema (Once I sneaked into it after 300, the oter time I dragged my girlfriend there). Loved it, but more for the asthetic than the plot. Brilliantly filmed movie.

I think it's out on DVD in the UK shortly for all you Yanks who can't get to see it, although it's a movie that you really need to see on the big screen.

  3. That match is way too early for me. Only times I ever woke up that early for a sporting event were during Athens 04 for the US basketball team, WC 02 (and that was at 2 in the morning for most of the games, talk about turning my schedule around so I could go to 8th grade, come straight home and sleep, wake up at 11:30 PM or 2 AM and go about my day. By the time I got to the end of school I was going on empty.) and WC 06. If it wasn't just a friendly, I'd do it, but as it is, it's torrent for me. During the season I'll be waking up at 4 and catching a stream.

Where can you get a torrent for it from?

PM if needs be. I'd be interested in seeing some non-televised games.

  4. I think 2005 was a bit wet (I remember dodging puddles on the way in) but I don't remember it raining constantly over the weekend or any pools of water, just some mud. My tent got slashed into on the Saturday night, so I know I didn't get rained on for the rest of the festival.

May have been 2004 as I didn't go.

  5. It should be a good attacking exhibition game. Pompey have a big enough squad now that we can afford to put decent players on the bench too (not Torres and Gerrard mind) so hopefully it'll be good experience ahead of the new season for us.

I'll watch the second half on my lunch break. Hopefully we're not two goals or more down by then.

  6. If the MLS sticks around for a few more decades, so you can get long term fans and rivalries, it has a better chance of taking off. Better players would also help, as would having the US team in more meaningful conpetitions (say have yearly summer tournament with the best teams from Europe or South America: they bring weaker teams for experience, the US wins, everybodies happy).

Freddy Adu also need to move to a European club in order to develop into a great player. Unfortunately, however good he may be a youth level, he won't progress much further with the quality of the game in the States. It looks like he may be going to Tottenham Hotspurs in the UK, which may be a good thing although they have a record of wasting talent.

With the low scoring thing, I like the fact that a goal can come at any time and change the course of a match. For every goal, there's usually a fair few opportunities which are missed.

Ultimately, it's a cultural thing. I couldn't watch a Baseball, Hockey, Basketball or Football game without getting far more bored than a Soccer game.
