  1. Idea? the kid was mentally retarded. There is no theory on that one.

As for the crossface thing, the kid was tiny. Fucking dwarfish. He was too small for him to do that. Rear naked choke is most probably what was used, with the lack of bruising on the kid.

You know, i watched the tribute show last night, as I didn't get a chance to see it on Monday, and honestly, not one bit of it hit me as disturbing. you saw some matches with the guy, you saw the people that spent almost every waking moment with him for the past few years being completely honest about what he meant to their lives. Do I believe that he loved his family? Yeah, I do. I think he probably was a good father (don't know about husband). But the fucker went psycho and killed them all.

I know you guys are saying we don't know him and all that shit, but the kind of asshole that always had this type of violence in them doesn't start off by killing his wife and a 7 year old. You have guys that knew him that said they never knew him to lose his temper, let alone do this and I don't think they are just feeding bullshit. The guy they knew wasn't the same guy who choked his wife with a cable cord and suffocated his son.

thanks for posting the best post in this whole thing. I think as we become more removed from the sudden nature of this incident more people will come to realize that while YES, what he did we cannot forgive, it's highly doubtful that it was the same man we grew up with on our televisions, posters and minds.

The thing is, though, he was. Maybe the guy changed from when he was in Japan or ECW, but this is the same guy we were watching a week ago against Burke, not knowing he was capable of this.

  2. Nice to see that "He had steroids" somehow means "Steroids were involved". He had at least one Bible on hand, does that mean religion was involved?

I know what you're saying, but laying bibles beside the family members you just killed does kind of suggest that religion was involved on some level, if only that he thought there was a heaven he could send them to.

  3. Let's look at the guy's past. He was, by all accounts, an abuser of steroids. He stole his boss' wife. He bailed on a struggling promotion the day after they made him the focus of the company. There isn't one thing there that suggests he would go on to murder his whole family, but he's not a saint that was destroyed the horrible underbelly of wrestling.

To be fair, all that happened after he had been wrestling for years and made it to the top of his profession.

  4. Why does it have to be pre-meditated?

Because a psychotic break doesn't really apply in a case like this. He was on the road already and gearing up for a PPV where he'd be leading the ECW brand. He'd have to pre-meditate something like this to know that he was going to skip the show(s), go back home, kill the wife and then kill the son the next day.

If his wife called him home like he told the WWE, they could have gotten into a fight and he killed her in the heat of the arguement, and then kill his son and himself.

I can't find any records of house shows 21 or 22/6, so it's likely he returned home after the ECW tapings. He then phoned in saying he wouldn't be able to return to the road. He was scheduled to main event the 23/6 house show, which he didn't show up to. Maybe he had already killed Nancy at this point, maybe he was planning it for later, we may never know. But it looks like he didn't get a plot while on the road, then asked to leave to be able to kill her.

  5. Champions of Heaven???

    Haha, that's hilarious.

Yeah. If we are going with the notion of Heaven & Hell, the substance abuser and the murderer aren't going to the good one.

Which raises the question: Is it better to sin at the beginning of your life, seek forgiveness, and die, OR lead a fairly good life, commit a horrible act and die? I'll grant it, Eddie never killed anyone, but I'm just asking a general question.

Well, if we're going into Catholicism, which I assume Eddie was, then you can repent your sins and get into heaven.

From a moral point of view, neither is ideal but it's probably better to learn and mend your ways. It depends on the scale of the misdemeanor though, of course.

  6. There are a lot of things that don't click with a pre-meditated murder/suicide. The biggest being the following:

    - Who goes out of their way to leave the house show circuit to kill his family? I could understand if Benoit was home for a day or two and thus had the time and assuming he had a psychotic break, the motive to kill his family. Meltzer had already reported that Benoit was called back to Atlanta for a family emergency. It doesn't click that the guy would apparently snap while on the road and of all things go back home to kill his family. If he snapped and killed himself in his hotel that'd at least make more sense.

    - Also, if you run with the idea that this was pre-meditated, who kills 3/4 of the family? Wouldn't he wait for his older son to be home (the kid was in Edmonton IIRC)?

    - If he killed the wife on Saturday and watched the PPV with the son on Sunday, isn't the kid going to notice that his mom isn't around all day? Was the office door locked? The kid is going to wonder where his mom is all day and all night (her car is going to be in the driveway obviously). The likelihood of Benoit killing the son that late the day after is slim to none.

This conference is going to be really interesting. If the guy killed his family, a true hero of mine is basically scum. I truly hope there was an X-Factor involved in all this.

I thought he went home, and then called to say he couldn't make the PPV due to a family emergency.

Also, reports say that he killed his wife Saturday night and his son Sunday morning while he was still in bed.

  7. Unless he's drafted to ECW or SD, Johnny Nitro has been fucked over a little bit by the draft. He went from IC contender to heatless jobber tag-team pretty quickly, and now his partners been drafted whil a bunch of more over mid-carders have come to Raw.

  8. Ah, I forgot we have a resident Pompey fan on here.

    <_<

I can't see us beating you first game of the season. If we do, thoug, it may be a long hard season.

Add that to our next five games being against Man U, Chelsea, Bolton (although I don't think they'll do that well without Allardyce), Arsenal and Liverpool, and I don't think we'll make the flying start we did last season. I'd rather play the big 5 at the end of the season when they have one eye on Europe/FA Cup finals. We beat United and Liverpool that way.

This season could well see the band of clubs under the top 4 doing getting larger and competitive. West Ham are spending a lot, Allardyce and O'Neil at Newcastle and Aston Villa will probably have good seasons. Everton & Spurs should have good seasons again, and hopefully Pompey will be in the mix (although that all depends on what strikers we sign). I can see Wigan, Man City and Fulham having bad seasons and competing with the promoted clubs for the relegation spaces. Derby will likely struggle, I'm afraid, but the money they gain will stand them in good stead in the future. They may be the Watford of this season.
