Why is everyone jumping on the Pandas...they have had those initials since 1961.....McMahon and his company are the ones who violated the agreement...NOT the World Wildlife Fund... If I were them I would be fighting as well...
-
This is SAD.... When Vince isn't there ..Stephanie McMahon(creative director) MUST be able to have control over the show.....she has been the creative director for 4 years...and she hasn't learned anything yet..... This latest news just proves that Stephanie isn't fit for the role as creative director...

This is long overdue...... Either they need to mix up the two commentating teams or add a third man to each group... Have J.R. and Paul Heyman team up again(I actually think they did a great job in 2001...and for a short time they were with each other...they developed a great chemistry)...... There are alot possibilties that can happen...
-
That's one thing I didn't understand...they had a golden opportunity to expand their base......WWE talks about them being more of an "entertainment" company well they had a ONE HOUR SHOW that was on the KING of Pop Culture .....MTV(even if some of you do hate it)....... I wonder what writers like Russo or Kreski would have thought about having a one hour show on MTV....they would have killed for that opportunity AND capitalized on it...

This doesn't look good especially when you are trying to renew a television contract...and looking for other T.V. executives to take a look at the product... If WWE hits below 2.5 at the end of this year...you can say goodbye to WWE on Spike TV Rumors are already spreading that there is potential that some NFL games will end up on Spike TV...when negotiatons between Viacom and the NFL begin next year....in fact all the stations that carry the NFL expire in 2005...

Interesting Observer this week..
-
I think UPN will keep Smackdown....even if WWE did leave Viacom(the parent company of UPN).....Smackdown is under a different contract I think.... What would be funny is...if RAW moved to UPN...
-
I think I will I do agree that it wouldn't be the right move for them to move at this time...since they have only been on the network for 4 years......McMahon may have to settle for a lower contract this time around.... Of course Viacom did sell their stock they had in WWE two years ago
-
Why do you guys keep saying AOL Time Warner...that company doesn't even exist anymore....last year the company renamed itself back to its original name "Time Warner"...... And as far as deals goes....I'm willing to bet...if WWE starts putting out descent numbers in 2005...up until maybe May or June.....FX will probaly be the one to get WWE programming......Fox Broadcasting was in the bid to get WWE programming in 2000 but they were outbid by Viacom..... Viacom and WWE are PROBALY not in the best relationship right now....Sunday Night Heat was removed from MTV....they have had numerous time slot changes for Saturday and Sunday show....Viacom has canceled WWE shows in the past(one was a diva show...not exactly canceled but was moved to a time slot that WWE didnt' like)...I"m sure Viacom is pissed at WWE numbers when they are not getting the numbers they suspected to get...and probaly isn't worth the 500K plus a week for their programming..... ..with not so great numbers....and with two shows below the 1.0 mark.. Of course it will all come down to negotiations....I however do not suspect WWE to get a big programming contract that they received in 2000.....whoever gets the programming rights...the sum will not be as high as Viacom paid 4 years ago..... Also...if Viacom does lose WWE programming what happens to Smackdown????? Since UPN is owned by Viacom

Yep...Patterson and The Rock are very good friends(and continues to support Rock in the locker room)...and if this is true...I'm sure this will piss the Rock off....if it was all done by politics... Which now brings me to this....if Patterson can't get through to McMahon....a guy that McMahon would always listen to in years past....then who the hell can......this is a bad sign for things to come IMO...
-
Ok this is the season premiere....although this is suppose to be special because its the 5th year anniversary....why wasn't there a new set.....hell why wasn't it even LIVE...
-
This would be a stupid mistake....Teddy Long has done a great job as the GM of Smackdown....and his character hasn't taken either side....but remain impartial......
-
Credit Wrestlezone.com/insiders It seems as if Tony Shivonne and WWE are about to finish negotiating a deal in which Shivonne would become some kind of commentator on their programs. One reason our source reported, the WWE was looking was because Jerry The King Lawler is looking for some time off and they would like a new face at the table. THIS IS THE GREATEST ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE HISTORY OF OUR GREAT SPORT Well glad to see Tony back.....but I don't see J.R. and Tony working together.....two PBP guys do NOT work.... But I doubt this is true though.
-
Will this premiere episode/5th year annivesary...include a brand new set.../???
-
Well I know this is complete bullshit then....^^^ Of course they could be right...
-
It would be weird having RAW open up with Schivonee and another announcer(maybe Mark Madden).....and have Bischoff come down the aisle to open up the show.... Bizarre....
-
Very interesting.......
-
^^^Great points...and a great post.... September 2000 is where it all began....when will this era end?
-
This is what I don't get... McMahon has two guys who once were competing against his company...and now he employs them both....wouldnt' it be wise to rebuild that fire and let them run separate creative teams to see who comes out on top.....You know Bischoff doesn't want to be out done by Heyman and vis versa.....this would be a true brand split.....and of course have someone like Chris Kreski....who is very organized....oversee both of these teams.....???
-
I'm no fan of Heyman... As long as Gerwitz is in charge(did those two(Heymand and Gerwitz) get in a fight one night backstage last year)....don't expect too many changes... I like Gerwtiz though...he did some great stuff in 2000 with Kreski and others......he has talent....if he's surrounded by good people......Although I don't agree with him leading a creative team.....his special area is comedy(segments and promos)......
-
There would still be a wCw if it wasn't for the asses @ AOL.....they sold wCw behind Ted Turners back(one of the reasons why he resigned...among other things) I wish Time Warner didn't merge with AOL in 2000.....but I guess it doesn't matter now...because AOL Time Warner is no more...the company has went back to being Time Warner again....and a new executive in charge...
-
Brian Gerwitz was also employeed by MTV at one point in his short career(he's only 25 or 26 I think)...
-
Absolutley.....I think anyone on this board could write for the WWE(and turn it around) But since Vince prefers "hollywood writers" to fit his format(mostly to impress stockholders)....that's why I stated to get the best Hollywood writers you can find and let them write the shows and book(plus I prefer them as well).... Of course at this time...the creative team is mostly made of "wrestling people"...with only a couple of Hollywood heads....and since this is so...the format should change...
-
Times have changed....I concur But lets not forget...the writers who were part of that specific "system" are no longer part of it......you can't drive a vehicle with out the keys to the ignition because you will not have sucess(well you could but that's beside the point)
-
Well I agree with another thing.... But...that's why Hollywood writers are needed(the good ones)
