Ravishing you seem to forget that an all Hollywood team booked 2000....which of course was the most sucessful year WWE ever had....when it came to numbers... Plus I fell in love with the storylines...
-
Then they will remain in the 3's and possibly hit the 2 mark if they book an all "WRASSLIN SHOW" You will not grow just by booking a wrasslin show...you need some form of entertainment....the reason I started watching WWE was because of the shorter matches.....the amazing characters and storylines.....not one match got me hooked to WWE...it was the characters and the storylines.... But of course what WWE is writing now...is not exaclty what I call entertainment.....nor is the character development there..
-
Actually I think there are only 2 Hollywood writers left(most have quit).....Gerwitz on RAW and Dave Lagana on Smackdown...the rest have been in the wrestling business and are now apart of creative..... True...that's why I think "wrestling writers" should not write a T.V. show like RAW or Smackdown...unless they change the format....or edit it a little bit... Are u saying that Hollywood writers shouldn't being part of wrestling period and just stay in Hollywood.... THAT I do not agree with....they can bring in alot of casual viewers....which has been proven in the past..
-
Ok...I see your point..... But I assume the reason they want it be written as a T.V. show because the past sucess they have had with that formula.....record revenues....becoming a public traded company....they would have not accomplish this.....just being a wrestling show... But looking over the years...I can see why past writers have been burnt out...they have to write a "TV show" in just one week....instead of just putting matches on the card....w/o storylines....or promos... My suggestion would be....to just give the creative team a 2 week vacation....every 3 months......that way they can get some rest..
-
I will agree with some of that..... But I think he is open to change...he did hire an all Hollywood writing team in the past and he DID promote a magazine writer to head his creative team..... of course some probaly looked down on that....but he did it anyway.... Right now he is out of touch...but all he has to do is be willing to open his ears like he has done in the past...and great things will come...
-
Have u ever wrote or was head of the creative team? Why did the two best creative director directors quit... Vince Russo....too much stress, with the added Smackdown show... Chris Kreski....burnt out...too big of a load... Of course politics will cycle in....but the majority of it was stress and the work load.... Of course his storylines are going to be the foucs his wife is the Director of the creative team....of course she will tell the writers what to foucs on more and what not to worry about...

I think you are backwards... A T.V. show is much easier to wirte....there are several reasons why....they have off seasons....so they are able to plan way in advance and get there creative thoughts together.....with the breaks they can rest and get those creative juices flowing again....plus everything is taped so they can edit and redo everything... With a wrestling show...you never know what will happen... a guy could get hurt and it throws away all that was plan way in advance....so you have to restart things....then you may have a "Stone Cold" walk out...and you have to rewrite a whole show from scratch and among other things.... Just ask a Russo, Kreski, Gerwitz, Steph, Heyman, Bischoff or any other writers that have been creative heads or just writers...that a wrestling show is very hard to write and plan for.....and it is very stressful...especially if you are the one who heads the creative team... In a way I do feel sorry for Steph...she has to oversee two writing teams(RAW and Smackdown)...and now she is helping write Smackdown since another writer is on hiatius.....plus looking over RAW....imagine having that kind of load........That's why you need someone strong to handle these duties...
-
He was more of a leader....which is why he fits the "creative director" role....but he also have some great writing skills as well...IMO....of course the numbers in 2000 speak for themselves... Good point.... Writers are to blame as well....frankly they are the "source" of what goes on T.V....they are the brains...while everyone else figures out how to present it....but Steph still isn't excused...because she could have hired better writers...
-
This is so easy...to solve the creative problems...all they need is this format... Creative Director(oversee both shows): Chris Kreski....He is best suited for this position because he knows how to be organized.....and can plan way in advance(5 or 6 months).....when he was the creative director in 2000...he used a storyboard to keep track of angles and feuds. He does this for logic, pacing, and to assure that he didn't have any contradicting storylines or inconsistent interaction between wrestlers. Writers: RAW: Head: Vince Russo or Eric Bischoff Brian Gerwitz Tony Blacha(worked with Kreski in 2000) Shane McMahon And another Hollywood writer. Smackdown: Head: Paul Heyman Dave Lagana(current Smackdown writer) Michael Seitz Add two Hollywood writers. Creative Editor of the creative team: Vince McMahon Of course the only thing wrong with this format is...would Vince Russo or Eric Bischoff, and Paul Heyman put their egos aside and take orders from Chris Kreski.....since he would be the one putting the shows together and giving the final product to Vince McMahon....he would be McMahon's main man...and his source for information....meaning if Kreski doesn't like the idea the chances of it making to McMahon are slim....of course I think Kreski would be open to any ideas....

They fired the wrong one..... Bruce Pritchard needs to go....look what he has done with Smackdown.....do we need to forget what he did in the mid 1990's as part of the creative team.....almost drove WWE out of business.. Both are not great....but if they needed to fire someone it was BRUCE not Tom...
-
I guess he swtiched parties...that's happening alot...from both sides... From reading what Foley said....he just had conservative views...
-
So the negotiations with Viacom are starting right now...... I wonder how much they will get with this new contract...
-
I was watching the show for a little bit(but was mostly watching Football on FOX)...and noticed how awful the atmosphere is on Smackdown....the set is awful...there is no ramp(so it looks sloppy)....a fresh new look is needed... I wouldn't mind the Wrestlemania X8 set being Smackdown's but at a smaller size... Anyone else have any ideas...
-
Good point..... WWFE was there real name...they just didn't use it for Television...when McMahon was on T.V. during interviews(non WWE)...he referred it to "World Wrestling Ferderation Entertainment I wonder what they could have called.... Oh yeah...they could have swallowed there pride and use the wCw name

Looking at these posts it seems I'm the only one that agrees or supports the new code....Damnit its only a shirt and slacks.....hell if it was suit it wouldn't hurt anything.....
-
Now that would be interesting.... I didn't know Smackdown's anniversary was coming up this September...hopefully they will change it then..... I wish they were more creative with T.V. sets...because they are going to be used all the time...and a new one will not debut until 3 years later down the road...
-
I didn't know that... I thought WWE paid for everything...
-
The RAW theme is ok...but I like the old RAW IS WAR theme...they could remix it though.....maybe with a band... RAW has had the same set since the Attitude ERA...not one thing has changed just new additions...but its the same format.. It seems to me almost all the PPV sets are better than the show sets...even the graphics are better on PPV...
-
Very good.... But you are right...the fist is a no no...
-
That's not a bad idea at all.....infact I was thinking the same thing...when they first introduced the new graphics...where the going to introduce something like that...to match the graphics...
-
Which is about damn time... People are not stupid...nor should WWE pretend they are...everything is scripted...you are just an actor....and the ring is your set...and you are your own stuntman(or woman)... If this was Triple H's idea I applaud him for it.... When they go to media events(TV talk shows)....kayfabe should not be involved...just be yourself..
-
Well they could have thought of a new name...it wouldnt' hurt anything...since it wasn't doing so great in 2002 anyway...that could have been a rebranding year...where they try to get adjusted with the name...and branding....and they had a brand split as well durign that time... That year could have covered everything...new name...new company...new creative team...new attitude...new vision..
-
That's the problem with WWE now....they insult the viewers intelligence....even casuals who watch the program for about a month...will pick up on the announcers....knowing what they say..will not be the results of the match... WWE needs new announcers...and a whole new way of thinking....DO NOT INSULT YOUR AUDIENCE...
-
Vince McMahon is not a very good business man....praise him all you wont' but who in there right mind.....would break an agreement with a company(who owned the name first...World Wildlife)...just to piss them off by not following the agreement...and lose your company name...and have to rebrand yourself again.....VERY STUPID
