Trade rumors of Randy Johnson absolutely made my day today. The radio pundits are saying that this will open the door for Zito.

Best movies that didn't actually exist

I'm sorry if this is some joke I didn't get, but this movie really does exist. Didn't know this, I simply put 2 and 2 together. "The Christmas That Almost Wasn't But Then Was" from a Simpsons Christmas episode from a few years ago "The Itchy and Stratchy Movie" which Bart was grounded from seeing Anything starring Troy McClure, who you may remember from...

It blows my mind that the Giants can STILL make the playoffs. I don't want them to at this point.

    The Smarks Board circa 2001(?)

I don't remember how I found this site at all, but I joined in March 2002 as "undisputedjericho." I stopped watching wrestling altogether in the late summer of that year.

Brian Cashman is finally in full control, so the moves are making much more sense without any input from the morons in Tampa with Steinbrenner's ear. They just signed Cuban defector Juan Miranda today. Link So far this offseason: Signed Andy Pettitte (1 year + option/$16 Mil) Signed Kei Igawa (5 years/$20 Mil + $25 Mil Posting Fee) Traded Jaret Wright and cash to Baltimore for Chris Britton Traded Gary Sheffield to Detroit for Humberto Sanchez + two other minor league pitchers They also switched AAA affiliates from the Columbus Clippers to the Scranton-Wilkes Barre Yankees (Former Philadelphia affilate Red Barons)

    Best beatdowns

Summer of '98: The Nation and DX had a street fight match on Raw where the Rock and co. just kicked the everloving shit out of DX, specifically HHH, specifically using a ladder. This lead to the Rock/HHH ladder match at SummerSlam. WrestleMania X7: An obsessed Steve Austin wails The Rock repeatedly with a chair after kicking out of a stunner to win the championship. Royal Rumble 1999: Rock's viscious assault of Mick Foley has to be the best ever.

Exactly, just because this offseason money is being passed out like Halloween candy doesn't mean it will next year.

Or, he could ask for a trade instead and keep getting the big cash the next 3 years somewhere else rather than have to walk away from something like $60-75 million. I don't think he would get a three year deal for that kind of coin.

ESPN sucks, so do thread closers

I've seen it time and time again when they complain about Pro Bowl/All Star selections. If a name gets picked on a down year, it's because of the fan bias or whatever, and a more deserving but less known guy got screwed (Hypothetically, Griffey Jr over Vernon Wells). When the deserving guy gets in over the marquee name, they whine and say that X big name is more deserving and the all star game is for the fans anyway, so the popular guy should be there regardless. (One of their arguments in favor of Brady and TO yesterday) It would be the same if there were an NCAA football playoff system. In a 6 team bracket, they would complain about how #7 got left out. Today I saw them doing a fantasy tournament of their own, and the final four were Ohio State, Florida, Michigan, and LSU. How may experts did they need to come to that conclusion? Those are the top 4 teams as it is. At least have somebody go out on a limb.

They were complaining today how Brady and TO didn't make the Pro Bowl over Philip Rivers and Donald Driver. Yet if they were selected to the Pro Bowl, ESPN would be saying that they didn't deserve to make it and Rivers and Driver got screwed. You can't have it both ways.

I think that you could say Posada was the best player on his team in 2003, he had an MVP type season. He is a 4 time All Star (2000-2003) as well as a 4 time Silver Slugger (2000-2003) Just a .241 hitter in the postseason, but he does have 9 home runs. He hit .444 in the 2001 ALDS vs. Oakland, and if you remember he hit a solo home run in Game 3 (The Jeter game) for the 1-0 win. He also hit .333 in the 1998 World Series, .296 in the 2003 ALCS, and .500 in the 2006 ALDS. This from baseball-reference. Edit-> I continue with the Posada love by noting his role in one of the best Yankee game from last year, the big comeback against Texas in May. He blocked the plate on a huge collision with Mark Teixiera when the score was still seemingly out of reach, and then he hit the walk off home run with two outs in the ninth inning.

They're getting warmed up right now...give them a bit. Maybe this will take away Tony Romo screen time this week?

Comments that don't warrant a thread

I remember...Vince originally had himself at #30, and there was some stip that Austin couldn't touch Vince or he'd lose his Rumble spot, so HBK made them #1 and #2 so Austin could finally get his hands on him. I also found it funny and unsurprising that HHH entered #1 this year, and was in the final three.
