World Series: Tigers vs. Cardinals
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe replied to Annabelle's topic in Sports
Didn't the Yankees in 2001 hit around, perhaps even under .200 against Arizona? -
Monday is an off-day for the World Series.

Unbelievable

Are you really going to let your team's first 9 years of sub-mediocre existence stop you from enjoying the 2006 postseason? In just a few short years, some of your favorite players such as Carl Crawford, Rocco Baldelli, and Scott Kazmir will be in playoffs, even if the Rays won't be. (Aubrey Huff just missed this year) So cheer up already, since you probably saw it coming anyway. Just think it's only 5 months until pitchers and catchers report to spring training, when your defense of last place begins! Wade Boggs got his 3,000th career hit for you and don't act like it wasn't fun to have Sweet Lou manage for a few years there. He dyed his hair blonde! What more can you possibly want?

Who would have thought we'd have an Eagles game with 1,001 Terrell Owens/Donovan McNabb conversations throughout by the horrid announce team.

I'm headed to see Pearl Jam on June 1, and Warped Tour on August 6th, possibly Toad The Wet Sprocket in June, and I'm sure more will be announced later on in the summer that I'll check out. What about everyone else?

The Meintkiewicz ball has the usual little write-up tag next to it, and a neat little paragraph, and under that, is the caption On loan from Doug Meintkiewicz On a personal note on the matter of Meintkiewicz vs. Boston, I think it's really petty, childish and stupid of both of them. When it all comes down to it, honestly, it's a fucking ball. They got their first World Series trophy in 86 years, and they wage this rediculous war for the last-out ball. I'd say that not only does Doug (I'm not even gonna try and spell it again) have legit claim to it, but, isn't it property of Major League Baseball? Or at the very least, the St. Louis Cardinals? You know who has the last out ball of '96? Charlie Hayes, who also publicly stated that he was going to keep it. And nobody complained, because, well, it would be stupid to.

Another bullpen fiasco begins if this is a long delay.

The Hall was a blast. I got to see some killer stuff there, like the '96 World Series trophy, which is still there, Maris' 61st home run ball, Gehrig and DiMaggio's lockers, current stuff like Rivera's hat from his 400th save, Boggs' bat from his 3,000th hit, WBC stuff and everything else. The "locker room" which contains memorabilia of all 30 teams is really cool. Schilling's sock and Meintkeiwicz's ball reside in the post-season room for those wondering. The hall itself, has been changed a bit since I've been there last. The first 5 electees have been moved to the back, in a half circle area past all the other plaques, and every new member since I believe '99 is in that section, due to all the new, and future, elections.

OAO Raw Thread - August/14th/2006.

This is why I can't watch wrestling anymore. I haven't watched it since when Hogan came in the first time and was the champion for some reason in 2002. -

I saw the MNF highlight with the scoreboard in the lower center, and it indeed was horrible.

Dear Media: Please stop congratulating one Alex Rodriguez for his "clutch" sacrafice fly in the 7th inning of a tie game with the bases loaded. This ball went high, deep, and to the warning track. a) Mr. Rodriguez had no intentions of hitting a sacrafice fly, such hits don't send outfielders crashing into walls. b) Had it been Craig Wilson, Sal Fasano, or Melky Cabrera, would you be praising them as being the hero of the game? Or do you just want to tell those ungreatful Yankee fans "SEE? He is clutch~!" about your little media darling. c) I would prefer that Alex Rodriguez, the regular cleanup hitter (5th last night) and reigning leauge MVP would put the ball into play in that situation - perhaps line a double down left field line - and score two or three at once - than trying to be the hero he so desperately wants to be and jack a grand slam but fall short and fly out. (Remember, walkoff vs. Atlanta? Still getting booed, these things aren't working out for him) Sincerely, A person with two eyes.

Favorite Smipsons Couch Scene
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe replied to FroGG_NeaL's topic in Television & Film
The 138th episode spectacular where they show like 10 of them in a row to start the show. They all come to the couch with their heads on the wrong bodies, and they all pop them off and exchange heads. Snowball II is sleeping on the couch, and growls at the family as they run to sit down, so they all slowly back off. Someone already mentioned it, my favorite one is where the couch and the rest of the room keeps getting farther and farther away the more they run after it. -
At least you got the ball...right?

Randy goes a solid 7 innings, threw 101 pitches, struck out 5 (bringing his career total to 4,503) and gave up 2 runs for his 13th win. Now his ERA is under 5! Hitting stars of the game were Jeter, who was 3-5 with a homer (#10) and a double (#27), plus 2 RBI (#69 & 70) as chants of MVP filled Yankee Stadium, and Posada, who was 3-4 busting out of a career long 0-25 slump including a home run. Melky also was 3-4 with a run scored. Combine the win with a Boston loss, and it's a 2 game division lead.

Anyone else see the Top 3 Webgems per franchise they've been doing on BBTN? I'd like to nominate the following for the Yanks. Derek Jeter - The Play - 2001 Division Series Game 3, Yanks win 1-0, win come from behind in the series to win 3-2, then beat 116 win Seattle, and make it to the 9th inning of the 7th game of the World Series Derek Jeter - Crowd dive featuring bloody face - 7/1/04 vs. Boston, 12th inning, Yanks win in 13 innings and cap a sweep. Jeter leaves the game, A-Rod bumps over to short, Sheffield plays 3rd. Paul O'Neill - Wall catch closes 1-0 Win - 1996 World Series Game 5 - Runner on 3rd, Luis Polonia has a long, hard, loud fly out to the warning track and O'Neill slaps the wall in celebration in the last game ever at Fulton County Stadium.

I'm not in driving distance either, it'll probably be a 5 or 6 hour drive. On a semi-simlar topic, how many games has everyone been to this year so far? I've been to three (Yankees obviously) May 27, a 15-4 win over KC, June 27, a 5-2 loss to Atlanta, and July 30, a 4-2 win over Tampa, which, somewhere around the 6th or 7th inning, they aquired Bobby Abreu. Lots of people in my section were buzzing about it.
