I'm going to the Yanks/Rays game on Sunday. My 3rd game of the year so far.
-
I'm slowly climbing the rankings in Year 3, currently at #14.
-
Basically, getting RBIs is the most important thing. Except RBIs are meaningless.
-
Rather than repeatedly bash your head against a cinderblock tonight, just watch the Cards/Cubs game on ESPN instead. With your party hosts....Chris Berman and Joe Morgan.
-
Cano is named after Jackie Robinson.
-
If the most important aspect of hitting is to get on base for the next guy to knock you in, then doesn't that make the RBI an important statistic?
-
I have a few 80 OT's that can become 74 FBs, which I plan to switch one during the offseason.

- I don't want them to give up Philip Hughes. - If they do give up Hughes, it should be for a starting pitcher. Or a really good 8th inning guy, which I don't think is avalible. Farnsworth sucks, Proctor is over worked, and it doesn't seem like Dotel is ever going to show up. - Abreu is signed to huge money through next year, and will probably want his option for '08 picked up as part of the deal. I am hoping the team is starting to phase out these huge deals and start letting some of the guys from within (Melky...) get a fair shot. It's not that they couldn't use a hitter of Abreu's caliber, because anybody certainly could. However, right now with the lineup that they already have, they are the Wild Card leaders and 1 1/2 back of Boston in the division. Hitting won't get you all that far in the playoffs, as they have shown for the last several post seasons. I believe that they are among the league leading teams in several if not most offensive categories, without Sheffield, Matsui, Cano, and an "A-Rod year" from the 3rd baseman. The rotation, on the other hand, is Mussina, who gives you a good outing, Wang, who is very solid, and Randy has picked it up of late. Wright and Ponson/Wilson/Chacon have been downright dreadful, and I think in August when they play Boston for a 5 game series they might need more than 2 good starts and an ok-ish one, and then punting the other two.

I really hope the Yankees don't get Bobby Abreu.

Where do all of your stats come from?

Here's some quick results from my Dynasty thus far: Rutgers Scarlet Knights (Big East) Year 1: 11-2 (6-1) Conference Champions Bowl: Orange Bowl 55-52 OT win vs. Notre Dame National Rank: #16 Awards: Lombardi - DE 35 Returner of the Year - WR 83 TE of the Year - Dallas Clark National Champion: Florida Heisman: Jeff Smarzdija (ND) Year 2: 12-1 (7-0) Conference Champions Bowl: Orange Bowl 24-10 win vs. Miami National Rank: #13 Awards: Heisman/Maxwell/Walker: Raymell Rice (RB) Lombardi/Bednarik: Jamall Westerman (DE) Groza: Jeremy Ito (PK) Returner of the Year: Tiquan Underwood (WR) Coach of the Year: Myself. National Champion: USC Year 3: 4-0 (1-0) National Rank: #22 Next Game: @ West Virginia Once again, recruiting in the off season of year 2 was very frustrating, getting just 8 new players. However, I stocked my O-Line with some very good freshman. My D is playing great so far, the front 7 are nasty run-stuffers including two All-American DE's and a LB, and the secondary is the best unit on my team. One thing that really boggled my mind was that after the spring game, I chose my Offensive and Defensive Impact Players, my starting QB (86 OVR) and my speedy CB/KR. So the CPU picks the final one and who does it choose? My BACKUP QB (85 OVR). My third impact player doesn't see the field. I also had an 86 overall walk-on WR during the spring game that really caught my attention, and then he wasn't on my roster in the fall.

With Rutgers in Year 2, I'm 5-1 and finally cracked the national rankings at #25 here in Week 8. My home crowds have been getting decent lately, with roars around 45 dB, about double what it was in the first season. Opposing QBs are actually having trouble with it, which is a plus. I have 3 blue chip prospects coming for their official visits in Week 9, and hopefully they all commit as I desperately will need them for year 3, at C, RT, and WR. My RB Raymell Rice is leading the nation in rushing and TD's, and is the leading Heisman candidate. He makes up like 185% of my offensive gameplan, and averages over 200 yards a game. My QB is a true freshman who is purely a damage control player in his first season. He's a nice option QB with a speed rating of 76, and works great with Rice. His arm isn't terrific, but he gets the job done. He only has 7 TDs, but I don't throw all that much, and when I do, it's not in the red zone. My backup QB is very fast, and as a junior, rarely sees the field. Hopefully over the off season I can convert him into a WR/DB/KR. (By the way, anyone know how to actually do this?)

Didn't the Jets sign him last year for a 7 year deal? I don't put any stock in NFL contracts whatsoever.

In Year 1 with Rutgers, I go 11-2, beat West Virginia on the road in the last week of the regular season to win the Big East conference, and then beat Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl in OT, and my prestige goes from ** to ***. I lost like half of my team to graduation, and now with shitty prestige I was only able to get 9 new players in the off season and the rest of the roster was filled in with walkons, so I basically have to start all over again in year 2. Overall, though, great game. It's a blast to play solo or against a friend.

Reggie Bush may hold out on the Saints. Saw this in an article on another forum today, but I forgot the source. I'm sure we'll hear more about it soon.

You-know-who went 0-4 with 4 K's today.

ESPN sucks, so do thread closers

These constant My Wish segments are nausiating. They have been showing them all week, on every show on the 3 networks (1/2/News) several times a day. They just love to pat themselves on the back, and make sure we all know how great they all are for their "charitable" work. -
He sucks.

And Brandon Teirney was just on the radio the other day on his show pimping the shit of Mobile ESPN. "Not to sound like a schill, but..." It was like 10 minutes on how awesome it is. -
My fantasy team is starting to hurt post-AS break, as Pedro remains on the DL, and now Shea Hillenbrand is without a team.
