They have very good young developing starters like Bonderman, Maroth, and Verlander, and non of them has had to deal with any pressure since a) there hasn't been any to begin with and b) the Rogers signing added a veteran and a guy who could hold down the fort at the top of the rotation till one of those guys fully becomes a #1. I didn't like it for them at first, but it's worked out.

Wohlers bounced around after that, I think he may have been in Cleveland at one point. He pitched for the Yankees in 2002 -

Not only did that home run basically win them the World Series, but it also pretty much ended the career of Mark Wohlers, as well, no? Possibly my favorite moment in Yankee history. I loved that game. -

That's awful...without him, Atlanta has those rings. -
I was at the mall earlier, and saw them selling Leinart, Young, and Bush (#25) jerseys in two different stores.

Game of the year as far as I'm concerned. I am currently taping the encore on YES as we speak. Those four and Doc Gooden. That rotation wasn't outstanding but had no weaknesses once the Yanks shored up their fifth starter situation by trading for Cone. This version has a real problem with depth, and that puts them behind. David Cone: A) Was aquired by the Yankees in 1995, not '96, and B) Only had 11 starts in 1996, due to his anyurism, although he pitched in the most important game in nearly two decades up to that point, Game 3 of the World Series. Andy Pettitte was the ace of that staff, going 21-8 with a 3.87 ERA and finishing second in the Cy Young voting to Pat Hentgen. Cone's spot in the rotation was pretty much patched together with guys like Ramiro Mendoza, Scott Kamieniecki, and Brian Boehringer. Well, Bernie is seen as a pretty special player by Yankee fans. The place goes crazy every time he comes to bat, forget when he homers. (Tonight was his 3rd of the year)

I totally believe it. Those two think they are so high-and-fucking-mighty its rediculous, like they are the sports police or something, so you better not piss them off.

The 'News box has been full of Pujols!Pujols!Pujols! for the last several days. Haven't seen any BARRY!!!! stuff since Albert got hurt. -
Anyone have the order? Also, how many rounds does it go? Mike Piazza was drafted in like the 60-something round I think, which is just rediculous.
-
Hopefully not, as it seems Cashman has had Steiny's ear more than the Tampa regime for the past year or two.
-
Remember when they said Brandon Claussen was untouchable and then flipped him for Aaron Boone?
-
Duncan and Hughes will be in any and all trade talk, I can tell you that.

Cool, so it's more than a rumor. Thanks.

Hey al, a buddy of mine from the area said that the Columbus Clippers (Yankees AAA) are moving to the Scranton/Wilkes area. Any truth to that?
-
They said he'll be day-to-day near the end of the game.
-
Thankfully, however, I started Javy Lopez as my fantasy catcher today, and he has 2 homers and 4 RBIs already.

Cano's not going anywhere. That Bonds fellow isn't on the east coast either, but he gets quite a share of their attention, doesn't he?

i just saw pearl jam for the first time in 6 years
TheDevilAndGodAreRagingInsideMe replied to godthedog's topic in Music
I went to the first Meadowlands show (6/1) too. It was fucking awesome. One of the last songs they did was a Who cover of Teenage Wasteland. The crowd was really, really into the whole set which lasted over 2 hours. I've never been to that arena so packed before, or so loud and crazy. Pearl Jam notoriously one of the best live acts around, and their fans are awesome. -
El Capitano had not one but two lead changing RBI tonight, saving Farnsy's ass in the process.
-
Thanks. But what is the point of that? Why not just say it's for $12M.
-
Can someone explain what a prorated contract is? They (TV/Radio) keep saying that Clemens' contract is $22 million, prorated, but don't elaborate.

Reason 5427: "Chasing Aaron" ...and while I'm on it, I finally caught Bonds on Bonds for the first time yesterday. What a horrible, horrible show. The fact that they are trying to show him as some kind of a sympathetic character is mind blowing, yet, 100% believable considering the network.
