I'd like to see a Hip Hop-esqe tour consisting of all the hip-hop acts I havn't seen yet that I really want to... Saul Williams, The Roots, Slum Village, Latyrx, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Cunning Linguists, RJD2, Swollen Members come to mind right now... I'm sure theres a shitload I'm neglecting to mention.

Yup.

A... sexy relationship?

I saw Incubus open for Pantera and Black Sabbath. In retrospect it seems like a really weird opening group, but they didn't seem all that out of place at the time. They pretty much only played music that fit the tone of the two bands that followed them... as well as some weird bongo-drum laced jam session.

Theres also that option of packaging SAR and Van Exel together in a trade. Ray Allen and a backup center out of Seattle maybe? I don't know how long it will be until that tall Korean guy is ready for action and Theo Ratliff needs someone to come off the bench behind him every now and then.

What's the loudest band you've ever seen live.
Jorge Gorgeous replied to Giuseppe Zangara's topic in Music
Fuck... I love Dalek, that'd be awesome to see live, but I don't anticipate seeing that act in Portland, OR anytime soon. The loudest for me was probably Slipknot at this huge rock festival here like, 4 or 5 years ago. Slayer, Sevendust, Sepultera and a bunch of other bands were there too... but I found myself pushed up against some speakers when Slipknot went on... I honestly feared for my sense of hearing, and it didn't return to normal for a day or so. When I was on-stage filming The All-American Rejects it was pretty loud too, but I was right by the drum set for that. -
It reminds me of "Hero's Quest: So You Want to be a Hero?" Fuck I loved that game.

Kevin Bacon in Sleepers... oh boy...

In no real order... -Goodfellas -Rounders -Good Will Hunting -Lord of the Rings trilogy (I consider this one movie, its just one big continuous story as opposed to say... Rocky, or Star Wars where you have story missing between the movies) -Fiddler on the Roof As far as Godfather goes, what I remember, I loved... but I tried to pull one of those "WATCH ALL 3 BACK TO BACK TO BACK" things with some friends, and ended up not remembering any of them very well.

... I can understand not liking football players, but not respecting football players is reeeaaaal dumb. These guys go through the most strenuous conditioning to play the most punishing sport for the shortest career and their money isn't even guarenteed.

Where the hell did all this 'Steven Jackson is the next Emmitt, Payton, etc' come from? I guess no one remembers the games against the Washington schools last year, neither one known for being a defensive juggernaut, and will feature only Tank Johnson in the NFL this year and Isaac Brown/D.D. Acholonu (though why no one picked up Tai Tupai is a bit baffling) competing for practice squad spots, where he did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Hell Jones was partly responsible for ND coming back and beating Wazzu last year. I'd give him the nod on that alone. I think it has a lot to do with Jackson's pedigree. Hes built like a fucking tank and is alarmingly fast, not to mention quick. I don't think hes an Emmit/Payton style runner... but he could defenitely be another Ricky Williams type back.

Thats too bad, I always hated the Rams but I liked Faulk. This brings me to a debate I had with a couple of friends of mine... I said Marshall Faulk is the greatest recieving back of all time, he countered with Larry Center of the Buffalo Bills/host of other teams... any opinions on that either way?

I'm down with the polished sound, I think some of their older songs lost something in how rough they were. A majority of their older stuff fit in well with the rough sound, but some of it could have used the production on the new CD. If you want a reaaaaal good Modest Mouse song listen to The Fruit That Ate Itself, its my personal favorite.

Chess aint no sport fag! Put this somewhere else, woooo! Seriously though, wouldn't the statuete of limitations run out on something as ridiculous as playing an illegal chess match by now?

BITCH PLEASE... I dominated our match-ups. Sure, you had some controller-smashingly good victories peppered amongst our frays, but Chance Harridge and the Air Force Falcons owned your Island Ass.

My only complaint thus far was how much the composure stat affects plays. Chris Leak should be able to complete an 8 yard out, whether hes shaken up or not.

I think a major problem is the pursuit of a quick-fix. Deep economic problems inspire people to try and find solutions that usually lay outside the boundaries of sound logic or probability. Whether it be such deplorable actions as selling drugs, petty theft or prositution or such idealistic pipe dreams as a career in rap music or athletics. The culture and economics of the situation are such that the time and hardwork that go into getting into college are traded for some kind of quick fix. It isn't only in lower-class black America, either. It exists amongst all races, and amongst all class levels - whether its some black kid who thinks hes going to get a record deal or some white kid taking a $12/hr job instead of going to college because it seems like a lot of money at the time. All Cosby was doing was addressing these problems amongst his own racial community, and we should all be so lucky.

Calling the man a "babykiller" and a "murderer" is ridiculous, and the people who said it are juvenile and ignorant as to where they should direct their displeasure with the war and the administration behind the war. That being said, the soldier himself is ignorant if he expected to march in a 4th of July parade, holding a pro-Bush sign, in such a historicly and fiercely liberal town. Despite the comments that were flung like so much monkey shit in the man's direction, I'm sure the protestors were far more concerned with the 'For Bush' part of the sign than they were with the 'veterans.'

Do the Beavers play in Oregon then? Considering they are the OREGON STATE Beavers, yes. Hold on there. There is also a baseball team called the Portland Beavers. They are the AAA affiliate of the San Diego Padres. Yeah, we've got the AAA Beavers... and the Portland Timbers, some minor league soccer team and our beloved Portland Winter Hawks, proud producer of Adam Deadmarsh and Cam Neely, who play hockey in the WHL... but I thought we were just talking the bigs, here.

THIS is the gospel... except I think Will Ferrel is hillarious. GOULET.

Mel Gibson is great, and I think he fits into the Legend format... the only pitfall I can see for him is if he lets his religious zealotry overtake him. The Passion, for all of it's success, turned a lot of people off on the whole Mel Gibson tip. If he stays away from the whole Charlton Heston/NRA type thing I think he could end up a legend. Tom Hanks is a legend, for sure, but not in the same vein as Pacino, Brando, DeNiro. Hanks is regarded more as a cute actor than the previously mentioned legends. Despite his roles in the violent Saving Private Ryan and the emotionally wrenching Philadelphia, theres just something about Tom Hanks that comes off as "cute." Thats not to say that Hanks isn't great, I like him a lot more than Brando and hes certainly as good, if not better, an actor as Pacino and DeNiro.

The one album you own that most others don't.

Dalek - From the Filthy Tongues of Gods and Griots Its like Hip-Hop and industrial and ambient all mixed up and messed up. I love it and would recomend it to any true hip-hop fan. The Sea and Cake - The Sea and Cake I'll just post the allmusic review "The Sea and Cake's buoyant debut is a breath of fresh air, an utterly distinctive and innovative work which expands the scope of frontman Sam Prekop's work in the great Shrimp Boat to incorporate a new fascination with Afro-Caribbean rhythms and textures. Recorded by Brad Wood, the album simply glows — Prekop's dry vocals and free-associative lyrics skip along a shimmering and lushly pastoral backdrop which nimbly fuses pop, soul, jazz and even prog rock; tracks like "Jacking the Ball," "Flat Lay the Water," and "Showboat Angel" are as seductive as they are elusive." — Jason Ankeny -
Aftermath is doing pretty good.
