Unchained Melody - Rightchous (Butchered the spelling) Brothers

Right now, as I watch the Pistons and the Pacers, I have to say my home sweet home, Portland, OR is pretty tortured. The Blazers just missed the playoffs for the first time in 22 years, the guy we drafted in 96 is now an MVP candidate for another team, Rasheed decides he wants to play hard now that hes gone, we've had to deal with a slew of criminals on our basketball team, that 14 point 4th quarter comeback the Lakers put on us to win their first championship in the Kobe/Shaq era, the Oregon Ducks getting fucked out of the national championship game by the BCS (Fuck the Cornhuskers), we produced Tanya Harding, we can't get any other professional teams even though we shoe up en masse to Trailblazer games (this year not included) - and its not like we don't have rich guys living here, Paul Allen, Phil Knight anyone? We have ONE championship in the history of our city, and that was in 1977. We've only got one team, so I don't think we really qualifiy, but its not easy, either.

I didn't see the awards, but it would make sense that he did "Happy People" because its the new single hes trying to push. Hope that helps.

Football: It was Tony Siragusa up until his recent retirement, now there no clear favorite but I love Joey Harrington and Warren Sapp Baseball: All-time, Don Mattingly. Hes the reason I got into baseball when I was a kid. Seeing him sitting there on the Yankee bench again makes me smile. My favorite current player is Jeter. Basketball: My favorite basketball player ever is actually 6 basketball players... Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, Buck Williams, Jerome Kersey, Kevin Duckworth and Cliff Robinson - the Rip City Trailblazers. In Portland, in the early 90s, they were kind of like the Beatles - everyone had a favorite. My personal favorite was Kevin Duckworth. They used to practice at the Mittleman Jewish Community Center, which is where I went to Pre-School and Kindergarten, and Duckworth gave me a piggyback ride down to class. Hockey: Favorte ever? Mark Messier. Favorite now? SATAN. Mostly because I want his jersey.

Wow... there are some amazingly ignorant fucking assholes posting in this thread. I'm not some P.C. hippy with his head up his ass, but I know that being fat isn't easy. People judge you more often, and more harshly, than they judge others, theres a whole slew of stereotypes and U.S. society isn't exactly modeled for your pleasure. (And it IS the society, its not some fucking built-in alarm thats geneticly implanted. Fat is considered beautiful in a number of cultures across the globe, this is also based on society.) The fact is, this is an image-obsessed society - fat people have a hard time, ugly people have a hard time, short people, bald people, etc. etc. etc. and society probably isn't going to change. Netslob - if you're going to lose weight, you have to do it for yourself. You can't do it to conform to society, you can't do it to impress some girl, you can't do it because some fucking shmuck on a wrestling forum thinks you're a bad person because of it. If you go about it like this, you're going to fizzle out and end up right back where you were, if not worse off. The fact is, being fat IS your choice, but its going to kill you. It seems like you've realized this and you're trying to do something about it. As far as girls go - just be confident in yourself. Weight matters a little, but its FAR from the biggest factor; a six-pack alone will not get a girl into bed with you. Senior year of high school, I weighed 350 pounds, I had a girlfriend who was 120 pounds after a big meal. Our personalities meshed, we had fun together, she supported me at football games and she was a good looking girl (by anyone's standards, but most importantly, by mine.) Since then, I've had a variety of experiences with girls - "fat" ones, "skinny" ones, "athletic" ones, blondes, brunettes, redheads, all while I watch "normal" people strike-out with the same girls. You just need to get to a place where you're comfortable with who you are - it sounds like I'm a fucking hippy, and it sounds like some new-age bullshit, but you really do need to "love yourself" before anyone else can love you... whether it be in the traditional sense or in the "blowing you and then making you a sandwich" sense. Don't listen to all the shit-talkers in this thread, they'll never know what its like to go through what you go through, not even other fat people will, because its your experience - not mine, not Cancer Marney's, not anyones. Look at your computer moniter, tell all the nay-sayers to fuck-off, and do whatever it takes to get happy. Thats my advice, anyway.

Army used to be a powerhouse in college football but I dont think we'll ever see a "great" season out of them again. Last season they were the first 1A team to go 0-12, and who wants to go to a military academy when they could go to Miami?

Portland Trail Blazers - Giving up 14 point lead to LA in the 4th quarter of game 7 ofe Western Conference Championships... and thus, a championship.
-
... Guns n Roses, circa Appetite for Destruction, are the shit. They even had some good songs on Use Your Illusion... if saying the O.G. GnR is the worst band you're full of SHIT. If you mean the new lineup with Buckethead playing guitar and Axl being the only remanent from the old band, yeah, I could definitely see that.

Its like picking between Cancer and AIDS, man.
-
Best idea ever. Seriously.

Stanford is "The Cardinal"... that being "Cardinal" the shade of red, not "Cardinal" the bird.
-
Portland Trailblazers - Its not one particular guy, but the Rip City team with Clyde Drexler, Terry Porter, Jerome Kersey, Buck Williams, Kevin Duckworth and Cliff Robinson will forever be "The Blazers" to me. New York Yankees - Joe Torre. It was a tight one between Torre and Mattingly - I came up with Mattingly, but Torre's face scrunched up, looking mildly disgusted no matter the circumstance is an indelible image in my mind. A preloaded fuck you to all the "WHAT ABOUT MANTLE AND RUTH AND GEHRIG OMG!!!!11!1!one!1" this is one player (or coach) that *I* associate with a team. University of Oregon football - Joey Harrington... with Igor Olshansky's biceps a close second U of O basketball - The Lukes - Jackson and Ridnour Miami Dolphins - #13
-
Noway, man. Those sideburns are first ballot... Mattingly is holding THEM back.
-
No, no, too early to tell, and no. C'mon, Mattingly was a Yankee his whole career and never got a ring. That should absolutely be mentioned in the hall of fame.
-
And the topic of that historic interview will forever remain a mystery...

I'd like to sit down with Michael Jordan. Not for any scandelous reasons, hes just incredibly engaging and seems like he'd be fun to talk to. I'd also like to sit down with Warren Sapp and Tony Siragusa, have some beer, and watch a football game - I love The Goose and Warren Sapp would be full of valuable... we'll call it "insight."

Soccer players and boxers? Mentioned in the the UNITED STATES? You HAVE been living under a rock. First off... if people are talking about boxing anywhere, its in America, you just have to look for it harder now than you did 30 or 40 years ago. Lennox Lewis got tons of face time as did Vitali and Wladimir Klitscho(I spelled that WAAAY wrong), the only Americans who get the same amount of chatter in boxing are Jones and Tyson (if you still want to call him a boxer.) As far as Pele' goes, he got his due back when he was playing and Freddy Adu is recieving a fair amount of press now. Pele definitely wasn't American, and Adu wasn't born here. I fail to see the meat in your argument that foreign born athletes don't get any attention here in America. Tim Duncan isn't American, he seems to get a lot of press... Gagne isn't American... Steve Nash, Ichiro Suzuki, Albert Pujols, Tony Parker, Yao Ming, Jarome Iginla, Wayne Gretzky, Vlad Guerrero, Sammy Sosa, Manny Ramirez, Miguel Tejada, Pedro Martinez... I don't think I need to continue. So as far as goes... you're wrong.

Sheff could go too, as well as Kenny Lofton. Giambi still has a lot of baseball infront of him and very well play himself in as well. Also... Don Mattingly is their hitting coach... I loves me some Don Mattingly.

Bo Jackson's athletic ability was unquestionable. You can't be an All-Star in two sports and not be one amazing athlete. Vick is a good QB. He's not even the BEST QB in the NFL. -=Mike Its not the "Best Quarterback" competition, however. Quarterbacking has a lot to do with athletic ability, yes, but theres also a myriad of mental aspects involved. To say that Michael Vick is a creation of the media and Lance Armstrong isn't is ignorant, in my opinion. Armstrong has littered magazine covers, ESPN, the internet, etc... now I may be wrong, but those are all mediums of the media. You know why Armstrong is a greater creation of the media than Mike Vick will ever be? Because Americans, as a whole, don't give a shit about professional cycling, they don't give a shit about the Tour de France and yet - I can go ask my mom who Lance Armstrong is, and she could tell me. Doesn't take away from his physical prowess, but homeboy is a media darling if I've ever heard of one.

My mommy and daddy want me to pay out the ass for their social security benefits when I'm their age, they vote Republican! All joking aside though, more power to you for going out and doing something rather than just sitting around and talking about it. I've always wanted to start a cafe'press site but I lack both creativity and humor. If you're just looking for some pre-made shirts, t-shirt hell is pretty cool. I'm not sure of the exact website, just google it, it'll pop up.

I dont think Saddam should be the standard we follow for world affairs, with all due respect.

J.R. Rider... I guess his life as a whole. Randy Moss driving fifteen feet with a meter maid sitting on the hood of his car.

03/04 Lakers have got the four players and a coach... which sparks a question in my mind, which team out there has the most Championship rings between their starting 5... or 11... or 9, whichever.
