RVD was having his best matches from July-December 2001...his early WWF work blew away anything he did in ECW, IMO. I would of liked to see more matches from that time frame. Other than that, the DVD looks pretty good, but why are they releasing it during the weakest push of his WWE career?

ECW facts, tidbits, and stuff people forgot
Jericho2000Mark replied to JoeDirt's topic in General Wrestling
I believe he injured himself a couple days prior to the show. -
Dusty booked the World Champion weaker than the entire Main Event and Upper-Mid Card.

So can we tell who the future of the WWE is yet?
Jericho2000Mark replied to The Mandarin's topic in The WWE Folder
No one on WWE's current roster really stands out like Austin in '96-97 and Rock in '98. Cena looked promising a year ago, but hasn't done anything since. Orton is a disaster and comes across as a glorified Mid-Carder. I disagree...Orton looks like a boy band member or a male model, not someone who could kick your ass. The only match of the four you listed with any potential drawing power is probably Triple H-Cena. -
Your entire booking throughout 1992 is excellent. IMO, you should of kept the angle at WM X where Owen defeated Bret to kick off the show, only for Bret to capture the Title at the end. As great as Warrior-Savage was, I feel Hogan-Warrior 2 would of drawn more as the Main Event for WM VII.

?!?!?!?! I guess him overrating complete shit isn't such a new trend afterall. Yeah, and his rating for the three way before Raven-Funk was worse. Both were your typical ECW garbage brawls. "November To Remember ’98: Blue Meanie and Super Nova v Danny Doring and Amish Roadkill: DUD Tommy Rogers v Tracy Smothers: *1/4 Lance Storm v Jerry Lynn: **3/4 Masato Tanaka and Balls Mahoney v The Dudley’s: *3/4 Jake Roberts and Tommy Dreamer v Justin Credible and Jack Victory: 1/4* Sabu, Rob Van Dam and Taz v Shane Douglas, Bam Bam Bigelow and Chris Candido: 1/2*" Without question, the worst PPV I've ever seen. It also has the distinction of having the worst Terry Funk promo EVER... He must of snorted a few lines with Jake(and possibly Heyman) before the show, because he rambled on incoherently for what must of been half an hour. I hadn't a clue what he was trying to say until Dreamer came out. The majority of matches were absolute clusterfucks, it looks as if Heyman was trying to cram as much shit into the show as possible. There wasn't one match I would rate above average, and I like ECW...

Any match between Shane Douglas and Pitbull 2. Pitbull no-sells a million weapon shots but falls victim to the Belly To Belly of Illogical Doom... Jerry Lynn rolling up RVD immidiately after being hit with the Five Star, at Hardcore Heaven '99.

WWE News & Notes from the 11/15 Observer
Jericho2000Mark replied to QuestionMan's topic in The WWE Folder
Thanks for the Observer tidbits, I really appreciate it. -
Road Dogg's commentary saved that match. If you've seen one Triple H-HBK match, you've seen them all. They work the same boring garbage brawl every time, littered with the same recycled spots from their first bout at Summerslam(over two years ago...). I could sit through a Randy Orton-Kane Ironman match before watching another brawl between those two boring shidiots.

Triple H-Michaels has the distinction of being both.
-
Either Triple H-Hogan at Backlash '02 or The first final encounter, "Oversell in a Cell"(HHH vs HBK). Honorable mention... Triple H-Steiner 2 at NWO '03-At least the first was slightly comical, if only to hear the crowd turn on Steiner after falling on his ass trying to suplex Triple H. While not as awful as the first, this was the rematch NOBODY wanted to see...the crowd was dead and the match was more plodding and boring than the original.

Don't they mean comped out? Unless most of the people bought tickets right before the event...I heard a couple days ago they were having trouble selling tickets for the show.

Actually, Hogan became the biggest draw in wrestling before Rocky 3 was released. I would propose they take better care of the Mid-Card, by replacing the green heatless OVW call-ups(Jindrak, Reigns, Bashams, Heidenrich, Grenier) with established talent the company already has, but aren't using(Rhyno, Snow, Richards, Morley). I wouldn't call up as many wrestlers from OVW...so when someone new debuts, it actually means something. Only the wrestlers who are ready for television and at least have a good idea of how to work, would be called up. For developmental talent, I would go for legit atheletes(MMA, college wrestling, Football) rather than bodybuilders or models. As some of the best talent developed by WWE's developmental system have had strong atheletic backgrounds(Rock, Brock, Angle, WGTT, etc...). Any worker under contract, starting out on television, would get a fair chance at getting over, regardless of their look or ability. By covering their weaknesses and playing up their strengths. As for who to push, I would factor in merch sales, heat and segment numbers...basically who the fans would pay to see most, then push the wrestlers accordingly. I would propose they make the outcomes of matches less predictable... As in not having every match end with a wrestler's finisher, a fluke roll-up or a screwjob. They could use the in-ring 10 count rule or the 5 count when someone stands on a turnbuckle, to end a match some time. Or have someone like Benoit win a match with the triple germans or Northern lights suplex, moves that aren't exactly finishers but are still believable enough to finish a match. Or have someone pull out a move that looks devastating, but they rarely use, to finish a match(like when Kid Kash beat Sonjay Dutt with a top turnbuckle DDT in their match a year ago). This would add more supense to matches, as the near-falls would be more effective...not just when someone kicks out of a finisher.

Fire: Jindrak, Cade, Tomko, Heidenrich, Danny Basham, Holly, Reigns, Kenzo, Grenier, Fertig, Bradshaw, Rodney Mack, Jazz, Spike Dudley & The Dudley Boyz Hire/Re-Hire: SD: Low-Ki(despite the WWE limitations, his unique style and look would easily get him over), Juventud Guerrera & Hector Garza(they need more hispanic wrestlers to draw back that demographic), Chris Sabin, Abyss, Chuck Palumbo & Sean O'Haire(I would replace Jindrak and Reigns with these two, in "Anglelution") Raw: Teddy Hart(so many possibilities), Carl Ouelette(his short stint as "X" in TNA impressed me, I would replace Grenier with him in La Resistance or form a new Hart Foundation with Ted Hart), Ron Killings, Kanyon, A-Train(when he recovers from his injury)

No, 1999 was the year of the Rock, 2000 was the HHH show. Hell, even when Rock had the belt, the main storylines still revoved around HHH. Biggest draw? He obviously wasn't the biggest draw because the ratings and buyrates went down as soon as Triple H lost the title. HHH won by DQ at JD. Before that, they were tied. Triple H never got a decisive victory over him either. So how does he look weaker? Triple H won the two big matches, and beat The Rock in their final singles match during the fued...he got the best of him. Fully Loaded 2000, when Rock was Champ, drew bigger buys than KOTR a month earlier when Triple H was holding the Title. Every PPV during Rock's second reign in 2000 drew great buys, it wasn't until Survivor Series 00(headlined by Triple H-Austin, BTW) that the buyrates started going down. The ratings didn't start going down until they moved to TNN and the show revolved around Austin again. 1999 was the year of Austin... Rock didn't even become the top star until the fall.

2000 was not the year of Triple H, it was the year of The Rock...he was the biggest draw and star in the company, by far. Yet, like you said, he lost the two big matches with Triple H and never beat him decisively(heck, Triple H's victory at JD 2000 was cleaner than either of Rock's)...making him look weaker in the eyes of the fans(also since Austin before him, overcame all the odds on his own), which obviously hurt his momentum. When Austin was hot, he ALWAYS came out the winner in his fueds. So why should it have been any different with The Rock in 2000...especially at a time when he was coming close to reaching Austin's 98-99 levels? Triple H was never going to reach that level, and he already had enough cred from retiring Foley and going over most of the roster since summer '99. Personally, I think Rock should have won at Mania, jobbed at BackLash when Austin's interference backfired(slowly building to Rock-Austin at the next year's Mania) and win the IronMan match at Judgment Day...then drop the Title to Jericho at SummerSlam, in a battle between the two most popular faces in the company(at the time). I also agree with whoever said they missed the boat with a second Rock-Austin rematch. When The Rock returned in summer '01, everyone wanted to see him finally get his big win over Austin, and the ratings were excellent in the weeks after his return up until his fued with Booker began...when the fans realized there wasn't going to be another Rock-Austin match. I think that also hurt his momentum a bit.

Various spoilers, reports and stuff for this week
Jericho2000Mark replied to a topic in The WWE Folder
Bucci = Nova. Well, shit, no wonder they haven't called him up yet. I liked him in ECW, but seriously, when working the WWE style, he's remarkably underwhelming. I thought I was watching a couple of rookies out there. He did have some charisma, though. Heh. I knew the name sounded familiar. Is it safe to say the once innovative Nova is now just another Dropkick-Crossbody machine? -
It looks like they added an episode of Velocity to fill the card...

Might as well ask this in here... What's the deal between TNA and DDP? I heard his name pop up on a few Indy results lately, and now that hes wrestling again, does TNA have any interest in bringing him in? Or is the fact that he's risking paralysis every time he steps into the ring, a chance TNA isn't willing to take? Thanks.

Didn't Hardy show up really late, and they were just about ready to replace him? Not a good sign.

So Kane's (most likely) the Father

Lita gets an abortion, but turns heel by revealing that it was Matt's baby and she knew all along. -
Well these didn't happen in a wrestling ring, but... Bossman killing Al Snow's dog, Pepper, and making him eat it. Just about everything Bossman did during his fued with Big Show. EDIT: Damn, beat me to it...

What?! Hardy's punches are worse than RVD's! He punches like a 9 year old girl... He's probably one of the worst brawlers in all of wrestling. The only thing he has going for him(other than the legions of toothless fat chicks and 13 year old Yard Tards who worship the ground he walks on) ARE his spots, which aren't that impressive when compared to the likes of Styles, Ki, Red, Daniels, Skipper, Sabin and most of the X Division.

And poster.

Very. They are the most consistent, and probably the Top two workers in TNA. When was the last time either of them had a bad, or even boring match?
