    2005 Hall of Fame

they have to induct Gene Okerlund and Mr. Fuji I feel. Other definite candidates need to be Bruno Sammartino and Bob Backlund, but as someone said it could be difficult to get them to appear. Also I'm surprised Tony Garea hasn't been inducted yet as I'm sure he still works for WWE as a road agent

    The Old School questions thread

Tunney stepped down just before Summerslam 1995, and Monsoon was named interim President. After Monsoon got attacked by Vader, Roddy Piper was brought in as his replacement. I think he disappeared after WM XII, and I think the President/Commissionership slot stayed vacant until Sgt was introduced the night after SummerSlam 1997. Monsoon appeared at SummerSlam 97 as the President. (what was it the Million Dollar Chance or something?) Monsoon was still mentioned as President into 98 as I am sure he was still doing commentary for UK versions of Superstars or Metal, and the President title was just a name, but he didn't have an on-air authority position on TV or anything

Question about the WM 2000 bonus disc

was the second disc of WM2000 the same one released with the WrestleMania Insider's Story book?

not been a WCW fan i'm not sure but I do remember seeing clips of a show held outdoors (although IIRC WCW did quite a few of those?)

    RVD DVD??

I got this e-mail today from Silver vision (which is in the UK) and they mentioned this which I found interesting: Get The Best of Confidential DVD free when you preorder Survivor Series 2004 DVD for the new low price of GBP 13.99 (€21.00). Starting with Survivor Series 2004, single disc PPVs are reduced by GBP 1.00. Personality titles such as the upcoming Rob Van Dam DVD will also be available to preorder at GBP 12.99 (€20.00). Anyone know more specifics about this?

    The Old School questions thread

Orndorff, was a face at that time, so no explanation required by the WWF. All faces are friends remember... and all heels are friends as well

Did he ever have a clean pinfall loss in the WWF? i don't know about WCW though as I never watched it when he was there

    Tonight's Sunday Night Heat Thread

you guys are lucky, here in the UK we have had Grisham and Coach do Heat for nearly a year now! and sometimes we used to get Grisham and Marc Loyd together! (Yes Loyd still is with WWE) Funny, Coach and Grisham always tape different commetnary, so basically they call the same matches twice (for you guys in the U.S and here in the UK) and Grisham also said something mentioning Monsoon and Heenan on our UK show! I think he said you are a mountain of misinformation or something

    The Old School questions thread

Heenan retired from managing due to his bad neck, and introduced Coach (no not Jonathan Coachman!) on the Funeral Parlor one time. This was around May/June 91 or so

New WWE UK 5 Year deal confirmed

I have no problem paying for any shows (then I can just buy what I want) but I will be extremly unhappy if they cancel the WWE Classics show (currently WCW Worldwide episodes from July 92) as sometimes that is the highlight of my week when watching wrestling and also as we wont be getting WWE 24/7

    This week in WWF history

was this Raw from 98, where the Undertaker and Kane attacked Vince McMahon, by actually hitting his leg with te steel steps? (this was one of the best things I remember seeing from the Attitude era) Also was this the infamous Raw from 99 with the infamous "This is Your Life" segment to the Rock which I believe is still the highest rated segment in Raw history. Was it 8.3 or something? Also, who the hell would want to see a house show headlined with HHH vs. Bubba Ray Dudley?

    This week in WWF history

I have no recollection of the interview with Jim Ross and Shamrock happening. didnt this happen on a Raw just before WrestleMania 13? or am I going crazy??

The upcoming Kidman / London feud

if any of you saw Byte Thsi today, I think its safe to say Kidman is the heel. One quote i picked up was him calling wrestling fans "the dumbest fans of any sport" (i think thats what he said anyway) He also had a lot of negative comments about the new Tough Enough

    1990 WWF Stone Cold?

the jobber is actually Sonny Austin, as he wrestled a match vs. Jake Roberts in Glens Falls, NY the day before, or day after this match. So it is definitely NOT the future Stone Cold Steve Austin
  15. Could someone explain to me how they have worked out that next weeks show is going to be the fifth anniversary special? Didn’t the show start in August 99? And also was there ever a big deal made about Raw’s fifth anniversary in 98?

    The Old School questions thread

they first used the Events Center on WWF TV the weekend after WrestleMania 4 in 1988. Gene Okerlund hosted these for about 2 months, and the Sean Mooney took over and did them until 93 (not sure if anyone did them after this) Heenan left the WWF in December 93, I believe the actual reason was he wanted to spend more time or be close with his daughter or something. Not sure about Gene Okerlund, but the last time I saw him was SummerSlam 93 Craig DeGeorge did the Event Center in 1987 for a while. Craig disappeared around the time of WM 4 (he did the build up for it on the Event Center), I have no idea why he was fired. I believe Mooney debuted at WM 4 or shortly afterwards, and eventually did the event center for the next 4/5 years. that wasn't the Events Center, you are either referring to the "Update" and "Special Report" segments or the backstage interviews with wrestlers (which is what the Events Center replaced)

    Texas Tornado

the match was shown in full on the Greatest Hits Coliseum video (released in 91 I think) I cant remember the other matches but they are probably on prowrestlinghistory.com somewhere

    Mr. Bob Backlund

Backlund returned in the fall of 92 as babyface. I dont think he did anything of note until the Summer of 94 where he atatcked his former manager Arnold Skaaland and put him in the crossface chickenwing and blamed him for losing the title 11 years prior to the Iron Sheik for throwing the towel in. He MAY have taken about some time off in late 93 or 94 as I dont remember seeing him at all, except a Royal Rumble appearance in 94

    The August 22 Heat Thread

i watched some of this, this morning in the UK and we were treated to the greatest rematch of all time! Val Venis vs. Rodney Mack! (we sure are lucky us UK fans to get such a match twice! )

    1992 WWF JR?

a shame the lumberjack match wasn't on the UK version of this tape! We got something extra instead (IIRC interview with Steiner Brothers or something?) Its annoying because after the 1st Michaels/Duggan match, Savage says we have the lumberjack match later! Very lazy editing...

    New/Reissued DVD's

why does the lawsuit only apply to the UK? Also on the Battle Royal at Albert Hall show, Monsoon and Heenan are hilarious here in every match! The WM 1-9 video was horrible I thought. Jesse Ventura's commentary was edited from the first six WMs with "Special" commentary from Gorilla and Jim Ross. There are some obvious mistakes as well, like someone mentioned the Warrior vs Savage match is billed as a WWF Title match for whatever reason and Vince says that Undertaker's first Wrestlemania appearance was at WM8! I probably wont be getting thse, may as well stick to the VHS releases I already have as DVD quality doesn't affect me

    RAW Rating

(didnt see this posted) courtesy of LAW: Raw on Monday night drew a 3.4 rating, which for the day after SummerSlam, is another bad number.
  24. landy1987

    Texas Tornado

Remember Beefcake was never formally announced on TV to face Perfect at SummerSlam. (did they even carry on their feud after the WrestleMania match at all?) Kerry had one or two matches on Challenge and Superstars as well
  25. Gorilla was the best at this: "Stick the fork in (insert name here), he's done", but then again this was mostly in the squash matches, which are rarely seen now
