    Raws from 95 to 99

reading all these brings back so many memories. I think my safest bet would be to start around the beginning in 95 as just looking at Cawthon's website I am interested in seeing the Battle Royal won by Owen Hart, and the weeks before and after that and then I can just start getting them all gradually, but thanks for the input guys

How many times has a cage match NOT been the ME

Butch Reed and Billy Graham had a cage match at MSG, although I am not sure if it was the main event or not as I recall it was in the middle of the card I think and a tag match was at the end

    WCW Submit or Surrender Series

well these have just recently aired in the UK on WCW Classics. According to Schiavone who was commentating he said they take place every November or something. These were the matches for 11/91 which were on World Wide (not sure if they were on any other shows) 11/2/91 - Johnny B Badd vs Beautiful Bobby 11/9/91 - Sting vs Cactus Jack (as mentioned, but unfortunately WWE didn't send Sky this episode!) 11/16/91 - PN News vs Mr Hughes 11/23/91 - Firebreaker Chip vs Larry Zbyszko 11/30/91 - Big Josh vs Thomas Rich I would have to check my tapes to see who won and how long each match went but it wasn't really a hardcore match I would say (except maybe the Sting/Cactus one) and I don't think PN News was taken out before his match as I remember how bad the match was to watch Not sure if these only happened in 1991 and that was it as I am not really a big WCW fan

What becomes of the cruiserweight belt now?

if WWE were smart they would have an 8 man tournament at the Great American Bash or something, I know I would be interested in buying the PPV then

    The HOF DVD

possibly the match was televised as I am sure I remember Vince talking about a Battle Royal either on that card or the following months card or something

didnt HHH destroy the camera with the sledgehammer? I'm sure I remember them showing in a replay the angle from the actual camera he broke, or did he do this a few weeks before and then threaten to do it again?

    Catchphrases that never caught on

the Blue Blazer - as quick as a laser and as sharp as a razor (Owen said this before some promos, dont think it ever caught on)
  9. after a Bruno Sammartino tag match: Jesse Ventura: I'm impressed McMahon, its nice to see a senior citizen being able to perform physically (Long Pause) Jesse: Senior citizen. He's close to social security and I'll put him on it if he ever gets in there with me Vince McMahon: I doubt that very seriously

  13. How so? I haven't watch Wrestlemania in years, so I don't remember. Thats what he said at the end of his interview after he went on a broken diatribe on how he was going after the leg Valentine damaged on Tito.... Gene then went to interupt him to get back to Gorilla and Ventura and Buddy blurts out Im a Big leaguer! I dont think this was on the Coliseum version of WrestleMania 1 as I sure dont remember it

are you sure this taping was in Rockford, IL? I always fought seen as though they were in Madison, WI for Superstars, they were in LaCrosse, WI the next day. But you have the LaCrosse show as the day after the Superstars taping in Duluth, MN in May, but I also thought that Challenge taping was in Rochester, MN, have I been misled somewhere?

well that isnt exactly correct Saggs was still wrestling in April 93 and I think Skinner was also and I don't think Martel ever left he was just injured and had to take time off Also I thought the 93 Rumble was great (but a shame they didn't but evil Doink in though )

    WWE Hall of Fame 2005

Mr. Fuji should be at the top of the list to be in next year IMO for how long he was there as a wrestler and a manager (25 years?). Not sure if there was anyone else there that long who hasn't been inducted (except Bruno)

So what WWF and WCW PPVs weren't released to the

actually both of these were released and the Big Event match with Hogan and Orndorff was not a cage match that was from SNME which was released on the Hulkamania 2 video. However, soem of the Big Event matches were clipepd and some matches were simply missing from the WrestleFest tape but the Rougeaus/Bees match was shown

Hard Knocks: The Chris Benoit Story DVD

i am glad there isnt much WWF footage as they would have to do a lot of editing to all mentions of "WWF" and the WWF scratch logo which would be on all the turnbuckle pad and camera mens t-shirts. For the cage match they dont have to do as much because the cage blocks most of the logos

that particular 40 Man Battle Royal didn't air on PTW, the one that was won by the Berzerker did which I think you have on your website anyway Just thought I would post this which someone put on the Maple Leaf Wrestling section of Kayfabe Memories: London is in Ontario, a few hours west of Toronto, in the southern Ontario horn. MLW and the WWF ran several cities in southern Ontario, and, as another poster pointed out, there were frequently TV tapings in Brantford. I believe Kitchener and Hamilton had a few, too. One of the reasons McMahon wanted the territory was because he could market to a very large population base in a concentrated geographical area. You would always see Billy Red Lyons come on and promote all the cities in Ontario that the WWF would be hitting in the coming weeks. Now, the Billy Jack Haynes vs Hercules chain match on Even More Unusual Matches. I'm not sure if you have that tape Graham but I know it is definitely somewhere in Ontario, Canada as the guy who ring announced all WWF shows in Ontario from 86-early 90s is announcing plus Billy Red Lyons is commentating and only commentated shows in Canada. I dont know if you have noticed that the arena is quite small and they have those red steps at the apron of the ring in the middle. I have one other match from that same show which is Brad Rheingans pinning Terry Gibbs. I noticed during commentary that Gorilla Monsoon talked about how Bobby Heenan was now managing the Islanders. This only first aired on Superstars on 5/31/87 which means this show in Canada must have been in late May or early June (matches at house shows are normally taped and aired anytime within 1 to 4 weeks later on PTW). What I am wondering is do you think there is a chance that these matches were both at this show in Kitchener? Also one other thing to add in the Rougeaus vs Hercules/Gibbs match, I think it is hilarious because Hercules and Raymond actually have an Arm Wrestling match on the floor inside the ring which is rather strange to see!

just had a look at that episode and it was definitely not Terry Gibbs, but I couldn't tell who the other guy was as the intoductions of Lombardi and the other guy were cut out and Monsoon or Heenan never mentioned either guy. Also I'm almost certain there was no Rougeaus/Bees match at this taping, because the match in question aired on Superstars and was recorded the next day in Oakland. It aired on 7/2 and was the second to last match before the Rude squash and the finish and result of the match are most definitely right. Interestingly enough this is also the final appearance of the Bees as a tag team wrestling on either Superstars and Challenge even though they didn't split up until September as they were still doing Event Center promos then
  22. Just to confirm, these matches are where Smash is played by Randy Culley I know for sure, and are the only matches of Culley that aired on TV: WWF @ East Rutherford, NJ - Meadowlands - January 5, 1987 WWF Superstars taping: 1/17/87: Demolition (w/ Johnny V) defeated Salvatore Bellomo & Mario Mancini (Demolition's debut; Randy Culley aka Moondog Rex played the role of Smash until being replaced by Barry Darsow) WWF @ Hershey, PA - Hersheypark Arena - January 6, 1987 Wrestling Challenge taping: 1/25/87: Demolition (w/ Johnny V) defeated Jerry Allen & Sivi Afi when Ax pinned Allen following the Decapitation at 2:47 I own the Challenge match, and there is a pretty good close up shot of Culley. Darsow was definitely Smash at these two matches at the next set of TV tapings, as I have checked both of these matches, and Graham Cawthon confirms it anyway: WWF @ Tampa, FL - SunDome - January 26, 1987 WWF Superstars taping: 2/14/87: Demolition (w/ Johnny V) defeated Mario Mancini & Sivi Afi at 1:19 when Ax pinned Mancini following the Decapitation (the first appearance of Demolition with Barry Darsow playing the role of Smash) WWF @ Ft. Myers, FL - Lee Civic Center - January 27, 1987 Wrestling Challenge taping: 2/8/87: Demolition (w/ Johnny V) defeated SD Jones & Don Driggers when Ax pinned Driggers with a clothesline after a slingshot from Smash at 1:58

    The Old School questions thread

I believe the first time the blue bars cage was used at WrestleMania 2, and was the cage used mostly from then on (except one time in the Boston Garden in 3/88 for a six man tag cage match) They first used the mesh cage (on TV anyway) on Raw in Feb/March 99 (can't remember participants, maybe X Pac and Shane?) They used the blue/black bars cage after this for the McMahon/Austin cage match at Massacre and I'm sure I remember another one with Mideon and the Boss Man before Mania 15. Also they used the blue bars cage for the infamous Kennel From Hell match. I don't recall ever seeing the blue/black bars cage anytime after Unforgiven 99, except it could have been used at house shows EDIT: Actually, having just wrote this post up I found this, which is quite interesting: The Raw brand house show in Philadelphia, PA on May 22nd was considered a let down. The show sold less then 4,500 tickets in a very competitive market for the company. The show ended up with a decent draw at $150,000 but several people still couldn’t get over how empty the Wachovia Center was. Although those backstage in WWE are claiming that the show was hurt by the Flyers in game seven of the NHL’s Eastern Conference finals. The next night’s house show in Moline, IL was considered to be much more of a let down. Not only were fan reports very negative about the turnout, the show only did around 2,000 paid with a draw of $70,000. There was also some negative talk about the cage that they used in Philadelphia for the Chris Jericho vs. Tyson Tomko match. Apparently the company used an old blue squared one from the Hulk Hogan era. However, they used a “newer” one the next night in Moline.
