    The 2006 NFL Draft Thread

I fucking love the Bloom pick. Thanks to his KR/PR abilites, this means that Mahe is one step closer to a full-time job at Chickie & Pete's.

    2006 NFL Off-Season

The story of Vince Papale, the Eagles WR and special teamer who was 30 when he tried out for the team and made it, is getting made into a movie called "Invincible". Mark Wahlberg is playing Papale, and Greg Kinnear apparently is playing the role of Dick Vermeil. Since Kinnear is playing the role of Vermeil, he better be able to cry on command.

I'm assuming that they're citing the Screamin A Smith article today about how the Eagles should've taken a WR in the first round, even though the WR pool was considered to be weaker this year than it was in past years.

Eagles grabbed another OL with their 1st pick in the 4th round, Max-Jean Gilles. Bit of a steal too as well, as the Eagles have basically now set their OL for the future thanks to this draft: Justice, Jean-Gilles, whatever they do at C, Andrews, and Herremans.

    The 2006 NFL Draft Thread

The Jets got the 76th and the 220th in exchange for the 71st. Not a bad move considering the Eagles took some complete unknown. I wanted Stovall, I wish Todd Pinkston would just go away so I'd never have to watch him run away from contact or say how he "lost focus" again. Apparently they are going to play Gocong at the SAM. So if he is helping to get rid of the bow tie wonder than it is a positive. There are so many receivers still out there they can afford to wait until tomorrow. The more I read about Gocong the more I like him, seeing as he's one of those DE/OLB tweeners that's in style now and he dominated the I-AA competition(17.5 sacks in 2004, 23 sacks in 2005). He could end up being the I-AA pick to the Eagles' defense that Brian Westbrook was to the offense. Also Reid mentioned in his PC that the Patriots were trying to move up to get him as well. If Belichick wanted him that badly, then he must be someone that can be a decent player.

Eagles had a great first 2 rounds today. If Stovall somehow falls to them in round three, then it's even better. I'm sure Dama is just loving that the Eagles grabbed a USC player too. *Giants trade up and get Sinorice Moss.

Bunkley AND Justice today? Man the Eagles really cleaned up on lineman.

Dama got his Sooner in the first round. I'm hearing that the Eagles want to possibly trade up and get back into the first round to get Nick Mangold.

I really like the NFL Network coverage. Much better than the ESPN stooges.

If they take Greenway or Mangold, Spadaro better have a bulletproof vest at the Eagles' draft party.

NFL Network is saying that Winston Justice will be Cleveland's pick. Scratch that, now it's either Lawson or Wimbley.

Bunkley won't last past 14 with the Eagles taking him if he's there.

Seems that the Eagles will get either Ngata, Bunkley, or Justice at 14.

Eagles rumor: WIP was saying last night that the Eagles are basically guaranteed to take WR Maurice Stovall in the second round if he's there.

    2006 NFL Off-Season

They have 3 picks in the 4th round this year, along with the regular picks.

    2006 NFL Off-Season

Rumors are out now saying that the Eagles contacted the Bills about possibly moving up to the 8th spot, probably to draft one of the top DTs. If this happens, I definitely want Ngata. *Apparently, it's been reported that they want Bunkley.

    College Hoops: 4/13/2006 - Midnight Madness (10/16/2006)

Lowry didn't hire an agent, so he can go back for his junior year if he wants. My guess is since he's projected to be a borderline 1st rounder, he'll probably come back for 06-07.

Spring college football practices are starting...

So USC is trying to become the new Florida State. All they need is a foreign kicker that pulls off enough antics to get himself nearly deported...

    College Hoops: 4/13/2006 - Midnight Madness (10/16/2006)

Beilein has basically turned the job down now as well. Onto Frank Haith or Dereck Wittenburg now... This has to be one of the all-time most embarassing coaching searches in any sport. Come out with a list of big names: Tom Izzo, Tom Crean, Jay Wright, Tubby Smith. All reject overtures. Go hard after Rick Barnes, only to have him turn you down. Get played like a fiddle by Calipari who parlayed the NC State offer into a raise from Memphis. Get rejected by Steve Fucking Lavin. Go hard after John Beilein, only to have him embarass you as well.

    College Hoops: 4/13/2006 - Midnight Madness (10/16/2006)

Now reports are saying that Lavin has turned down NC State. which leads NCSU to be very close to hiring West Virginia's John Beilein as the new coach.

    2006 NFL Off-Season

I know this is a bit late now because Favre announced that he's coming back, but this is still funny. Especially the Chumura part, I don't know if this will make you register or not: http://www.bangcartoon.com/?page_id=50

    College Hoops: 4/13/2006 - Midnight Madness (10/16/2006)

The difference in this case between Seton Hall and NC State is I think that Bobby Gonzalez is a pretty decent hire for their program and that they actually set their sights respectably with regards to going after Pecora and Larranga first. NC State people on the other hand thought that coaches should be honored to have the chance to coach there (with regards to NC State people on message boards and their thoughts regarding Rick Barnes, John Calipari, and Jay Wright), and it blew back up in their faces and now they're having to settle for Steve Lavin.
