This Week in College Football 11/21 - 11/26

I was thinking today while reading some 2006 recruiting rankings what the preseason top 5 will be for next year. Here's some contenders: Notre Dame - return many starters, including Brady Quinn and Jeff Samardzija, plus have a top 5 recruiting class coming in. Texas- return Vince Young, but lose a lot on the offensive and defensive lines. Will have the top recruiting class in the country. Auburn - young team this year that is hitting their stride, Cox and Irons will have experience for next year Any other teams you want to recommend?

He can never be as large as Mark Mangino though......that's just one fat motherfucker. Fulmer was an offensive lineman in college....Mangino WAS the offensive line.

I would love that scenario as well, considering that I might be at WVU next fall and I could rub it in Dama's face that the "weak" Big East toppled his darling Big XII...

If that's going to be the market for closers, Gillick should just take the picks that the Phils will gain for letting Wagner go.

That's like the 4th time Colorado people have been throwing stuff on the field. What a class program they have there in Boulder....

Years 3 and 4 will be pivotal. Callaham has to do 8-3 or 9-2 next year to keep the fans, alumns, and boosters off him. His top recruiting class from last year will continue to grow so they should do better the next 2 years...

What a Dick move by Arkansas on 4th and 18, and LSU pulls it out.

I think Penn State and LSU could hold their own against Texas and USC. Both have terrific defenses, PSU also has a QB that's experienced and can get the job done running or throwing most of the time in Robinson. If Derrick Williams didn't get hurt in the Michigan game I'd think they'd have a better shot of pulling an upset.

That's definitely going to hurt LSU if one of the top 2 loses, which is what they were talking about at halftime on CBS. The Big 10 played a lot of MAC teams, which have for the most part been stronger than the SEC's OOC. LSU's OOC was Arizona State, who have gone south, 1-AA Appalachian State, and North Texas, compared to PSU who have played for their OOC: USF, who could win the Big East, Cincinnatti, and another team who's name escapes me at the moment, but I think they were a MAC team. * Checking it, the third team was 6-5 Central Michigan. And just to throw something in, if this is the Dama we're going to have to deal with until the Rose Bowl, then I hope Texas chokes next week. I don't care if LSU gets to the Rose over PSU, just not having to hear him be a fanboy for the third straight year would make these threads a lot more peaceful...

Oh God, and they give Mack a Gatorade bath and all.....I'd laugh if Young turns into Chris Simms next week in the Big XII title game.

Well, I believe Reggie Bush has the Heisman locked up, especially if he has a good game against UCLA next week.

USC came back to win against a top 10 team(Notre Dame in South Bend) and a top 20 and quite underrated team(Fresno). Texas is struggling with teams that may not even make it to bowl games(Oklahoma State and currently A&M).

The Pornstasche finishes 5-6. If I were Pitt, I'd make sure that the recruiting class they have is dead-set on going to Pitt next year because I can't imagine a 5-6 season with some embarassing losses (Notre Dame, Ohio, Rutgers, and West Virginia) enticing kids to come to Pitt... Hopefully West Virginia beats South Florida next week, they're the only Big East team in contention for the conference title that could possibly hang with the opposition in their BCS bowl. I would believe that Pitt is likely to not hold this year against Wannstedt since it was his first year and he was adjusting to the college game, along with getting a good recruiting class. However, if they miss a bowl game again next year, he could be in a bit of trouble.

I was just thinking that if Texas were to lose on Friday and still win the Big XII title, the Fiesta Bowl would probably cream itself for a Notre Dame-Texas matchup...
