Terrific ending to the first season tonight. It seems like Brutus is being portrayed the same way he was in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, a man that is shown as having an honorable cause for killing Caesar along with the other conspirators, who I think seem much more evil. I don't know how Season 2 can top this season because I thought Ciaran Hinds carried the show as Caesar. I do hate the fact that Season 2 isn't coming out until 2007 apparently...

It would be 6-5 Pittsburgh. Pitt and USF would both be 2-1 against co-champions, while Pitt would have the head-to-head tiebreaker with USF for beating them. Just think Pittsburgh could be the worst team ever to go to a BCS game........ two years in a row! Well, at least I think that's the case. If the Big East tiebreaking procedure isn't that complicated, then the Sugar Bowl would just get to take their pick. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No, it's a bit more complicated than that. If none of the teams that are tied has swept the rest of the teams, the bid goes to whoever is ranked higher in the BCS. If neither team is ranked, THEN it goes to head-to-head ranking. But, since both teams would presumably be unranked in the BCS, yes, Pitt would get the automatic bid. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yes, it would be Pitt. As underwhelming as that team would be (yes, even I would admit that it would not be good for the Big East), there is one match-up with a 6-5 Pitt team that would still be appealing and marketable than any match-up they could throw a 10-1 WVU team at: Pitt v. Penn State The BCS would idiots to ignore this. If nothing else, it would be funny to watch Paterno squirm when asked about the game. Of course, the scenario that would put Pitt in the game is so far-fetched it's not worth talking about unless it actually occurs. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That way would probably be the only way PSU is playing Pitt as long as Joe is still there. If that scenario did happen though it is possible for it to happen... -
So this season hasn't been a tankjob already? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It officially entered tankjob mode after the game last Monday night.

Miami is pretty much out of it now, with LSU and Penn State being the ones that could pounce if either USC or Texas loses before the postseason. I think USC would possibly get some more leeway if they were to lose to UCLA, seeing as UCLA is ranked. If USC got blown out by UCLA however, it might be a different story. Texas on the other hand can't afford to lose to either a bad A&M team or to a mediocre North champion and expect to still be in the Rose Bowl. If there's an upset lurking in the last 3 games between those 2, I think it's the Big XII title game between Texas and Colorado. There's going to be shitloads of pressure on Texas to win and get to the Rose Bowl, and Gary Barnett has beaten Texas in the conference championship before, if you remember the 2001 game and Mack's idiotic move of starting Chris Simms and watching him have one of his patented meltdowns before finally putting Major Applewhite in. -
It could happen, seeing as I think the team is just dead in the water now with all of the injuries turning the team into a hospital ward.

Yeah I remember they got Morelli away from Pitt at the last minute on signing day... -
Anyway, back to the NFL. Yeah I want a tankjob from the Eagles and possibly drafting A.J. Hawk...

Joe Pa recruited a lot of guys who just never developed. His quarterback the seasons before this one was a complete joke and the only reason he kept playing him was cause the back-up was even more pathetic. Happy Valley is not a good place, it's basically a shell hole. They can get a new coach, not going to change the fact that Penn St as an elite school will be one and done when Paterno leaves. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He had Robinson on the team, and still gave the bulk of the playing time to Zak Mills last year. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Mills was a senior. He deserved a chance to finish it out, even if he did suck. Not to mention Mills wasn't the only one who failed to develop. Pa lost a couple of defensive recruits to standards and injury. Last year was a dead year no matter what, so Mills should have just finished. He recruited a very good class last year and this year so PSU should be back around. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think you deserve to finish things off, if you aren't getting the job done. The freshmen have helped Penn St. and Robinson this year. However, Senior or not, you can't be afraid to pull a QB that ineffective. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> This was a big problem for Joe up until this year, namely that he was too loyal to upperclassmen when he had underclassmen that could perform better. I also wanted to comment on the post about Penn State being done as an elite school once Joe leaves, which I don't think is true at all. They're in a great state for football recruiting and are very near some fertile recruiting gounds as well, Ohio and Virginia, not to mention the Mid-Atlantic area which can be quite underrated as far as prospects go. Defensive coordinator Tom Bradley is probably going to be the successor to Paterno, so as long as he keeps the playcalling very far away from Jay Paterno, they'll be allright. They're a traditional program with a 100,000+ stadium and tons of contributing donors, so I doubt they'd fall off the face of the earth once Joe moves on... -
An OU student nonetheless, I thought proclaiming that would probably get you hanged in Norman...

An Eagles fan would never want McNabb dressed up like a Cowboy. You lose again Dama <{POST_SNAPBACK}> McNabb would show the Cowboys what being a real cowboy is all about. I hope the other NFC East teams enjoy the fun they're having this season b/c we'll be back next season! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Shouldn't you be cheering for the Cowboys so the NFC East gets more respect. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's totally different in the NFL and you know it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bullshit it's the same, you have obviously never met actual Eagles fans. As bitter rivals, there is no way in hell I'd root for Dallas or the Giants or as a PSU fan root for Pitt...

I'd actually say that all 4 schools are draws, even Virginia Tech with Marcus Vick up against one of the three traditional powers with an "Old School vs. New School" storyline. -

As much as they need an OLB, I'd be shocked to see them go that route. If they ever took a LB or RB in the first round, it would blow my mind. If they get a high enough pick, I think they go OL (have to replace Tra Thomas, his body is shot). And lord knows we don't need them taking a LB in the 2nd round. That history is just too depressing, even in the current Eagles setting. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I was thinking possibly going OL as well, I'd love to see them grab Marcus McNeill from Auburn if he's avaliable...

The rumor I hear now is that ABC is trying extremely hard to get PSU-ND in the Fiesta Bowl, and to work out a deal to make it happen with the Orange Bowl getting Ohio State and Virginia Tech. My guess is some money will definitely be exchanging hands if Notre Dame and Virginia Tech can both win their final games. -
Well, I'm still hoping for a tankjob this year for the Eagles, as there are a decent amount of good OLBs in the draft this year...

Oh good Lord, Jay Glazer reported that if the Eagles put McNabb on IR they might sign Kordell Stewart...

Don't the lower bowls get more leeway over who they get to pick? I'd imagine OU would be more of a draw then Texas Tech. Haha Mark May said if Michigan didn't get those 2 seconds put back on the clock in the game last month there'd be a huge debate between PSU and Texas for #2... -

If I'm OU, the last thing I'd want is the Cotton Bowl because of a possible matchup with Auburn....and I'd imagine they're still a LITTLE pissed about last year. I would not want to play Auburn right now because they're hot... -

The dream for Notre Dame-Penn State in the Fiesta Bowl is still alive! What's more likely is Notre Dame playing Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl and Penn State playing Miami in the Orange Bowl, thought the Orange Bowl would be crazy to not have a little interest in a possible OSU-Miami game. -

Lloyd Carr is in a quite strenuous position for next year. He needs a big year to keep the heat down on him. However, he has got one hell of a tough schedule for next year. He's got to play Notre Dame, Penn State, and Ohio State all on the road. Did PSU's receivers hang out with the Seahawks this week? What's with all the drops? PSU blocks a punt and gets a TD. 10-0 PSU. -

Lloyd Cooper is now 1-4 against Jim Tressel. Thank God that bullshit time snafu in the PSU-Michigan game can't decide the Big Ten championship.
