I didn't see this posted here, I thought it was a nice story. http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ap...ov=ap&type=lgns Of course if Michael Wilbon saw this story he would still scream about the "unfair firing" of Tyrone Willingham...

Abreu struck out pretty much to end the season. I can see Howard Eskin preparing his diatribe now for 3 PM tomorrow on WIP..

Dugoutdollars.blogspot.com, but they haven't updated since last July. I can come up with a list, but not tonight. I can tell you Urbina, Wagner, Pratt, Lofton are free agents after this year, and Bell and Lieberthal are free agents after next year. I think Vicente Padilla's eligible for free agency after next year as well. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> My guess is Urbina, Wagner, and Lofton are gone. Pratt might be back again, and Bell and Lieberthal are definitely gone after next year.

That would be a mistake. When you think about it, if Randy Wolf had not gone down would he have won two more games? Very likely. Sure, the Phillies may miss the Playoffs, but this team is not really a failure. They will win around 86 wins, good for fourth in the National League. There's a strong young nucleus of talent to build on, and this team is a patch or two away from making a good run. There's no reason to upset the boat at this juncture. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What do you think will happen as it pertains to offseason moves? My guess is they'll try to move Thome, even if they have to eat a good amount of the contract. I'd like to see them resign Lofton, as he did a good job this year. Maybe another Lieber-like signing, as he was worth the contract this year. Wagner I'm not so sure what they'll do about him. Is there any site that has the remaining length of the Phillies players under contract?

Have fun watching the Phillies play golf for the 11th year in a row. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'll remeber this in April when the Flyers send the Leafs golfing again.
-
I hope not. I know many are frustrated with Ed Wade, but is there a good reason for hiring Brian Cashman besides change for the sake of change? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have the feeling that someone is going to be made the scapegoat for missing the playoffs again this year. It was the manager last year, I bet someone is going to lose their job or get moved via trade after this year.
-
Have fun watching them get knocked out in the first round again in front of the usual 30% capacity crowd at Turner Field. Al, there's been reports of Wade's contract getting bought out if the Phillies don't make the playoffs or of Wade possibly getting moved to another position and Brian Cashman possibly being the new GM. Any possibility of this actually happening?

Ugh, the Phillies don't deserve the playoffs after the last 2 nights.

They can be stopped. Witness the first half against Oregon. And I think that was them beating themselves. Combine that with a good defense and I think they can easily be stopped. Remember they arent going to face an awesome defense(except maybe Notre Dame) all season so I think when they finally do face a tough defense they will get frustrated. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ND's corners aren't that good, though the front seven is decent. The only chance Notre Dame has against USC is if Weis can do the same thing against USC that he did against the Colts in the playoffs this year, which is play ball-control with Darius Walker and hopefully keep USC's offense off the field.

Wow nice comeback by the Vols.
-
I may have spoken too soon about Tennessee, they're only down 3 now.
-
Dude we know you hate Texas but they aren't as bad as you seem to be making them out to be. It's doubtful anyone in the Big XII can even beat them. I mean they went into Columbus and won....what more do you want? Do they have to beat the entire Top 10? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Tressel blew that game by taking too many field goals. LSU's schedule includes Florida, Alabama, and this game along with a strong opponent in the SEC title game if they get there, so they'll definitely have a chance to pass Texas in the polls if they keep winning impressively. As for Tennessee, I'm not suprised that they're flopping. It seems to me that anytime there's high expectations on Fulmer he has bad seasons. The seasons that not much is expected (1998 and 2004), he has great years. I think the Georgia, Alabama, and Notre Dame games could all possibly be troublesome for them.
-
I personally can't wait for PTI tomorrow and Wilbon's race-baiting tirade against Notre Dame due to them beating Washington...
-
Looking over Michigan's schedule, 6-5 or 7-4 is a very real possibility this year. I think Michigan State has an excellent shot of winning in East Lansing next Saturday, and they've still got Minnesota, Iowa, and Ohio State left to play, granted 2 of the 3 are at home.

I was at the Eagles-Raiders game today. Pretty decent game despite Reid refusing to run the ball, the injuries, the penalties, and the Eagles getting no pressure at all on Collins. The next two games are at KC and Dallas, so I'm hoping for 1-1 before the bye week.
-
Notre Dame up 29-3 over Washington.
-
Penn State comes back from a 4th and 15 at their own 17 yard line, and Robinson throws a TD pass to Derrick Williams to win 34-29.

If the Cubs and Cardinals can help with a couple of wins over the Astros, the Phillies are going to the playoffs. Even though Brito has to pitch tomorrow night, they get to face Milton who they definitely can tack a ton of runs on, and I've heard that Pedro might be getting shut down for the year once the Mets are mathematically out of it, and they're supposed to face him Tuesday.

HOLY SHIT, and its a pro-Bell avatar now Al. Can I still make fun of Manuel and Wade though for their mistakes? To tell you the truth, I turned it off at 10-6 and started doing my LSAT studying since I thought it was over, but I just saw the highlights. Wow, those kinds of games the Phillies usually piss it away...
-
At least the Yankees are in position to win the division. Phils needed this game badly since Houston lost today...
-
Those fucking chokers. Blow a 6-1 lead against a fucking team that has packed it in already....and Manuel is a moron for having Fultz in for one batter then bringing in Madson who has sucked in the last couple games...
-
Howard and Utley hit HRs, 6-1 Phillies. Clemens won't be making his start tomorrow, so if they lose tomorrow and the Phillies can bomb Milton tomorrow night, they'll be tied for the Wild Card. Just as I'm typing this the Reds get runners at the corners. Oh for god fucking sakes, do not blow this lead.
-
Phillies up 3-0.
-
After yesterday, doesn't David Bell deserve safe haven from your avatar? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> As a matter of fact, I'll keep the E5 title off the avatar until he makes an error that ends up blowing the wild card...
