I have a feeling that MSU is going to carve up Michigan in East Lansing in 2 weeks if they can get their defense in order.

Notre Dame has just tied this game at 38. Gotta give them credit, being down 14-21 points they may have just quit under Willingham.

I'm really liking Drew Stanton. This kid looks great, and had he not gotten hurt last year MSU would've beaten Michigan. Miami is up 13-10 and looking to score again, and the Nebraska-Pittsburgh game is quite ugly.

I believe it's a contract year for him Mik, which means he'd probably play well this year anyway in hopes of getting some team to blow a wad of money on him before reverting to his usual shitty self. Just thinking of past history when I watch him...

I'd say this loss was more McKeon's fault for: 1. Leaving Willis in too long 2. Depending on Todd Fucking Jones to bail them out

Notre Dame recovers a MSU fumble and gets a TD for a 17-14 lead. Penn State is up 16-0 on Central Michigan.

14-10 Michigan State after an Irish FG.

Notre Dame is looking horrible against Michigan State, guess I was right about that 6 1/2 point line being too high.

That was HUGE for the Phillies. They may have finally gotten over the hump against Florida. If they beat Beckett tomorrow, they could very well end Florida's playoff hopes and have great confidence heading to Atlanta next Tuesday.

Phils are up 10-3, winning a game they really needed as they're facing Willis and Beckett in the next 2 games. Grabbing one of those 2 and winning the series would be great for the Phillies.

Tough to pick Notre Dame giving 6 1/2 points this week, considering Michigan State always gives them trouble and has won the last 4 times in South Bend, despite Franchessa and Russo being on the bandwagon all week.

We didn't give up anything important for those guys though. The Byrd trade was bad, but Marlon was expendable. Lieberthal's outperformed Estrada this season. There are some questionable trades on Wade's resume, but no outright Kansas City style robberies. We got 2 very good years out of Placido Polanco, and of course the Billy Wagner trade. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I miss Polanco. I'd rather much see him at 3rd base right now, if Wade could've moved David Bell's contract. Nice job by the Phils tonight, a win tomorrow could be huge for their confidence...

A blind squirrel finds a nut every once in a while. Inning-Endy Chavez, Mike Williams, Turk Wendell, Todd Jones, Dennis Cook, Kevin Milwood( though it did look good at the time of the trade), trading nearly all of the catcher prospects... He did do a decent job of scouting for the Abreu trade, but Lee Thomas was the GM when the trade actually happened.

I assume you have a better plan then? Just how do we deal with Thome's contract AND keep Howard? I like Howard as much as anyone, but it may be in the best interests of the organization to trade him, especially now that his perceived value is so high. A SF columnist wrote the Giants should go head over heals to acquire him. Trading Howard could provide long-term solutions at third base or catcher. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It's the boneheaded thing that this organization would do. If they have to trade Howard, the last person that should be dealing him is Wade, considering how well his other deals have went. I have a feeling that if they trade Howard, Thome is going to take heaps of abuse from the media and fanbase, especially if he comes back next year and struggles.

Phillies win 5-4. If Ed Wade trades Ryan Howard this offseason, I may have to take a baseball bat, drive over to CBP and take his knees out.

    NFL Opening Week 2005

MY GOD! Someone understands the concept of defensive line play! This is the reason why Simon, Casey Hampton, etc. are exceptional DTs and someone like, say, Warren Sapp, is a piece of shit. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> But come on, Simon did look like the fucking Stay Puft Marshmallow Man in that Colts uniform on Sunday night. As shown here: Corey in 2001 Corey on Sunday night

Mora did spend time in Philly when he was younger since his dad coached the USFL team there, if he goes after Jon Gruden threatening "I'll kill you!! I'll kill you!!" then we can assume that he's spent time talking to John Chaney. I could see this developing into a rivalry like the Eagles had with the Bucs and Rams a couple of years ago, but the Eagles main rivalries are with the rest of the NFC East.

    NFL Opening Week 2005

Ripper, a lot of the reason why the run defense sucked in the early part of last year was because Simon was extremely out of shape coming into camp because he reported late due to being angry about his contract. He had to play himself into shape last year, which is one of reason why I think the run defense got better later on into the year. Much like Sunday night seeing Simon look like the fucking Michelin Man in that white Colts uniform, he's going to have to play himself into shape. I also think the Eagles got killed on penalties last night, especially getting whistled for 4 illegal formation penalties, which is something you should only be getting whistled for once in a great while, not 4 times a game.

    NFL Opening Week 2005

I agree, and it's not helping when the offensive line looks like complete and utter shit and isn't giving him a lot of time. But there were about 4-5 plays I saw where he could've broke a run and made the secondary hesitate.
