I think Atlanta was seriously pumped for this game, mostly because of they wanted to use this as a litmus test of where they were at. If this was the AFC, I'd be extremely worried. Oh fucking Christ, they fucking fumble just as I'm trying to defend them.

They always look like shit in the first game. 2001 they got beat by the Rams in the first game, 2002 they blew a lead against the Titans, 2003 they got shutout by the Bucs. I'd say make an evaluation of them probably in Week 6 after they've gotten a few games under their belt.

The Eagles problem tonight has been that they've been getting dominated in the trenches, a marked difference from January where they were getting tons of push against the Falcons' DL and giving McNabb tons of time. I really can't explain Akers' shitty performance tonight. He usually kicks well in the Linc, which may have replaced the Meadowlands for worst winds in the NFL. Something isn't right with him, he was kicking bad in the preseason too. Kickers might be the most mentally fragile players in football, if they go on a streak of misses they sometimes can turn into headcases.
