The OaO Raw thread for 05/15/06

I thought it was actually a decent finish for once. And Chioda took the Pedigree quite well...

    NHL 2006 Playoffs thread...

If it had happened in Philly, the national media (Wilbon and other blowhards) would've been all over it.

It's Ryan Howard's planet, we all just live on it.

Ballgame. Phils will attempt the sweep tomorrow.

How in God's name is Charlie Manuel not on that list?

Spring college football practices are starting...

Bumping because Tom Osborne ended up losing the Nebraska governors' primary by a slim margin.....I guess he didn't get the sympathy vote like he did in 1997.

Ballgame. Hell of a debut by Hamels.

Gives up a run but gets an out, something Julio Santana couldn't seem to do at all.

Nice show of continuity by CSN tonight, as they showed Kenny Lofton pulling up instead of going after a ball last year, then saying that he wasn't running into a wall to make a catch before showing the Rowand play.

    2006 NFL Off-Season

The high school brawl you're referring to actually got Moss kicked out of Notre Dame, where he originally was supposed to play at in college, which led to him transferring to Florida State.

    NHL 2006 Playoffs thread...

It's funny because it's true. Why exactly does North Jersey have an NHL team again, when they never get sellouts on a regular basis because of the state mostly being Flyers or Rangers fans? Anyway, rooting for Carolina because Brind'Amour was always a favorite of mine when he was on the Flyers.

    College Hoops: 4/13/2006 - Midnight Madness (10/16/2006)

4 official rejections by Barnes, Calipari, Steve Lavin, and John Beilein. Anyway, if Nova ends up losing Lowry they'll likely get 4-star Virginia PG/SG Scottie Reynolds, who's game is very reminiscent of Randy Foye's. Nardi would likely move over to PG and Reynolds would have every opportunity to win the SG spot.

8th straight win for the Phils. And if you think Bonds got booed loud enough by the fans, Wagner's coming to town next. The abuse that he'll get will make Bonds' booing seem miniscule by comparison.

I graduate from college this week!

One good thing about graduation and having a big family, the gifts. I swear I think I've gotten about $1,000 total in my graduation cards.

I'm graduating college tomorrow with a BA in History. Of course, I'm also selling my soul when I start law school in the fall as well...

    NHL 2006 Playoffs thread...

Jesus Fucking Christ, that game reminded me of the 8-0 game back in 2001. Nice to see Clarke still building a team like he did back in the 90s with the "dump the puck and check" style. And anyone who thinks that Snider is going to fire his adopted son GM, IT'S NOT FUCKING HAPPENING. Ed would have to die or be replaced for Clarke(and apparently Billy King now too) to finally get the axe.

Why is it exactly that people are turning down NC State? What makes that job so undesireable? I imagine they get good backing from the university, they get tv time and they play big name teams... 1. Sharing the same state and competing against Duke and UNC all of the time, basically being 3rd or 4th fiddle in NC. 2. Fanbase is quite delusional; expecting over 20 wins each season, beating Duke and UNC all of the time, multiple ACC championships, and contending for national titles while being in the ACC and dealing with the aforementioned Duke and UNC. 3. Being the type of character that Jim Valvano was, which Herb Sendek wasn't and likely got him run off.

    The 2006 NFL Draft Thread

Eslinger was being knocked for his size and that scouts were projecting that'd he be more of a fit in a blocking system such as Denver's or Atlanta's.

Mike Brey has now turned down NC State too. When mediocre coaches from other conferences are turning you down, you might as well just give up.

Isiah would find a way to give another first round pick to Chicago if he wanted to trade for Chandler.

    TSM 2006 NBA Playoffs thread

First, find a playoff game where a team blew a 5 point lead with less than 10 seconds left in the game. Once you've done that, name the last time one player hit a game tying AND game winning shot in a postseason game with each shot coming with less than 1 second on the game clock? Also find a game where the league's back to back Most Valuable Player made the same critical mistake twice, costing his team a victory not once but twice, and all but eliminated them from the postseason as a result. Still following me? Now I want you to tell me how much differently this series would be if it was 2-2 instead of 3-1 Lakers? Now bare in mind ALL of this happened in 5 minutes and about 10 seconds of game action in a SINGLE game. What the fuck do you think they're going to be talking about? If the roles were reversed and Kobe turned it over twice and Nash had hit two of the biggest shots of his life, you would most definitely want ESPN "sucking as much cock as possible" and you'd practically orgasm at them ripping Kobe. Stop being a hater. Yes, thank you. Are they supposed to review every pick of the 2nd day of the draft, or only talk about baseball. You know, they have to talk about everything, considering that the NBA is a sport, and ESPN is a "sporting" network. They can't ignore it. I'm loving this assbeating of San Antonio. I beg to differ considering the crap that ESPN shows now. Yeah Dama, I'd suggest switching to Fox Sports Net or something... I'm also loving that we are only one win by both L.A. teams away from a Lakers-Clippers series, which would probably be along the lines of a holy war for Clippers fans.

    The 2006 NFL Draft Thread

I imagine his brother will find some way to get him on the Falcons. I'm suprised Oakland didn't take a flyer on him with the last pick, he's got Raider written all over him. Anyway, the Eagles had a terrific draft. The Bunkley, Justice, and Jean-Gilles picks were all great selections, and getting Jeremy Bloom for the return game was good too.
