Looking at the Phillies next year, this is who I'd like to see as the starters 1B: Howard 2B: Utley SS: Rollins 3B: Sign someone who can hit righties for one year and platoon him with Bell C: Lieberthal, and bring Carlos Ruiz up as the backup catcher for him to be ready for 2007 OF: Burrell, Abreu, and give Shane Victorino a chance to win the CF job P: Lieber, Myers, Lidle, and the final 2 shots depends on if Padilla is coming back or not and maybe give Tejeda the 5th spot Closer does worry me since I doubt Wagner is back. I like Al's idea of signing BJ Ryan. I'll give Wade credit for the Lieber signing, he earned that contract this year.

Notre Dame whipped Purdue 49-28. While I don't think they can beat USC in 2 weeks, they are good enough to catch Tennessee for an upset in South Bend. I see them going 8-3 or 9-2 this year provided they have no slip-ups against inferior teams, and with the recruits that Charlie Weis has attracted already and will attract, they are on their way back to being a national player again.

Agreed, they could've packed it in after the 2 losses to the Mets, but they hung in there, longer than they have in the past couple of years.
