So, Yakubu to Pompey. Any thoughts on that? Any truth to that, even? I must say, I'm a big fan of the Yak. He's one of my favourite players in the league, and was the striker I wanted us (Liverpool) to sign this summer, though I suspect Kuyt will take that role. I suppose bringing Yakubu back may even tempt Defoe to join for a year or so.

Then that should tell you it is a must see match. Not that it's a great match, but a match that impacted so many different people and had a tremendous effect. That, to me, is a "must see" match.

But I guess Benoit's run as champ resulted in the best 6 months of Raw since the brand split. The booking was still terrible, but I was at least interested in (some) of the characters, and the matches were the best they have ever been.

I dunno, Raw has always been pretty horrible. The only time it was really any good was when SmackDown! was at it's worst. I'm satisfied with each of the years, in regards to SmackDown! anyway. 2002 was consistently solid - very good. 2003 was very underrated, outside of a couple of pretty blah spells (the weeks surrounding No Mercy were terrible tv). 2004 was inconsistent, and the show seemed to be going nowhere, but there was still good wrestling. 2005 was fine. So far this year the wrestling has been top notch again, and I have found myself enjoying the shows as a whole more than ever. Raw I don't care about.

And pochorenella, I thought that Vengeance match ended the Doomsday Device? I'm not entirely sure, however.

Of all the matches listed, you find the Mania 3-way to be the one most worthy of criticism? Come on man, there's a load of matches listed here that aren't even good. Besides, the criteria, as far as I know, isn't simply "great matches", it is "must see matches". That covers great matches, memorable matches, memorable moments, historic title changes, etc. I know that, if I hadn't seen it, regardless of match quality, I would want to check out the WMXX main event. I do agree, though, it's not THAT great of a match, but I still like it. More than most, in fact.

Rebellion02 is worth a watch.

No, there is no way of the US getting that goal. And, also, the goal was disallowed due to interference in the play. The ball doesn't need to be touched for a player to interfere. It's a great topic of debate in English football/soccer right now, due to numerous rule changes over the last couple of years.

Screw that. Rey Mysterio is a poor wrestler, who doesn't know how to play a good babyface. Don't question me! An unpopular opinion, it surely is.

I think Rey knows what to expect. He said after last year's show that he brought the "WWE Rey Mysterio" and realised that they wanted the old Rey, so he knew not to make that mistake in future. It doesn't change that Rey will be booed, but he can win the crowd back, if he sticks to what he said.

Precious Roy's post is like my post except he's serious. Come on. Cena on course to be better than Rock? How, exactly? The guy's been a pro for more than 6 years! I'm not sure what date Rocky debuted, but it was sometime in 96, I think (wrestling in general). So six years later, he'd already pretty much packed up from WWE, after winning the title six times (soon to be seven), being one of the most over guys of all time, face or heel, and having great matches with Austin, Benoit, Angle, Trips, etc.... That's just one of the crazy claims you made! Unpopular indeed.

Was it an actual attempt to sign him, or just some sort of statement of intent? I mean, I like Pompey and all, and Harry Redknapp's a top bloke, but I couldn't see Defoe there, regular first team football or not. Perhaps he could be sold on working with Redknapp again, I dunno.
