Hahahahahaa what? I said back a while ago that it couldnt have been just a coincidence that the economy started to slowly turn south soon after he dropped out of the Primary Race. As for my conspiracy theory, it is strange that McCain got a huge bump out of the Convention and Palin nomination and then all of a sudden were on a first class ticket to 1929 with a crumbling economy, when everyone freely admits that John McCain absolutely sucks when it comes to the economy.
-
But Romney's such an unlikeable douchebag, that the raise would probably be over pre-bailout stuff anyway. There wouldnt be any "Romney is a 3rd Bush term" either.
-
Romney wouldnt be getting slaughtered on the Economy like McCain is. I dare say (tin foil hat conspiracy alert!) that the economy may have never started tanking had he gotten the nomination..
-
You've clearly established yourself in previous threads as an expert on our nation's entitlement crisis. Anyways, I thought McCain's closing was really good, but almost sounded like a concession speech. Otherwise, I thought he laid a big giant turd in the two hours leading up to it. ?? The 2nd question was spot on. Obama wants to talk about having the ability to see around corners to be able to see problems that are there before they get as bad as the mortgage crisis has gotten. The Entitlement Programs are pretty much like Godzilla coming down the street knocking down all of the buildings on street and it seems that Obama isn't paying Godzilla any attention. For the record, McCain's answer that they can fix both at the same time wasn't much better, but at least he didn't dodge the issue twice.
-
Obama completely dodged the problems with Entitlement programs not once but twice. First time he was supposed to prioritize Healthcare, Energy and Entitlement Programs and he went replaced Entitlement Programs with Education. When specifically asked about Entitlement Programs and them being a potentially bigger problem to the economy then the mortgage crisis, I believe his ultimate response was "we'll deal with it". I can't be the only one that noticed this.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

Quick, someone defend New Jersey's rampant budget problems. Im sure Massachusetts is right up there in terms of paying taxes to the government too. And yes, you were quick to quote my redacted statement about red/blue states (I edited it out to save from having a red/blue state arguement that overshadowed my main point) but that still stands. In the majority of Blue states you will find that the governments of those states refuse to cut bugets even when the revenues they collect decrease, to the point that they have to raise taxes more which only add fuel to the problem. I live in Maryland and Im seeing it firsthand myself with Governor Omalley and his crap that he keeps pulling. Back in 2002 when Erlich took office, he took a 1.8 billion deficit and turned it around in 4 years to a 1 billion surplus, only to have Omalley step in in 2006 and end up with a 1.3 billion budget deficit after his first year, which was used as an excuse to raise the sales tax 20% and to threaten people to vote for Slot Machines (VOTE OR ELSE THERE WILL BE NO MONEY FOR SCHOOLS!!). -
Maybe they can get Tina Fey to do it as well. As for the Townhall Debate thing tonight, Im hoping that there are some really good questions picked. Of course, the smart people will all claim the same as they did on the VP debate, the while McCain (Biden) won Obama (Palin) didn't totally screw up a lot. Obama's chances of not stuttering trying to answer questions he wasnt prepared for is pretty good. If he somehow makes it through then I'll be surprised.

I don't know if you noticed, but people wind up upside down in loans all the time. It happens with cars a lot, even without government interference at all. I understand that people end up upside down on loans all the time, and cars are a good example because people get 5-7 year loans and in the culture today of "things that aren't new and shiny are worthless" feel the need to get a new well before their loan is up. But you cannot equate a car, a boat, or anything else to a home for the plain and simple fact that one of the main facets of the American Dream is to own a home.

The best part about that article is the total lack of concrete statistical evidence showing any direct correlation between Clinton's policies and the market collapse. Solid work. Without having a solid source to base this on (oh no, a couple blogs dont really count do they?), I keep seeing the same point that there were about a trillion dollars worth of subprime loans issued from 1995-2000, with 1995 being when Clinton Amended the CRA Act to get more low income/minorities into the game. How much did that bailout bill cost? 7/10ths of a trillion bucks. Close enough when you're talking in the hundreds of billions of dollars..

So..what do we think about states lining up to the bailout trough for their share of the bailout frenzy? California wants a couple billion, and no doubt more states will follow given the tough economic times, especially when its easier to go lineup at the bailout trough than it is to say no to people and cut bugdets instead of increasing them and raising taxes ad nauseum. -

This has always been an really stupid position, but one would think that the current clusterfuck on Wall St. would have finally put the lie to the notion that the private sector is some kind of magical place filled with supremely competent individuals who could do oh so much good for the country if they were simply freed from the oppressive shackles of BIG GOVERNMENT. Guess not tho. Least we not forget that the government encouraged the banks to give out the loans to people who couldnt pay them back under the guise of increased low income/minority home ownership..er..mortgages. the banks had nothing to worry about with the government basically assuming the risk, so why not? So without the influence of government, these people aren't being foreclosed on and the economy isn't tanking though it probably would have never gotten as high off the ground as it did leading up to this mess because people wouldn't be spending money left and right like they actually had the money to spend and actually saving money towards home ownership instead of buying homes with no money down and no proof of income. Hmm. Oh well.

oh jeez The cool thing about listening to GB was that he had her on his show numerous times WAAAAAAY before she was picked as VP, so I dare say that I knew more about her through his interviews with her than the media knew about her even a week after she was picked as VP.

Ha ha..silly..everyone by now knows where I get the majority of my information from, and it ain't Fox News. A couple of weeks ago I complained to another poster that he'd gone too far ---an official board moderator no less--- because he'd brought up problems I'd had in my marriage as proof the problem I had with certain female politicians was that she was a woman. I was told that this was perfectly acceptable. So, if I can have my irrelevant personal problems used against me in this thread, Marvin should be able to handle being called a "retard" for equating boycotting a bank with terrorism. I have..no clue what you're talking about. Did you miss where I posted about the fact that I absolutely hate John McCain's health policy (5,000 tax credit that goes to the insurance companies for the right to go and buy health insurance on the free market and paying taxes on what your employee pays for your health insurance in an effort to get everyone buying health insurance on the free market). I am absolutely 100% against the government running healthcare though, since I dont know of one thing that the Government runs that couldn't be run 1,000 times better by someone else. I also spent a good deal of wasted time before I was barred from the folder in the Global Warming thread trying to explain my views on Energy. And I've posted frequently in the Bank Bailout thread, although yes Im guilty of a "He was for it before he was against it" move, but only because the fucking Senate tacks on $150 billion worth of pork (that would have been passed anyway, but hey..lets attach it to the MOST IMPORTANT BILL EVER!) and Im pissed off that John McCain stood there like a idiot and actually went against his "Mr. Anti Pork" label and voted for it. And Foreign policy..I haven't said anything lately about that, but before I was barred I mentioned that the Russia invading Georgia was due to oil..and with the price of oil dropping like a rock they will be forced to do something to re-inflate the price of oil or risk their economy tanking due to the fact that their economy is basically the inverse of ours (they need high oil prices). I could give a rats ass about Iraq with the exception of the fact that its proximity to Iran is important, but right now Iran is basically a distant second threat to Russia so whatever. One issue I still have thats being ignored is illegal immigration, but thankfully as our economy tanks the illegal immigrants see less opportunity to make money here and stay the hell away. But the huge number of illegal immigrants still here is an important issue as they are a drain on our economy and resources and I wish someone was saying anything about it even though I know both candidates pretty much don't want to do anything about it.. As for the debates, they are a huge waste of time. Only the people who just started paying attention 2 weeks ago will get any new information out of them. The VP debate was an even bigger waste of time, since it was basically the two VP candidates yapping on for 90 minutes about their running mates and not presenting the viewing audience with things about themselves. And most importantly, the only reason I am considering right now voting for John McCain is because he picked Palin for VP, but I will tell you right now that he's doing a good job of pissing me off enough as of late that I'll consider taking my vote back to a 3rd party.

The Champs are about to be the Chumps lol. I basically need 5 points from the Saints Defense (Im down 4.5 but there aren't 1/2 point scoring possibilities for Defense) to win and knock off the last undefeated team left. 9:40 edit: the Saints defense isn't doing me any favors.

You dont find it funny that she's using facts obtained from an article in the New York Times (same article I linked to) to attack Obama? 99% of the time its the other way around. Here's the article the New York Times ran Saturday about Ayers and Obama: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/04/us/polit...04ayers.html?hp How Mrs. Palin could have came to the conclusion she did about Ayers and Obama, based on this article, I have no idea. Maybe she clicked the "Related Topics: William Ayers" link on the left side of the page?

Fuck you, Marvin. Fuck you. ACORN threatened banks with the label of "THIS BANK IS RACIST" if they didn't loan money out to minorities which would end up costing the bank customers and in the end money. I think that qualifies as at least somewhat as terrorism..Im not accusing them of going around and killing people or blowing up buildings but there are acts of terrorism that are 100% non violent and their treatment of banks falls under that category. .
