    So, what's your job?

I cook for 40-50 (mostly) old people 3 meals a day, 13 hours a day(4:30 am to 6:00 pm), 3 days a week at a hospital. I really should get a 2nd job with my other 4 days off a week but whatever. If theres one thing I can suggest, its that the Bistro Crocs are the most comfortable shoes in the world for being on your feet 13 hours a day. Well worth the $40.

    Gas Price Check...

I could have paid $3.29 yesterday for gas in Harrington DE. But I bought gas in MD before leaving for DE and paid $3.49 for Midgrade because it was only 4 cents more expensive than Regular, even though there was no logical reason to buy the midgrade other than it seemed like a deal considering everywhere else midgrade is about $3.70 And Im officially saving money for a Chevy Volt. 40 miles on electric only is almost a weeks worth of driving to and from work for me (14.8 miles x 3 days = 44.6 miles).

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

Im tired of hearing "OH, the government has money for a bailout but not for healthcare". Any program the government runs could be run 1000000000x better by someone else. We dont need government run healthcare to make the system that much worse than it already is.

McCains proposed tax on Employee's health insurance is one of the biggest issues I have with him considering he nor even Obama has mentioned it much. His plan with $2,500 and $5,000 in tax credits towards health insurance for people who buy it privately as well as a tax increase on health insurance benefits people get through their employers is trying to make a move away from employer based health insurance. It might very well save most healthy people money through increased competition and the tax credits, but with my health problems, there is no way I could get the same coverage I get now on the open market for even twice as much as Im paying now through my employer ($70 a month deducted pre-tax including vision and prescription plans). Even with the individual $2,500 tax credit Id probably still be paying a little bit more than I am now and Id probably be getting less benefits as well.

The US Economy and Current Financial Crisis

The Government wants to buy back all the bad mortgages from the banks. The majority of the "bad" mortgages however won't go into foreclosure and when the Economy turned around, they could resell the majority of the Mortgages that they bought for 700 billion for upwards of close to 2 Trillion dollars in a few years. Of course, the Government would have no intention of taking that money and using it to reduce debt, put a dent in the Medicare/Social Security black hole or any other reasonable use of the money because any money that they would make (the 2 Trillion) would already be spent on more government programs and crap (HEALTHCARE! YAY!) before they ever even see the profits on the deal, which is a huge risk because if the Economy doesn't improve, then all that this would end up accomplishing would be increasing the debt of the nation even further. The Republican insurance program that they've come up with is pretty much a joke because theres no way they can raise enough funds to cover a majority of the mortgages in case of them going bad by at a low enough price that would attract people to buy in the insurance. The government would almost have to require the insurance and set the price high which would cause all sorts of problems.

The only two things I learned from last night were that Obama agrees with John McCain a lot and McCain hardly ever actually looked at Obama. I dont see where last nights debate was so SUPER IMPORTANT that McCain HAD to be there or else. It was boring and didnt uncover anything that people didnt already know. As far as Im concerned, neither of them won it, they didn't tie..they both LOST. At least I can have high hopes for the VP debate being worth watching.

Because, if you get more money then..someone else is losing money to taxes and in the end, costs of goods and services goes up more than the increase in your paycheck. See: Wage, Minimum and by God, today I listened to Rush Limbaugh (not his biggest fan..really), but he made the point today that if the Banks dont get the money they need, then they might have to start going after people with maxed out credit cards wanting payment in full on the debts owed on them. They will have to take drastic measures in order to be able to continue to lend money. If banks can't lend money, the economy pretty much shuts down. End of story.

Banks > Foreclosed "homeowners" First of all, until the entire mortgage is paid off, the bank that issued the mortgage is the "homeowner". The "homeowner" in your case is merely the "resident". The economic impact of a few people getting their homes foreclosed is trumped by a couple of major banks going bankrupt. We're talking about a complete shutdown of the economy if the a couple of the key important banks fail. Everyone always mentions that the FDIC insures everyones money (up to a certain point) but the cold hard truth is the FDIC doesn't have enough money to cover the collapse of more than a handful of large banks at once. Past that point, all hell will break loose. No one wants that to happen, which is why the banks have to be helped out. I dont like it anymore than the next person, but at least Im informed enough to know that we can't just say no to a bailout/rescue effort of the banks unless we want a complete crash of the US economy within the next couple of weeks. You can blame anyone and everyone for the events that led up to today, but you have got to help out the banks somehow.

I've seen some extremely smart people get burned by bad mortgages they got during the recent housing boom. It's not as cut and dry as the media is making it out to be. The assertion that people were buying more than they could afford is technically true, but it wasn't exactly presented that way. Blame should fall at the hands of the mortgage brokers first, nut the buyers. I don't quite get the analogy to gambling. A lot of the smart people got burned because they thought the housing market would keep booming and they could keep flipping houses every couple years and make money selling and borrowing against the value of the house. Now their stuck in a house upside down (worth less than they owe) that they can't sell either. The people that got stuck with ARMs probably would otherwise never have been able to get a house in the first place, so I cant blame them for going after the American dream of owning a house if they were given the oppertunity to. Worse than ARMs are the interest only mortgages for the first 5 years (only paying on the interest, not principle) and people taking 30+ year long mortgage terms.

Its not like the election is next tuesday and theres no time to reschedule the debate. They could reschedule if they wanted to. And yes, the economy is more important than an hour for a debate that will likely not answer any questions about either candidate that the people who are still undecided could have.

It won't be much of a debate if McCain doesn't show up. I look forward to the Barack Obama Media Love In Hour. McCain comes off looking much better if hes in DC doing his job as a Senator while Obama is sitting in Mississippi talking about himself instead of doing his job as a Senator as well.
