I'm certain he said in a press conferance that he was going to win 7 golds. After that i think the media just ran with it, so more recently he has been coming out saying he would be happy to win just 1. The Australian media in particular made a big deal out of it, because they wanted a repeat of the Sydney Olympics where Gary Hall said they were going "to smash them...like guitars", and then we beat them and played air guitar in front of them. I guess it's the whole underdog thing.

I'd love to know if there was any conversation here. Maybe something like this: Dames - 'Hello Vince' Vince - 'That's Mr McMahon' D - 'Sorry, Mr McMahon. I was hoping i could speak to about possible employment with your company. I'm a talented writer, am rather knowledgable about wrestling, and even own my own websit called TSM. What do you think?' V - 'Look kid, you seem nice, but let me break it down for you. A) You own an internet site. I hate the internet. All the little bastards who go on the internet are just jealous of me and my company, and cant see we are great and that nothing is wrong with the product. Furthermore, they are also jealous of the fact i'm a genetic jackhammer, while the most action they get is popping their 101 zits. B) Your a talented writer, i dont hire talented writers. C) You are knowledgable about wrestling. I only hire people who know nothing about wrestling, and keep my staff restricted to 'yes men' who kiss my ass every chance they get. I dont like people to have the ability to think, because they might come up with ideas that overshadow my own. D) You are shorter than me. With the exception of Tazz, i dont hire people shorter than me. Even the behind the scenes staff must be big to satisfy my big-fetish. Just look at my daughter - i didnt think she was looking big so i laid her down and personally put silicone implants into her chest. I can do this because i am Vince McMahon. Now run along. D - 'Okay, thanks for your time'

The mens 200m freestyle was a bit of a dud. It was hyped to the max here in Oz, and had an all star field, but in the end only 2 guys ever looked like winning it - Van Den Hoogenband & Thorpe. Anyway, nice work Thorpey - and keep beating Michael 'i'm gonna win 7 gold medals' Phelps! And we beat the Russians in womens b'ball. Thank god, now we shouldn't have to face the US womens team until the gold medal game.

I would have thought it was ass-raping myself.

Why does the signing of someone no one gives a shit about qualify as news? This is stupid.

I like the show, but there's too many cheap finishes. They had 3 big matches - Luger/Yoko, Michaels/Perfect, Hart/Lawler and all of them ended in a DQ/Count-out. The Hart/Lawler one was done in a decent fashion, with Bret just snapping and not releasing the sharpshooter, but the others were a letdown. And why did Luger (and the rest of the faces) get so excited after his match? Surely he knew he couldn't win the title by count-out, and yet he partied like it was 1999.

I hate to bring it up, but i would say Owen Hart's speech after his Rumble 94 heel turn would fit into this category. -

Best Austin/Rock WrestleMania Match
Australian Pride replied to ChrisMWaters's topic in General Wrestling
I went for WM17, if only for the atmosphere. Austin was so over he couldn't get heel heat even after siding with Vince. Incredible. -

Undertaker turning heel and forcing JR to join the 'kiss my ass' club. JR's acting was soooooo bad in this segment that it ended up being hysterical when he got his head rammed into Vince's ass. -
They need to stop wasting time on things nobody cares about (Diva Search). When it's obvious who the winner is going to be, and people dont care then why let it continue to chew up TV time, especially when that time could be used to put on some wrestling matches. Anything to do with pregnancy should be given the flick. There has never been a good pregnancy angle, and there never will be. If you build a monster heel, keep him that way. Dont let him be punked out by someone who isnt even a trained wrestler (coughShaneMcMahoncough). He is eventually going to have to lose to someone, but they should always be a trained wrestler of main event calibre. Dont have pointless T&A matches. The only time a womens match of this type has even been remotely significant was at Invasion in 2001, and that's because they were keeping score on who was winning each match. Dont overuse gimmick matches. Hell in a Cell should be kept for extreme cases only. I can understand HBK/HHH having their blow-off in the HIAC, but Nash/HHH was ridiculous. Let the gimmick matches mean something, so that when they do happen people are interested enough to buy the PPV on that match alone. Storyline continuity. Use Kane for an example here on how insignificant WWE regards continuity.

Is that serious??? I though Billy only knew how to punch and hit a fame-asser.

For mine: 1. Rock/Shamrock/Mankind (Breakdown 1998). First ever triple-threat cage match. Crowd was into this in a big way, and it really set up Rock as a headliner. The actual match was great as well. 2. Benoit/Michaels/HHH (WM20). Just a fantastic match, with a memorable finish. 3. Rock/HHH/Lesnar (Australian Global Warning Tour 2002) - this one i have listed because i was there live for it, it was a high class match and it capped off a great card of action.

I went with the neither option, because i never have trimmed/shaved, but that may change around October when i get married. I'm thinking my fiance may want me to do it in return for her going Brazilian before our honeymoon. Decisions, decisions.

I dont get why any athlete's, be they wrestlers or footballers, need to dress up. They're athlete's, not accounants. A wrestler is most visible when he is in the ring, and most of them wear tights. Unless they all start wrestling in gear like IRS did in the early/mid-nineties then i see it as pointless to make them dress up outside the ring. I'm with Holly on his whinge, but i still dont like the guy.

They're big, they're strong, and most of them couldn't wrestle their way out of a wet paper bag. The Bossman could go, and had a decent run, but other than that the talent is pretty scarce. In the end I went for Hercules, and only because i thought it was great when him and the Ultimate Warrior broke the chain in a tug of war. The joys of being a young, impressionable mark.

1. Jericho/Benoit vs. HHH/Austin - May 01 RAW (17-2) 29. Team USA vs Hart Foundation - Canadian Stampede (16-3) 19. Hart Foundation vs Brain Busters - SummerSlam 89 (13-6) 2. Edge/Rey vs Benoit/ Angle- No Mercy (13-6)

Did Tito Santana ever wrestle as a heel? And, similarly, did Tully Blanchard ever do anything as a face? Was there a reason the Davey Boy Smith/Berzerker match was left off WM8, or did they just run out of time.

If you actually like the Big Show then it's not, i think it was just the way you phrased it made it sound like you were just stirring shit. Only you know either way. I wasnt around here when Brock and Randy were starting out, but they were both shit at the beginning of their respective careers. Any comments made about that would have been valid. If they've improved their games since then it's not really his (or anyone's) fault, is it? It's more a credit to them that they managed to stop (most ) people hating them.

Anglesault criticizes the SD spoilers every week, it's just a part of life. And normally his opinion is spot on, it's just that some people don't get what he looks for in a wrestling angle/match. Personally, i like his take on things, and it's certainly a lot better than some of the other threads which have basically become about either 'Benoit is the greatest' or 'Benoit is being held down'. (the latter still comes up despite the fact he made HHH tap out TWICE in the same match). As an example - someone made a thread about Eddie Guerrero winning the WWF/E grand slam and that then became another excuse to *yawn* list every title Benoit has won. Those people need to be banned more than AS. As for MrZ, i have only ever noticed one weird comment by him in the WWE folder, which was then mentioned in a thread dedicated to it by TheJewof2001. I see no reason why he should be suspended for having a differing opinion, unless valid proof is given to show he does it specifically to be a wise-ass and stir shit.

If Randy wins at Slam, I dont see him holding the title all the way to WM. I think they will do something similar to the Rock/Austin fued prior to WM15, where Rock traded the belt a few times with Mankind while Austin was trying to get himself a title shot. If he's staying as a heel, i say have hime trade the belt a few times with Jericho and then after Royal Rumble (which HHH will likely win) set them on the WM21 collision course. If he's a face, then heel Edge would be a good prospect for some decent matches and maybe a short run with the title.

I went for 1997. HHH/Foley in the cage was great, Bulldog/Shamrock was decent with a cool psycho finish, Austin/Owen was a great match prior to the Tombstone and Bret/Taker was very well done. Hell, even the LOD/Godwinns match was good.
