OaO Monday Night Raw Thread - 08/13/07

I doubt Helms would be in any position to do a singing/dancing routine even if they wanted to do a 3 Count bit.

Favorite Crowd Reactions to Face/Heel Turns?

The Chyna fake turn at WM15 got a great reaction. Crowd went nuts when she turned babyface on Kane and helped HHH. Then later in the show both her and H went back to the darkside.

    WWF Tag Title question

How about Rikishi? Won them as Headshrinker Fatu, then later as Rikishi.

    WWF Tag Title question

Does it count that Edge and Christians wore the Conquistador gear and won them?

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

I know what you mean mate. There have been several deaths where I have thought along a similar line. It's hard to wonder why a guy like Hulk Hogan is still around, despite all the shit he's pulled during his career, and the good guys like Benoit or Eddie get taken. As you said with Masters, I don't want Hogan to die, but I struggle sometimes to see the fairness in it all.

Chris Benoit Dead - Toxicology results released

Truly awful news. While obviously saddened by the deaths of Chris and Nancy, I feel so bad that a young child has lost his chance to live a menaingful life. RIP to all three.

Mr. Kennedy Severely Injures His Triceps

I could see MVP getting involved in any prospective Henry/Batista feud as an associate of Henry (obviously...). Assuming the program is going for a few months, it gives MVP a bit of a solid step-up to the next tier by opposing Batista, and gives Henry a guy whose charismatic and can talk to cover that weakness in his game. MVP ain't main event calibre yet, but he's getting there and this could push him along. If he has the US belt after JD all the better. Then when Rey comes back, since he's Batista's buddy, they can go with an MVP/Rey US Title feud around SummerSlam, and get a few Rey/Batista vs Henry/MVP tag matches out of it.

    5 Greatest Intercontinental Champions

This looks like a decent place to make my return to TSM after a several year hiatus. 1. Curt Hennig. Man I loved Curt, he was pretty much the first heel I had ever gotten behind, and a lot of it had to do with his stellar work as IC champ. 2. Bret Hart. Bret still rates as my favourite wrestler, his runs with the IC belt were great and established him as a solo wrestler. 3. Tito Santana. Everything you want in a mid-card champ. Was popular with the fans and put on some fantastic matches. 4. Randy Savage. Intense and talented, Macho came onto the scene with a bang and then followed it with a superb IC run. 5. Honky Tonk Man. Yep, HTM. You can't argue with success, and despite his failings Honky was extremely successful.

If you could only watch one wrestler

Easy question - for mine it would be Bret Hart. He could wrestle anyone and have a passable match, and when he wrestled the greats (like Austin or Hennig) the matches were classics.

    Cena or JBL?

From a money perspective I'll say Cena. He needs the title on him for whenever his movie is released, and to see if he is an actual draw in his own right. From an entertainment perspective It'd be JBL, no doubts.

    Moments you never saw coming

Another one I never picked was DDP being revealed as Sara's stalker in 2001. I don't know whether it was reported on the net prior, but I never had much access to the net back then so it shocked the hell out of me.

    Moments you never saw coming

Stephanie's heel turn at Armageddon 99. When that cute little smirk broke out on her face I was stunned. Trips turning on X-Pac at WM15, after re-uniting with Chyna earlier on the show. Owen Hart attacking HBK at the DX PPV in 1997. Mick Foleys first HIAC bump against the Undertaker.

Worst ring attire of all time?

Spike Dudley when he was dressing in the same style tights that Big Show wears. Can't find a pic of it, but it made him look extremely pathetic, and in more ways than one.

What happened in the WWF the day you were born?

WWWF @ Long Island, NY - Nassau Coliseum - May 23, 1977 WWWF World Champion Superstar Billy Graham defeated Billy White Wolf I don't know much about Billy White Wolf, but that doesn't look too thrilling. And the undercard was so good it doesn't even rate a mention! My b'day will (more importantly) be forever linked to death of Owen Hart in 1999, which devestated me when I read about the next day.

    Austin/Michaels in 1997

Does anyone knwo what was going to happen between these two in 1997? They were tag champs, but wrestled at King of the Ring in a no-contest. Soon after that, Bret Hart gave HBK a backstage bashing, so HBK took off for a few months. So where was the Michaels/Austin thing leading? I assume they originally had HBK in mind to be in Team USA at Canadian Stampede, which would of had him on the same side as Austin, but surely they had some sort of match planned between the two to blow off the tension. Anyone know?

Worst match of the year 2004....

I'll jump on the Richards/Tomko bandwagon as the worst this year. However, since that was unadvertised I've gotta say the biggest disappointment for me as Taker/Kane at WM20, which I thought absolutely sucked. And the ending was horrible, especially when you remember back to WM14 and the 3 tombstones it took to put Kane down. And I'm with RRR on the match of the year, Eddie/Lesnar all the way.

    RAW does 3.9

Is there a ratings breakdown over the 2 hours? Seeing as they made it clear at the start of the show that there would be no title resolution until next week, I think it is a good sign if the rating held up for the whole show after Vince made that announcement. I would expect the same sort of rating (if not higher) next week as well.

    Favourite 'Mark Out' moments

For my top one, I remember going nuts when Chris Jericho interrupted the Steve Austin promo on the Raw after Judgement Day 2001, and set up the tag title match later in the show. Then I marked out all over again when Jericho/Benoit won. That certainly was a great night to be a Y2J fan. Other than that: HBK getting the 3 count at SummerSlam 2002 Austin's appearance at Backlash 2000. It was inevitable that he was coming out, and he may have been looking chunky, but I loved it anyway. Kurt Angle kicking out of stunner after stunner at SummerSlam 2001.

    WWE to sue TNA

I wouldn't be surprised if the whole thing ended up being a work, organised by Vince and the Jarretts to generate interest in both their products. Stranger things have happened, and both companies need all the interest they can get right now.
